Convertible/Roadster vs coupe

Convertible is nice to have but very expensive to pay so much more for the retractable roof of car of same size and similar spec as the coupe. Roadster has to be two seater right? For me a two seater is definite no no. At least have to be a four seater like convertible, coupe.

Haha. That is exactly what I do when I don't wanna give anyone a ride - e.g. when there is an office lunch, or big meeting outside I will drive my convertible so can only take 1 at most.

Haha space only for the office chio bu

Sometimes there's no better view than seeing a SYT in a micro-mini trying to retain her dignity while trying to get out of a Lotus or something similar.

And I'm torn between my urge to be a chivalrous white knight by going up to help her and just hanging back at the right distance for the best viewing experience. [sly]

Funny thing you mention this - I recently put on Stone Guard for my headlights at home. I was chatting with the guy while he was working and he was telling me about one of his customers who was very keen on a Lotus but his wife put her foot down after she tried getting out while wearing a skirt. He actually started explaining why, when I just interrupted him with "zao geng, right?" and he LOLed. :D

me also first time own a roadster.

this are my findings so far after owning for 1 week.

1. really got more people stare despite it being not an expensive roadster.

2. don't dare to open top in day light because scared sun burnt, but more importantly, too much staring, feel embarrassed.

3. open top at night is not exactly cooling, still can feel warmth, so much still switch on air con.

4. switching on air con in open top will cause moisture build up at the vents.

5. very troublesome in the sense that you cannot park in open top mode cause your cash card and coupon might get stolen and people might flick rubbish inside.

6. very extremely prone to vandalism especially cutting the canvas with penknife, lucky my neighborhood no jealous people.

7. road noise is more apparent, you might get frightened when a huge lorry go pass because of the noise.

You working hard just to see ZG? 😁

Wanted to add in for Coupes:

7. For gentlemen, when you are dressed in suit. Your passenger (at the back) need to alight and your front passenger dunno how to push up the seat to let the back passenger alight. You have to do it and it makes you look like a "chauffeur (no offence intended) " instead of a businessmen.

Haha, yes and no.. Some girls, you really wanna see, but not easy, so, this way better.. =P

But honestly, I love those cars, even though I've never driven any of those, or even sat in one before.. The only convertible I've driven (rented) was a Toyota MR-S, and boy, was it fun..

I used to own a z4 E85 convertible..

This is my take

If you can afford it, go for it. Don't get the coupe as it doesn't make any difference other than its 2 door.

I always have friends telling me what's the point of driving a convertible in Singapore with its warm weather... Well, I always drive top down during the night time.. It's a very different feel but of coz, that depends on the car also. I drove before a Peugeot convertible.. The feeling sucks!!

It's more advisable to get a second car if you have family commitments. I have a 12 yr old daughter. Drove the car till I got another new born. Sold both cars and get a SUv instead

For piak piak, forget it! No chance at all! But if you have wife nagging in the car, open the top.. You won't be able to hear her nagging. Best is .. Go into the cTe tunnel, it will shut her up.. Haha

I think nowadays convertible in SG is no longer practical... tried driving with the windows down earlier and all I got was warm air coming in even though its already night time.

Don't they say a coupe has stiffer/more rigid body? And that convertible usually a bit heavier?

This is one of the main advantages of driving a manual.

The worst is while I shifting gear and rub my male fren knee.

And this is one of the main disadvantages. :D

Closest you can get it drive it up to Genting or Cameron. Personally I prefer Cameron as the roads are more windy and much longer. First time I used the heater when I drove down to Tanah Ratah to buy Roti Prata at 6am. Spend a few days there just driving up and down because Cameron. ^_^

This is one of the main advantages of driving a manual.

4 manual on sale, but the depre is insane for those. I was looking out for Elise (not that I can afford it now), and the depre is even more insane, those old ones are selling for similar depre as new ones or even more. Then again, so are most cars nowadays.

Anyway, rub male friend knee, tell him off, move his knee away, if rub female knee, just look at her and smile.

Not for me. Had one for a few weeks and gave up. Too much exhaust fumes and I am very scared of the tropical heat/sun.
