not only that, a SUV of that size only has 2WD, need to special indent 4WD [shakehead]

lastly, C&C trade in + package cmi. need take loan else got penalty <_<

seriously, in comparison, santa fe much better.

Lol.

Still got some months to go before I book. Maybe I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

didn't try the santa Fe. wife didn't particularly like it. and price wise not very attractive.

tried the Nissan X trail. hyundai Tucson and Subaru outback and Sorento.

from a value preposition wise of the 3, we're kinda leaning towards the X-trail.

Sorento is nice. but price isn't very competitive in my opinion.

the sorento's price is competitive. but is it affordable? it depends on your budget.

it is very cheap compared to Q7, X5 and XC90.

it is cheap compared to elgrand, alphard and vellfire.

The sorento is expensive compared to x-trail, outlander, orlando and mobilio.

since you said the santa fe pricing isn't attractive, I can only assume you meant affordability rather than "competitive" or value for money.

that said, if you don't need the extra two seats all the time, and have been driving a sedan all this while, the x-trail is indeed a very attractive option.

Lol. Comparing the sorento to the X5 and Q7 is a stretch.

I would think that it's more in the league of outlander and x trail rather than a conti wannabe

Then again for that price range most would rather go for bmw 2GT. Which we actually was pretty impressive. Comes with quite a number of Bells and whistle.

u beoing the same rides as me ah?? :D

to me currently based on what i have tried, top 3 is

1) LR discovery

2) 2GT

3) Santa Fe

dont bother with x-trail and outlander, the power is lacking and the extra seats too pathetically small to be used.

Lol. Similar I Guess.

Still shortlisting final candidates. Final decision still up to my boss.

Just nice was at the Bmw showroom so took a look.

Wifey was surprised that the 2GT was so cheap. And the FC was also v impressive.

Seemed like a value preposition lol

LR discovery has a nice ride, look and size...

But I find the interior abit lacking and fit and finish I dare say even worse than the koreans. Too much hard plastics inside. The SE was honest enough to tell me that discovery is their "entry" segment, so cannot expect too much in terms of the premium feel.

For feature to feature matching, you need to go up to HSE that is easily another 20k.

Anyway, LR discovery and SF also in my shopping list. Still have time.

From what I observe, the hse n se version not much difference except the panoramic roof, memory seat etc. Engine n drive definitely better than Korean, furthermore with paddle shift. I dun find the interior lacking. In comparison, the SE from wearnes much more professional than komoco or c&c when sharing info of the car.

SF has the panaromic sun/moon roof and the memory seats. That's why I say specs for specs, the HSE is the only version comparable.

The hard plastics texture and feel on the dash and the door panels are very reminiscence of my CO's 2009 saab 9-3 (which is already not the epitome of interior fit and finish in it's time).

The metallic decor panels fitting is quite telling when you find uneven jointlines and places you can actually press to close the gap.

Discovery is the entry model for LR, just go to the showroom Evoque displayed next to the Discovery and you can feel the difference in terms of choice of panels/fit and finish. Don't even need to go up any higher in the model range.

I am not dissing LR Discovery. Just highlighting some of the personal quibble I have especially considering the asking price for the HSE model.

I think trade in and insurance part maybe can nego. However loan is additional income to them hence no nego. What package cmi?

2WD or 4 WD pretty subjective. Local road dont really need it but fun to have. Some will instead complain of high FC. End of the day C&C can bring in the top specs but need to sell at 190K, then again consumers will complain and shunt away.

Just test drove the diesel 2.2 just now, honestly, am impressed.

Saw the new Sportage 2016 as well.

The pick-up is crazy!

I've always been a mild driver who don't accelerate much to pick-up since they could never pick-up that well.

But ever since I've gotten my Sorento, I will accelerate more to get to the lane I want.

Don't think it's such a good thing after all. Some day if I'm not careful in looking at my blindspot, I'll be contributing to the insurance premiums again.

Better pick-up contributes to safer driving... you can get out of sticky situations better. Not asking you to speed but when you have better pick-up, changing lanes, merging, traffic junctions are safer for you and those around.

I know x-trail rear seats are an afterthought...are 2GT extra seats more spacious than Outlander's?

Yes definitely. Xtrail n outlander 3rd confirm cannot sit adults, basically not leg space at all.

That means the seat bottoms are mounted on the floor with no cavity in the floor pan to put your feet into. LOUSY.
