Its better to missed an exit than to cause an accident, really don't know which is more important to the person who change lane at the last moment. Don't do something foolish and your love one pay the price.

Its a silver Honda Stream... and I don't think you'll get much mileage with the vids.. Yes, he wasn't driving properly and was cutting lanes , but I think there are even more reckless drivers around. But thanks anyway for submitting to TP, maybe he get a 'wake up' letter...

I don't really agree with you.

I put forth a scenario to you:

You are in middle lane, car in right lane creeping in, there is a heavy vehicle right behind you.

Driving defensively lets you spot the car in right lane slowly creeping in.

If you brake to stay behind the car in right lane, there is a chance that the heavy vehicle might hit you.

If you have loud horns, you can still use it to warn the car on the right lane that you are right beside it so it doesn't cut into your lane, force you to brake hard and risk the heavy vehicle behind from colliding into you.

Horns are used to prevent collisions from happening.

I have used my horns on so many occasions to prevent cock drivers from cutting into my lane when I am too close to them for my own comfort. As soon as I see their tyres turn even a bit, it's hand to horn to give them warning. And brake on standby in case they are really cocks.

So you may think horns are useless, but I think otherwise.

My idea of driving etiquette is to never let other cars brake hard for me to change lane.

IMO most Singaporeans don't need louder horns. They just need to drive more defensively. In any situation where you have time to horn means you have even more time to just avoid any incident.

Look around on youtube for videos and you'll notice those really close collisions, the drivers never honk. Those situations where there is honking heard is usually those where there is more than enough time to just give way to the other driver or slow down.

I encounter that scenario everyday. Do you mean the car slowly creeping into your lane? Then just gradually slow down since he is slowly creeping in. No need the jam brake. Sure have chance of the vehicle behind hitting you. Anytime you slow down, there is that risk. Do you stop at red lights?

Btw I do use my horn too. When I am in a rush or just don't feel like letting the guy cut queue. If I am not in a hurry, these kind of situations I don't use horn or ebrake.

When I use the horn, its because I want to and not because I need to.

Hope you don't mind this comment from a neutral view:

From the video, you seemed to filter from lane 4, then to lane 3 and lane 2. If the stream were in lane 2 while you cut him abruptly, s/he may have moved over to lane 1 and subsequently into lane 2 in front of you for whatsoever reason or excuse s/he had in her/his mind.

As you moved towards lane 1, the stream moved in too, either coincidentally or deliberately ahead of you to join the vehicles in lane 1 but did not braked as some other nasty and aggressive driver may do if they had the intention to drive recklessly.

Therefore, based on your video, such incident is too trivial to be picked up for TP's attention otherwise there will be endless videos for TP to watch especially when most of the time, it shows nothing but you and some vehicles ahead who road hog lane 1 although lane 2 was clear for a good distance. It would have been good if you had a rear video camera showing the simultaneous traffic condition in the rear as your filter from lane 4 towards lane 1.

Therefore, let's live and let live unless there is a clear aggression and recklessness which is unbecoming of a responsible driver.

Hope there can be better videos from you which deserved TP's attention and punitive action.
