Bro...from my knowledge...

Once ur claim settle and policy due for renewal, you can choose to continue or opt for next coy.

Need help juz PM me.

Thanks.

Dear all,

Would like to seek your advice on renewing my insurance for my vehicle. I was involved in a rear collision along Adam Road on 6 Mar 2015. Black Mitsubishi Lancer rear-ended me at about 80kmh. More details on that accident here:

Front Cam: http://youtu.be/WlwiJBCN4aw

Back Cam: http://youtu.be/I_EmiGzmBAA

Vehicle is under a year old and I am insured under AIG. Have 0% NCD as this is my first vehicle. I decided to claim my own insurance and get Borneo Motors to file the claims for me and speed the procedure up. I am aware of the options of claiming under 3rd Party etc. But I am not interested in Crocodile workshops as I know their practice of inflating claims. More importantly, my vehicle is still under warranty and BM has stopped bringing the vehicle in (don't wish to void my warranty just for some accident).

My insurance is up for renewal in end May, and I'm sure the case will still be pending then. While it's clear the case is 100% in my favour, I believe there will be insurance loading on me, while the case is pending. I accept that as it's the norm.

So, my question. Once the case is settled and ruled 100% in my favour, what can I do to revise the rate of my insurance? Or do I renew my insurance for a shorter duration (is that even possible), accepting that that's the way the companies work? Happy to also hear that I don't have much choice but to pay more for the duration of insurance coverage, until I am cleared of any responsibility. Truth be told, I thought I was lucky to walk away unscathed after looking at the videos.

Any advice appreciated. :)

I also kana rear ended at the traffic light just before CNY. Totally stopped for a few seconds at the junction, then suddenly the black camry decided to kiss my rear. Its not a hard braking stop kind, its just slowly coast to stop at the junction. My car workshops says its 100% clear cut not my fault, but apparently the other party's insurance is denying and fighting the case. Since the accident on 16 Feb till date, no repairs have been carried out as the other party's insurance is not paying up. Any advise on this kind of situation?

Sometimes it's not easy to find another insurance coy to insure your car after you have had an accident, regardless of whether the claim has been settled or not. You LL have to go back to the existing coy, and suffer for 3 years (as far as I know, insurance companies like to ask if you have any claim history for the past 3 years).

While you are within the 3 year probation period, you better behave well on the road to avoid causing an accident. Otherwise your pocket will bleed.

Do you know which company insured the car behind yours? I want to ask them for quotation!

Your insurer lousy is it?

Tell them to refer to BOLA.

IF the other party doesn't have video to prove that you play punk, they must pay up.

Otherwise refer the matter to GIA.

I not really sure about the rules now. But in 09, I was involved in a chain collision.

Premium went up and I contacted my insurer. They advised me to pay for the higher premium

Saying that if you won the case > 80/85%

They will adjust your premium and refund you the difference and NCD

Which they really refunded in full after 2-3 years of pending case

Talk to your insurer ba

Dear Bros,

Thanks for the all the advice. Vehicle has finally been fully repaired as there were parts that needed to be brought in from the UK.

Long story short, AIG provided me a more competitive quote. About 2.2k with excess 600 and NCD 10% included. It's about $500 less than my previous years insurance, and I'm likely to go with them. (Other insurers quoted me much more when I went bargain hunting for some sort of undercutting.) All this, before even claiming from the Third Party, and doing a self-claim first.

I'm told that my front and rear-end camera footage helps. Apparently everytime we do a self-claim or have a claim made against us, insurers can check a database. In my case, AIG and other insurers are able to see my accident report and video footage, and then determine with their underwriters whether I am at or not at fault, even before the case has been settled.

On a final note, I thought I would also encourage all drivers to install front and backend cameras. Get a good one whose footage doesn't fizzle out upon heavy impact. The $500 to $600 spent is a great insurance against repair costs that can be worth a lot more.
