be prepared for some speeches by ministars next few days on why we should continue to work long hours continuously until extended retirement age, and why retirement age must be brought even further, why we are different, why we cannot afford to be like them......................................

Yes they will say we are paid more than them so we should think more about the citizen welfare

I think you mean trying hard to work hard, when they are actually sitting at home, shaking leg and collecting millions every year from our pockets.

there are others coming to 90 and still working hard. So dont whine about it.

The pay check however is large too.....

Not too surprise the French makes such move. They are usually quite different. Countries such as the U.K, on the other hand are working longer hours (high street stores used to close at around 6-6:30pm, except Thursday. But now I see some stores open from 8am-10pm.) & gov proposing higher retirement age.

But I don't see it happening here, if even if our gov goes crazy and implement this. Most ppl will complaint they will have no work-life balance... cos no where to eat out, shopping, movie, etc after work. Even some of our kids are sleeping 'late'....where sleeping at 9pm is considered 'early'. My kids usually sleeps at 7:30pm & ppl say they are crazy. :)

As HOD, l also encourage my colleagues not to work after office hours.

Supercharged

SG can't afford all these la. France and many other countries don't have to work v hard. The economy can be auto pilot. Trade will still go on.

But in SG, we got nothing.

Anyway France economy is so auto pilot that their President is more bz chasing skirts than doing real work. Lol

We do not need to enforce actual end work hours, but restricting max hours will be nice.

After certain amount of hours, you will be losing efficiency exponentially anyway, so why not go home, watch your favorite drama on your sofa, correct someone in the internet, play with your dog, talk to your kids (if you have kids) etc, then be back fresh for work the next day.

Key thing is to make the hours count! I have worked in the past to over 10pm, sometimes, overnight, even without lunch break, & I do not feel more efficient then then when I knock off at 4-6 pm these days.

Exactly! It's not how many hours you work, it's what you do within that working hours.

Exactly working less hour doesnt mean less effective.

In fact one has the need of a balance work and family

We have something better. COE. [sunny]

Fully synthetic. Able to withstand operating even under the most demanding operating conditions w/o degrading.

Meet & exceed all GDP, Swiss Standard of living, gini co-efficient, purchasing power.

Though we dont have mineral sources, we innovate. In todays market, our COE is no longer just fully synthetic but double esther, nano tech too!!! [grin]
