Drion 2nd Gear August 10, 2016 Share August 10, 2016 the UR bar functions the same as the trd bar. only thing is the design of the bars. trd one sits nicely whereas the UR bar left side protruds out and "sort" off partically block the engine oil cover. the UR bar is a one piece and the trd is is 3 piece, tighten with bolt and nut. unless u lower yr ride with coilover or springs. if not, driving slowly over the humps have not such issues. And I like the trd bar also. :) ↡ Advertisement

Altis2016 1st Gear August 24, 2016 Share August 24, 2016 Today I pumped Caltex 98 - power & FC seemingly better. For me, I switch from Esso 95 to Caltex95 recently. Power & FC improves. Has already pump 2 times. I may try Shell 95 next as Caltex station is very hard to find in my area.

Altis2016 1st Gear August 24, 2016 Share August 24, 2016 I've used Caltex95 for a very long time and it is not supposed to have power and good FC ! Anyway, do feedback on Shell. Yes. Initially when the car is new, I experiment with Esso 92,95, 98. I find the higher octane I used, I feel more power and it takes lesser RPM to reach highway speed. However, FC remains the same. When crusing aro 80-85 km/h. Esso 92, just above the 1.5KRPM mark. Esso 95, cover the 1.5K RPM mark and Esso 98 just below 1.5K RPM mark. After the 5000Km service, Esso 95 just above the 1.5KRPM mark till now @9000km. FC suffer. Just switch to Caltex 95 recently, when crusing aro 80-85 km/h, RPM still above the 1.5K RPM mark. But more power & FC improve. I have no doubt that if I used Caltex 98, it will give me more power. My driving style does not suit 98 as I find it move off too fast from stop position especially in city drive. Will try for 1 month before I switch to Shell. Will update experience in this forum?

Yeah, with ron98, I need to be more mindful about the accelerator pedal.
Sglanevo 2nd Gear August 24, 2016 Share August 24, 2016 now on my 3rd pump of caltex95. So far mileage seems slightly better. so many factors to FC. light or heavy foot. but mainly i think is the % of highway vs city driving. or similarly if you u r always on the go, FC will be awesome. When there is constant start and stop driving, FC suffers the most. There is why newer technology like stop and start engine when car is idling at traffic lights, suppose to help to FC which Altis dont hve. Only Qashqai and mazda. AFAIK, start-stop technology, the parts used must be designed for that purpose which I think probably it can be expensive. As there would be a "special" battery involved, IIRC, I calculated (somewhere before) that the savings can be insignificant due to the cost of this battery. Also, besides light or heavy foot, EO affects FC quite directly.
Altis2016 1st Gear August 24, 2016 Share August 24, 2016 I always think that FC is dependent on how, when and where u drive the car. Talking about EO. My colleague who is driving a vezel bought same time as me ask me whether I have this feeling that sometimes the car don't drive so smoothly and @ times, it can be very smooth. I also has this experience. It is especially evident early in the morning. The feeling is like having greater resistance. the first time I experience it is just before the 5K servicing. Recently, it came back again aro 8K. Not sure whether it is the EO.

I juz wnt good fc and its good for me.Juz wnt this ride to be worry free like my g9 b4 although my fc for g9 is worst at ard 10km/L. Haha Anyways after my 3 yrs with BM, im svcg with Riverview. In the 7 yrs i hve changed kyb thai suspension to MIJ KYB (no issues till scrap), right light switch controller (heard im the only one with this issue), aircon radiator (dirty and clogged) and lastly the worst carrot to date. Engine mounting when car is scrapping in 1 yrs time. That it. Summon all my major issues over the course of 7 yrs. goos or bad as compared to other makes and brands, im not sure. Anyone care to share? Edited August 24, 2016 by Sglanevo

Recently, it came back again aro 8K. Not sure whether it is the EO. To put it simply, the engine needs to warm up - but that will result in different views and perspective ! To put it more complex, the engine oil needs to reach the right viscosity, not optimally, but enough to feel lesser resistance. Also, recently, I came to know that there is a CVT warmer which make me believe that perhaps the CVT fluid also need to reach the right viscosity (temperature). On your experience before 5k and around 8k - were you caught in one or two massive jams or your driving involves a lot of extensive start-stop or idle ? Hmm. Hard to debate. Beside FC, I also take S$ per km into consideration.I remember very clearly my bro in law bought the batch of Altis MIT when the Thai Factory is in operation the first year back in 2005. The workmanship was really bad like rusty parts and car boot has to bang hard to close. So when fellow bro skeptical of MIT, I can empathize with them. My bro in law renew COE with mileage 280k. Over the 10 years period 1.) change suspension twice 2.) engine mounting on 8th year 3.) power window on driver side intermittent. 4.) air con radiator once on the 8th year

Henceforth, will you be always using TRD EO? IMHO, you should use it every 30k service. I first experience this just before 5K. After 5K servicing, I went back 3 times to BM within 1&1/2 week to complain and suspect that they give me mineral EO. They drain the EO away and refill it again ensuring me it is synthetic. Later I found that it is because they reduce my tire pressure from 35psi to 32psi. I put it to 34psi and the problem go away.Aro 8k, you cannot believe it. The whole week I was caught in terrible jam. The worst one took me 1&1/2 HR to travel from united square to Pasir Ris which normally take me 45mins during peak hrs. Ever since then, this feeling of resistance came. In addition, when I now accerate slowly and release the accelerator slowly if I find it too fast, I feel a slight pull. It is like driving a Manuel car when u switch to higher gear. Just that this pull is many many times softer which only the driver can feel it. I am puzzled: 1.) why I nvr have this issue of EO & CVT reaching the right temperature until 8k? 2.) is TRD 5w30 same as other brand of 5w30? 3.) I ever ram the demo car to 5k rpm until dual BTO kick in and the feeling is same smooth. I am just worry this slight tug is due to major parts. **dual VVTI

Don't care and continue to drive without any incident for the remaining two years. Upon renewal, switch the gear box with friend who scrape the car. Engine light off and so far so good. The EO and CVT reaching the right temp applies to cold start. In my experience, no warm up and warm up makes a difference in drive-ability which may explain the resistance felt when cold start. TRD 5w30 is from Motul which is ester based. Ester based have cleaning properties. If you feel really an issue, send back for warranty. ↡ Advertisement
