2015 Mazda CX3

Hi Roh,

 

From eurokar? Cx3 is still available last week but looks like going the route of now defunct mazda2 locally.

 

Unlike mazda3, mazda6 or cx5, this is another consideration against cx3 since I wun feel good owning defunct car even if only namesake with many platform changes few years down the road.

It is a pity that the interior size of CX3 is too small for most potential buyers. I can accept the dashboard and design. Given that the car is 30k cheaper than the bigger sibling CX5, i cannot expect CX5 quality and design on CX3.

For a 2nd car in the family where most of the time is only driver alone, i feel cx3 is a good choice. Infact, i find it very suitable for female drivers, a lifestyle car.

the car gear shift is jerky.. engine is noisy ..

Tot it was actually quiet and very compliant ride ... among all the test drive. Did not drive hard and notice the jerky gear change.

 

Tested both 1.0l and 1.4l Q2 last nite at 129k and 134k respectively with CO, pick up from 1.0l is ok and 1.4l mightly fine but damn busy jittery and bumpy ride albiet the conti type but simply too much.

 

Will test drive the cx5 this evening and made the decision .. probably between it and $ saving but not preferred sedan of mazda6.

Mazda CX-3 2019 version.

 

Feel free to ask specific questions. Including the brands i listed below as i have done research on them EXCEPT for driving.

1) This is a Subcompact SUV category. It is very confusing but SUV has 3.
Subcompact (CX-3, Vezel, Qashqai, Subaru XV), Compact (CX-5, CRV, Subaru Forester) and SUV (CX-9, unsure what other brands is here but basically all the huge SUVs. Didn't research much here.)

2) Do not. Do NOT buy in this category if you are a full family.
If you wish to load your car.
If you plan to often drive with max number of pax.
The only exception is Vezel / HRV although it's still not recommended.
This is a Subcompact. Drivers will fill great as it is built on Car platform instead of Trucks.
So this catgeory is a good drive but not a great truck, unable to carry or pull as much.

3) Price wise, based on Listed, it compares with the following.
HRV (From AD, refresh coming), Citron C4 Cactus (Refresh coming), Seat Arona.
But Mazda AD seems to have more discount.
In my opinion, CX-3 Deluxe is on par with HRV lower spec.
Honda AD did not offer any discounts from listed price.

4) 2019 version is refreshed and has a few great points to consider.
G Vectoring Control.
Arm Rest.
Electronic Parking Brake. This in turn freed up space to redesign the console area.
Updated Heads Up Display with color. For tall people, there may be issues with adjustments.
Powered Driver seat. This is useful if drivers change. There's also Lumbar support which will be great for drives up North.

5) Driving Experience.
It was fantastic.
Sadly I did not try the other brands but was already passing due to price as well as looks.

6) Comments on some other brands.

Seat Arona.
Was not available for viewing even though i specifically called before hand to check.
Maybe they wanted to test water and hope we will be interested in others.
Looked at Seat LBiza or is it iBiza.
Immediate impression is that the interior is old.
The idea of self parking is cool but I didn't try it.
Didn't consider at all as we are not keen to buy a Brand New where the interior immediately feels old.

No Navigation option.
Unsure if Android Auto or Apple Carplay is integrated. Sales person didn't advise when we asked about Navigation. Weird.
Interior looks good. We liked the console area.
Magic Seats. No competition at all from any other brands. But only good for people who will use their car for loading.

Surprisingly, the interior is smaller than expected. We would rather go for Air Cross.
Air Cross visibility is great. Cactus visibility is bad.
Interior looks very interesting because it is so different.
But interior looks like cheap plastic all over.

Subaru XV.
Do you really want to pay for AWD?

Qashqai. Hyundai Kona. C-HR.
Didn't check as the price automatically turn me away.

Mitsubishi.
Didn't have a model in this category.

Yes, i actually secured mine in Mid/July. I believe mine is actually the first batch to be out from factory. But i'm going to be expecting delays if they cant even give me a proper delivery date as of now.

AA/CP is not the standard installed & it’s not even provided as optional for cx3s coming to Sg. Will b sourcing for aftermarket after mine arrives late tis yr.

Yes & I agreed that if android or carplay comes with new veh delivery that will b great. Similarly I dun mind if need to pay abit market rate extras to have the software installed by in-house TEK (warranty guaranteed).

I don't agree that Cx-3 can't pull. it's 2L btw. You comparing with HRV 1.5? HRV even worse if cx-3 can't move. Only thing that sucks is the interior space.

Pull as in towing. Cx-3 does not even have a tow ring.

 

I compared with hrv 1.8 .

 

Yes cx-3 rear seats and boot, if magically improves will really become the best in class.

But as a childfree, couple or single, it's fantastic.
