Nav14 6th Gear February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 If you meant test driving the test drive car months before, I don't remember the drone and vibration. That's why during delivery I asked my SE if this was normal. He said it could be that the engine was too new. Well, the vibration never went away. I'm starting to think I got a lemon gearbox like the other gentleman. I wish if another new X-Trail owner can help sit in my car to verify if this is normal before I report it up again. Btw, speaking of delivery, mine was done tucked right at the back of the washing shed at the Bt Timah service centre. There were topless foreign cleaners lying around next to where my car was. Totally unglam. Nav14, I'm still wondering why you asked if I "really own a x-trail". I hope you were not being sarcastic. Btw, are you a sales executive at Tan Chong? Not sure if you were referring to me, but I remember aside from the further back setting, the other locking position is around 10-12 cm to the front. Any further there won't be any more leg room for the second row. When you bring in your car to TC workshop and the service adviser maintains that the vibration is normal then ask him to arrange a test drive of the new xtrail availablle for test drive at the showroom. If the new x-trail has no similar vibration then the service adviser will have no defence but to get the vibration rectified. I did this before with my Teana for another fault. ↡ Advertisement
Nextreal 1st Gear February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 I suggestion is for you to get a test drive of the xtrail at at least 2 locations (LK/Ubi/BktTimah). That way you can feel for yourself the relative norm. If you have that as a challenge point to TC, they will have to think doubly hard how to push away the blame. Ok. Thanks for your suggestion. BenTong Turbocharged February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 My experience not with the XT but with the QQ. 1 yo QQ.. Squeeking sound when going over humps. Send in to TC @ BT.. Had a tester to drive the car. First thing he said its normal even before driving the car. I was pissed. And said in no uncertain terms a calm assertive polite "bulls**t!". He test drove then admitted the sound seems loud. Got it bushing greased.. Sound gone. Asked to monitor. So if you guys sense anything wrong.. Just send in. Nissan is having a bumper year and QC is not that thorough. Don't accept its "normal.". It's is not!

EricChan 5th Gear February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 Ok. Thanks for your suggestion. Good advice. Thanks. And mostly likely just the engine mounts which are a wear and tear, relatively easy fix. No worries that it is something else.
BenTong Turbocharged February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 And please get the factory fitted leather option even though you or your Wife wants a nicer Color. The local leather upholstery contractor they have not up to standard. Wavy leather on the buttocks after a while.
Nextreal 1st Gear February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 The first locking position is at around 10cm fwd. But that doesn't render the second row unusable. In all reviews, it's all well documented that the last row is more of an emergency seating for kids or smaller people than a permanent one like the xc90 etc. But when that need arises, the first row can also move forward a little to make room for everyone. If 7 seats are a must, then maybe a mpv is a more logical choice at this price point. It's a 130k purchase. I guess doing some homework is necessary before one commits to it. Nope, the first locking position is still ok. I was saying beyond that (if there's any), the seats will be quite unusable. But you're right. I didn't do my homework well. Committed to the purchase after just 1 test drive. Must be something in the coffee they served me. If I could hold on my purchase for a few months, the Odyssey seem like a much better fit for me. But it was like $40k more expensive at that time. Well, since I already bought the X-Trail, might as well make the best use for it. At least people are complementing the red paint. Need your opinion on this. If the vibrations only happen when the car is stationary but in gear, do you think there's more potential for a gear issue than an engine mount problem? If the vibrations only happen when the car is stationary but in gear, do you think there's more potential for a gear issue than an engine mount problem?Yours squares with an experience on my previous Honda and that was : engine on but in parked or neutral there was no vibration. However when in gear but stationary , vibration occurred . Prognosis was engine mount - leaking damping oil out of the rubberized engine mount ( even though it was relatively new about a year and a half - I think I had driven hard over a bump and that was the cause . Over exertion on the rubberized mount causing a slight tear and its oil seepage). Gear very unlikely an issue because you will otherwise get these constant humming sounds from the harmonics generated when driving. Michaeleu 1st Gear February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 hi Michael as mine will be locally fabricated, I intend to have mine through the 'third braking' light opening. Also have asked the workshop to weld two nuts into the frame on the right side for securing purposes (originally no nuts for securing). thanks for the info Chow20160218_103343.jpg20160222_183449.jpg20160222_183513_001.jpg Bought mine ysterday. gorilla_chow 2nd Gear February 28, 2016 Share February 28, 2016 Bought mine ysterday. hi Michael That's nice. I have also fixed up my locally fabricated hitch receiver over the weekend and had also load up two bikes and went for a test drive, the feel is good. will load up 4 bikes next week once my boys' semester exams is over. So you installed the cuff lock on your own? have you tried it out? I have also got myself tube top for my wife hybrid bike. so do you intend to get any hitch cover? Happy cycling. May consider this over roof rack style bike carriage.

May consider this over roof rack style bike carriage. hi not that I am aware of (so long the hitch does not protrude out from any part of the car). but do take note that if on the road, (with the bike loaded up) do hang an additional car number plate (as the original one will be blocked by the bike). Yes, with the hitch rack, it is so much convenient compare to roof rack especially with 4 bikes loaded up (and slightly cheaper).
