Scary sia!!! Think if they don't contain & control it properly, it'll be a matter of time before it reach S'pore like Sars. Singapore is a crossroad with so many incoming flights from all over the world. Especially recently when you notice more African around...

Did they do any tests or only based on her detailed history which was communicated verbally and with reference to known patients in Nigeria?

Article seems to indicate only based on what she says and not the results of tests done....

this would be very dangerous especially with a 21 day incubation period...

This issue is of paramount interest because TTSH CEO himself is the spokesperson for this case.

Nigerian woman sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital does not have Ebola, says hospital

SINGAPORE - The Nigerian woman who was sent from Gleneagles Hospital to the Communicable Diseases Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) on Thursday morning does not have Ebola as first feared.

Professor Philip Choo, TTSH's chief executive officer, told The Straits Times that it was a false alarm and that she has since been discharged.

"We saw a patient with a history from Nigeria," he said, but her detailed history revealed "no contact with any suspect or confirmed patients."

Ebola is a highly-fatal viral disease that is spreading in West Africa, raising fears that it might spill over to the rest of the world.

The woman in her 50s was identified as a possible Ebola case by doctors in Gleneagles Hospital on Thursday morning.

She is believed to have flown into Singapore recently and arrived at the hospital's emergency department with a fever. She was immediately isolated and transferred by ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Have to wonder what is ICA/MOH/Airport policy regarding visitors from Africa

a. There should be no general ban on international travel or trade; restrictions outlined in these recommendations regarding the travel of EVD cases and contacts should be implemented.
