Anyone bought those magnetic sun shade for their Altis?

Is it good?

The range can be from $80 to $150.

I tried the "Quick Connect" with Samsung Galaxy A8, with the Toyota Touch WiFi enabled. was able to see the Toyota Touch connected to my phone. But it seems that's all. Anyone tried Quick Connect on the SS and able to use it for audio streaming iso BT? I was wishing this allows video streaming but seems unlikely. any ideas pls share.

Hi guys I am new to this forum.

Had booked my Altis elegance 2 week ago and was just informed by the SE that I have gotten my  COE on the first bid.

Had arranged with SE to register and collect my vehicle early December as I wanted to fully utilize my previous generation altis fully as I am trading in the vehicle.

Although I have been driving for more than 8 years, this is my first ever new car.

I have some question in regards to collecting the new car and hope the guru here can advise:

• The car comes with Thinkware H50 dash cam, I plan to replace it with the Blackvue 650 2CH cam with either Cellink B3 battery or power magic for parking recording.

Do I need to buy from BM or can I install it outside as it is cheaper. Will this void the electical warranty for the vehicle?

Should I get Cellink or Power magic, from what I know BM only has Cellink and not power magic. And saw some post saying that cellink will damage the car battery. As the car is using the water type battery will my 5 year warranty cover it too?

 

• I also plan to change the light bulb for the cabin and truck to LED, will this have any effect on the warranty?

 

• I saw in the previous post that there is a Bodycare program for all new purchase vehicle, is it still valid and how does it works? The SE did not mention anything about this to me at all.

 

• For the autofold module for side mirror is it worth getting?

 

• Is the Toyota Shield Infinity Membership good to get?

 

• I saw that the FOC solar film given by BM is no good, does anyone know the cost to upgrade to 3M Crystalline? Should I upgrade at BM or change myself outside?

 

Sorry  for the long post as I really need clarification on the above.

Brother, congrats for having your new ride.  surely you'll enjoy it.  I'd mentioned earlier before that you can do anything outside to save some $ but think of the 5 years unlimited warranty as what one of my friends encountered after that I'm scared to do anything outside especially involved with electrical connections, if something happens your warranty will be voided.

 

I repeat some years ago, my friend bought a Honda car and he fixes a fog light from one of a workshop outside and within 2 weeks the car electric circuit shocked and caught fire burned the interior of the whole car.  Very unlucky KM denial his claim and he had to scrape his new car because the costs for repairing was almost half of the new car price.

 

So don’t be sterling wise and pounds foolish in order to have a peace of mind for the rest of the 5 years warranty.

I got the MiraCast to work for me finally, yes RTFM helps.

 

1) enable on HU, WiFi Miracast

2) Go to phone , start Quick Connect

3) Start Miracast App on the HU

4) the HU looks for the phone

5) on phone select the icon on Quick Connect that shows HU name

6) HU displays some messages. Just click Next or Yes.

7) The phone display now on the HU.

 

With car parked, I got YouTube video playing, Google Map working. Speed is quick fast.

From SE if video is from YouTube, HU will detect and stop playing when driving.

 

Next to change central lock config  to lock all doors when shift out of P.

I bought laser shades for side windows.

For the rear pax, it hard to see in. So people can't casually see what u have inside.

 

The front driver piece need getting used to. It reduces your vision even though it's perforated. You have to be very careful when turning left to main road

 

The effect is magnified at night. Thus I was happy I didn't buy the rear windscreen piece

 

Don't think it reduces heat. But reduces glare and improve privacy

Now all doors locked when I shift out of P.

 

With the multi-function display, any one knows how to add information on the last page unde r the first manual item (the one with FC etc.)? It is blank but I cannot find this page under the setup/customization menu.

Hi My5t3ry, i upgraded mine solar film at bm, my ride comes with free basic solar film, if what bro altis2016 is correct, cost over 1k to do outside, it is much cheaper to ask bm to upgrade for you.

Hi My5t3ry, I will try to answer those I know.

1. Battery warranty is 2 yrs and 50% discount on 3rd year.

2. For changing of internal LED, u may need to ask SE. My SE told me that he change his Toyota interior LED too.

3. Auto mirror I did it outside. Sorry cannot remember how much. Love it as it tell me from a distance whether I have locks the car.

4. I heard BM recently remove the free body care program. It allow u free repaint of two panels of the car no including the front and back bumper.

5. Toyota shield is actually up to individual. It only kick in on the 3rd year. SE try to sell me and I say u must give me something to park the money with them. So, they give me free wheel rotation and engine flush.

6. I have nvr used higher grade solar before so I cannot comment. The car if park under hot sun for 6hrs. It is hot but the car air con is quite fast to bring the temp down. I think someone mention about 1000-1500 range.

 

Congrats on yr new ride. I am very happy with my ride. Doing accessories add on bit by bit.

I have checked with  my SE and decided to get my Blackvue 650s 2 CH & cellink battery from BM. Normally they charge $950 with labor but the SE gave me at Slightly below $900.

 

She also offered to allow me to upgrade the solar film to 3M Crystalline with a topup of $250.

 

For the body care she checking for me right now, I will post here once I hear anything.

 

Overall quite happy with her service, she even allow me to push back my collection date to mid Dec so as to enjoy my NCD step up.

 

Really a lot of accessories to get for the new ride, I even ordered full covered leather floor mat from TB, if its good I will share here.

 

Next in the list will be TRD bars to improve safety, any bro can advise on this?

Lastly, can someone that has Thinkware X550-2CH install tell me more about the installation. e.g. is the recorder connected to the car battery or to the cigarette lighter? All wiring hidden properly or visible ? great if you can show a photo. Thanks.

Dear All, after testing various 95 petrol from supplier, here is the update of my experience.

Power:

Caltex 95 most power follow by Shell and Esso.

 

FC:

Surprising not much different. Consistently aro 14.5 - 15km/l based on each petrol top up and not single trip.

 

Feels that Shell give a better balance between power and smoothness for my driving style.

about smoothness of drive... I have the following questions.

 

on (busy) expressway, crusing at 60-70km/hr, often I release the accelerator completely to maintain distance from the car in front of me (but no need to use brakes yet). when I _gently_ tap/depress the accelerator afterwards, the gearbox is engaged (I am speaking like this is manual GB, but I know this is CVT) and almost always generates a shudder.

 

Is this normal for CVT to have this shudder, especially at this travelling speed.

It makes the ride more jerky, even my child noticed it and ask why the new car is shaky.

 

I will pay more attention to lower speed if this shudder is also around.

I understand what u mean about the shudder. I was complaining about it some threads back. Before my 10K service, this shudder is also very evident and intrusive. Some how for my case, it goes away after 2 weeks. 

 

I find Caltex petrol give me the shudder more than Shell & Esso when I switch petrol initially. It tends to get better until it disappear completely.

When I tested the petrol, I always tested it for at least 1months. 

 

I remember very clearly that I dont exprenice this before 10K. It started after I try Caltex. However, I also remember that I was caught in very terrible traffic for the whole week when this start. It lasted for 2 weeks before it disappear.

 

Recently, it came back again  when i switch back to Esso. However, for my case, it is very subtle and my passanger dont feel it at all. It only happen sometimes. Only the driver feel it. I intend to do my 20K servicing @ Leng Kee and ask them about it.

There is this "Deng" sound, like the type you hear on the plane when the light to wear the seatbelt came on. 

 

This keep happening when I went over the MSCP bumps, especially the narrow hard type that jerk the most.
