Kusje Supersonic April 17, 2015 Share April 17, 2015 Case closed! However now that it's out I tell u Give her a few mths she will leave. Then minister come say we destroy another CITIZEN career Case closed just because IDA said so? We need to stand up against this. Naturalised citizen or natural born citizen is secondary but how can IDA just brush this under the carpet right in front of our eyes? Even if it were a pureblood Singapore citizen, I'd expect IDA to give her the sack. Which ministry is IDA under again?
Lala81 Hypersonic April 17, 2015 Share April 17, 2015 Case closed! However now that it's out I tell u Give her a few mths she will leave. Then minister come say we destroy another CITIZEN career This is idiotic. If i'm the boss, if i want to keep her, i would say "we recognise the issue, we apologise for our oversight as our primary concern is her qualifications at the undergraduate level. She has performed well so far, but in view of this incident, we will be assessing her performance quarterly" and let the thing blow over. Instead of this sibei crap excuse.
Poohbor 4th Gear April 17, 2015 Share April 17, 2015 Many years ago, there was this FT CEO of an MNC that lied about his qualification. Turned out that he wasn't even a graduate. But under his leadership, business was thriving. He was asked to leave after being pau toh-ed and was immediately pouched by a competitor company at the helm (degree or no degree). And no surprise that their business is also thriving under his stewardship. Clearly he was a liar and all of us would question his integrity and all. But this may not be the "quality" that the company is looking for.

Poohbor 4th Gear April 17, 2015 Share April 17, 2015 I always remembered that we have lots of b**tards in command during my NS days. And we will always complain to our OC about how incompetent or unreasonable these ppl are in our eyes. But the answer I got was, "I don't even care if he is the biggest geng king or b**tard of the day. What I care is that he can get the F**king job done all the time". But this may not be the "quality" that the company is looking for. We may have no doubt about a person's quality but it is more important how the company handles the situation. I agree with Lala81, put it in a more honest and diplomatic way. Their reply seems like brushing away the "feedback" as "none of your concern". And as a company, if the MNC had stated in their recruitment policy that the position requires at least a degree and the new hire had lied. Then under good corporate governance, he/she would have to leave to uphold the company policy. If not how would the management convinced their staff to follow the policy? That's business world. Same in government agency, if the cabinet ministers are so concern with integrity and honesty they have to explain why a lapse in the recruitment process and not to brush it away. In ancient time, they would have committed harakiri

But the answer I got was, "I don't even care if he is the biggest geng king or b**tard of the day. What I care is that he can get the F**king job done all the time". There you go Very true. When I interview foreigners with hard-to-verify credentials, I don't even bother to verify, but rather make them go through a barrage of practical tests and questions that force them to think on their feet. If they are able to demonstrate their technical ability, they get hired. On the flip side, I have also seen many with "tok-kong" credentials, but cannot even answer simple questions that our local poly grads can answer. And by the way, many of these foreign universities award "Bachelors" degree in 3 years and "Masters" degree in the 4th year. 75% score is called first class. Go figure.

The founding members of the party comprised political activists from the three main ethnic communities of Singapore and included personalities such as Lee Kuan Yew, Toh Chin Chye, Goh Keng Swee, C. V. Devan Nair, S. Rajaratnam, Abdul Samad Ismail and Fong Swee Suan.[1] They were mostly lawyers, journalists and trade unionists by profession.[2] The inaugural meeting of the PAP was held at the Victoria Memorial Hall, which was attended by some 1,500 people. Among them were union supporters and key political leaders of the day such as Tunku Abdul Rahman, leader of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), and Dato Sir Tan Cheng Lock, leader of the Malayan Chinese Association (MCA).[3] During its formative years, the main objectives of the PAP as laid out in the party’s 1954 manifesto were to seek for the independence of Singapore through merger with the Federation of Malaya, to set up a democratic-socialist government, to create a multi-ethnic society, and to establish a fair and just society.[4] The party’s strong stand against corruption is reflected in its logo – the lightning symbol in red encircled by a blue ring against a white background. The red lightning represents action, the blue ring stands for the unity of all races, while the white background symbolises purity and integrity.[5] The party uniform of white-on-white also signifies the purity and the incorruptibility of its members.[6] The first election that the PAP contested was the 1955 Legislative Assembly general election where it won three out of the four seats it contested. Lee Kuan Yew was one of the party’s victors after he captured the Tanjong Pagar ward with a 5,121-vote majority.[7] In the 1959 Legislative Assembly general election, the PAP won the mandate to form the government after it enjoyed a landslide victory by capturing 43 out of 51 seats in the Legislative Assembly. Lee, who was then the secretary-general of the PAP, subsequently became the first prime minister of Singapore.[8]
