Nissan Qashqai vs Honda Vezel, which is better?

If want to save the trouble of addtional work or reduced power over time.

Can consider Japan-brand alternatives like Suzuki S-Cross or Vitara, Subaru XV, Subaru Forester 2.0 non-turbo version, Mitsubishi ASX.

All about same price range and size as Vezel and QQ.  (Subaru showroom at Leng Kee share same building as Nissan QQ - so can see and test both at one go).

The Subaru's and Mit are also Japan-made like Vezel.

The Suzuki's are made in Europe (Hungary) like 1.2QQ (England with French engine)

Sorry, forgot to clarify that not saying that the alternatives above are better than Vezel or QQ.

Was more trying to say that Vezel and QQ plus above alternatives above (S-Cross, Vitra, XV, Forester 2.0 non-turbo, ASX) are probably are the full set of options available for those looking for Japanese-brand SUV that is in the cheapest price range.

Hence, for those looking for this type of car, best to research and test-drive all of them, and then decide which one really want to buy.

Singapore car prices so high and car purchase is usually the second biggest purchase we make in our life.

So pays to spend time to make the right decision.

Test drove qq 2.0l and hrv. Eventually bought an asx as i am looking for a 2.0l car due to worries over 20hp reduction as car ages. Ride quality in qq 2.0l was terrible as it was running on 19" wheels. Hrv feels slightly under powered.

turbo charge engine always has the upgrading potential.

vezel really look funny to me, like a bigger body on the jazz chassis. I will go for qq if I have to choose between the 2 cars. at least qq look more presentable with a small turbo engine which allow for future upgrading.

I don't think you realise the jazz 1.5 non-turbo engine is a much more powerful engine than a 1.2 QQ engine even with the turbo. The acceleration of the QQ1.2 is really a joke.

I would not agree with you as I test drove the QQ 1.2 and its pretty decent. The low end torque is actually quite good and higher than the vezel by 20 nm. It actually feels much faster than the Vezel due to the TC.

Jazz is definitely a more "powerful" car considering the weight vs power output ie 1050kg:96KW or 10.9kg/KW.

QQ1.2 has a ratio of 1285kg:85KW or 15.1 kg/KW.

But there are other considerations in the whole equation ie jazz has 2 airbags vs QQ 6 airbags.

Because of the lighter weight, jazz has this typical Jap tin can feeling whereas QQ has a more solid conti feel and will emerge with lesser damage should an unfortunate accident occur. Hence safety rating for QQ is definately better. There are also other technical differences between the 2 cars for buyers to differentiate.

As a matter of generalisation, jazz attracts younger couples without or with small kids, whereas QQ tend to attract tradtional family types. All said, both cars have differing strengths and it is up to buyers to prioritise their preference.

Aside these 2 cars, there are also other good value choices to suit various budgets such as Subaru XV, Honda Vesel/HRV, Renault Kadjar, Suzuki S-cross/Vitara, and the list goes on....

Bottom line is there is no perfect car, and buyers have to decide which car best suit them.

I have been driving the QQ 1.2T since last Saturday and I am very happy with it. I have no problems with the power or acceleration. In fact, it "feels" faster and more powerful than my 9 year old Toyota Harrier 2.4. Does not feel like a 1.2 at all.

You need to test drive it yourself to decide.

As for the interior and features (if that matters to you), QQ wins the Vezel hands down.

p.s. I heard that Uber bought a lot of Vezels.

No offence, but there is no way the Qashqai 1.2 "feels" more powerful nor faster than the Harrier 2.4, both of which I have driven.

The pick up from the Harrier N.A. engine is faster, more confident and reassuring anytime, compared to the Qashqai 's turbocharged 1.2l engine , which hesitates, especially in the initial pick up from rest.

Totally agreed. Qq has this lag.

That is true. See many vezel dropping off customers at my area.

No worries. My comparison is between my brand new Qashqai 1.2T and my 9 year old Harrier 2.4 (not the current model), both of whom I still own and drive on alternate days.

The latter is heavy and sluggish. Maybe because of the age or , maybe just my car. Of course, I assume 2.4 should be more powerful than 1.2, turbo or not. But the Qashqai 1.2T somehow just "feels" faster and more powerful. Maybe I am prejudiced? I am sure a not so old Harrier 2.4 will be much faster and powerful.

Over the past week, all three white Vezels I saw were from Lion City Rental (Uber). Not sure if they bought only white Vezels, but if you are buying Vezel, maybe you want to avoid white?

Even before uber buy mainly white vezel for their fleet, white colour for vezel already a popular colour among car owners. But there was once i ride in one silver vezel uber. Don't know this vezel is privately own or owned by uber? Even for Qashqai, white also the most popular and common colour.

Isn't it a little hard to compare between two cars and another that doesn't exist in any real form yet?

Try comparing next year ..

Or if you can't wait then just narrow it down to cars you can see, touch and drive.

Cheers

Came across a 2015 comparison test from UK's Autoexpress on Vezel vs Qashqai.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/honda/hr-v/92454/honda-hr-v-vs-nissan-qashqai-peugeot-3008

This article concludes that the rankings of the 3 cars are;-

1)  Qashqai

2)  Vezel

3)  Peogeot 3008.

Straight to the point after listing the plus and minus.
