titaniclexus 3rd Gear May 24, 2018 Share May 24, 2018 Aha...thats my plan for my future servicing too. Booked 8.30 for 1k km servicing on a Saturday end up almost 4 then finish. My office is also relatively near 4 plus km away. Will just send in the morning and collect after work. Same here, i went for my 1k servicing at Leng Kee, left my car there at 9am and collected at 5pm plus. Morning told them what i wanna to change and add-on then go back office n wait for their call in the evening for collection. But the diff is I had very bad experienced with them, they have not done QC of my car, gave me trouble and force go back the next day cos of the small issue due to "alarm hang" caused all the electrical stuff not working properly ..... phui! I am planning after the free 10k service with them then go outside workshop.... still looking for comfortable workshop.... ↡ Advertisement
Zpliu 3rd Gear May 24, 2018 Share May 24, 2018 haha... Immediately give way, I do not think so as usually there will be safety factor designed and life span of parts linking to it might decreased. But in time to come, issues will happen. But when it does, it will start with some "sound" first.Yup. There will definitely have safety factors designed in. We as users should be aware of what is happening. Even if it is fully stock we should always try to listen and feel if the ride feels any different. OnceInALifeTime 2nd Gear May 24, 2018 Share May 24, 2018 Hi KC, Noted and tks .. Like decisions unless life and death, I choose to err on getting them made and corrected if I need to. Else you can wonder all you want and nothing get done. For theoreotical discussion, this is great start and good to know but of little use imho without verification and validation .. hence lab work and experiment if you had done sciences in schools, JC and Uni. On the discussion on arb, it is just a small part of the car and it really does not matter if even 200% increase in torsion since you have no clue what is the limit right ? 300% or 400% ? On validation and verification of arb, I believe I had done enuff with both cusco and wrx sti installed as compared to stock to know betta on its positive effects and negative effects, if any, than any theory or doubts to benefit me but I leave it as that. Even if it breaks or do not work, I will just change it but hope bros do not have have to do so while learning from other on same experimentation and experience .. hence the sharing. Cheers. Richard Hi Richard, As mentioned, we had different focus. I do understand that you might dismiss my opinions that I had put forward here. I would not be possibly informing that I had implemented onto a Forester! As I do not have one yet. However, I had changed Anti-roll Bars on other vehicle previously. Hence, I had some experience on this subject and prompted my research and comments. I am surprised when you mentioned that, "it is just a small part of the car". As to me; it is one of a crucial part of the vehicle suspension system. As it affects handling and traction. I am unsure on the duration that you had tested various anti-roll bars. Pertaining to Lab work; Theory and Practical experiment, might different slightly. As usually theory or calculations are based on "ideal" situation or based on limited set of factors to calculate the answers. Usually, calculation will provide "ideal" results and to implement on the the real world, safety factor will be added onto. Hence, based on high percentage of additional loading, it is just matter of time, the weakest point in the system will give way. Kindly note that I am not dismissing your comments. I am just sharing mine. I do not expect you to agree with me, as our approach is different in the initial. Thank you. Best regards, K. C.
Calng75 Clutched May 24, 2018 Share May 24, 2018 Are you going to service your car or just install this STIL rear ARB only? If you are due to service then ok, but if you want to save some $$$, you can just buy from them and go to BKS for installation. MI is charging S$80 labour before GST while BKS is charging S$30 before GST, you can save $50 buck for petrol man! Hope it is not too late..... cheers. Thanks for the advice. Lazy to go bks since doing it together with servicing at MI. Anyway the staff was more than happy to install it. Nvr really tell me it’s the STI rear ARB. Jus mentioned that it’s the rear arb and a lot of Forester owners had installed it and some even had it installed during collection of their new car.

Even if it is fully stock we should always try to listen and feel if the ride feels any different. Actually what i learnt after i got my FNA is, if we scare/worries of warranty void by MI or any modification damage of parts, then leave it as stock, don't change anything and remain stock is the best. I do agreed that when you change one parts and another parts will be affected as well, this is how the accessories shop make money, how I wishes my wallet can afford all the changes i wanted.... For me, before i change/upgrade anything i used to source from opinion in different forum/FB/etc. Some people prefer ICE, rim, BBK, handle, stability, outlook, interior, sound proof, solar film, etc, etc..... all are individual preference, we choose what we want depend on our wallet only... Nevertheless, you will see my comments if I believe shared info is misleading against what I had more conclusively experienced .. please consider them nonsense and ignore as needed. Rear arb is a small part of the car to me as overall handling,.grip, traction etc. depends on subframe that may or not have as found out, springs, dampers or coilover, tyres, original car characteristics etc. etc. else it would have been nice to change one "small" part and have night and day positive difference ... I also wish to save my wallet if possible but to just ponder all various theories is not me. Cheers. Richard

Orixy 2nd Gear May 24, 2018 Share May 24, 2018 Hi Orixy, Fxt has the subframe because it need to be stiffen up due the higher torque and power as compared to fna.. hence also stiffer suspension setup than the fna. When stiffen up, you can then realised full potential of this power and torque as it allow you to push your ride further. Aaah ..french is still conti with known superior ride comfort and even my nissan uk made qashqai is much betta on ride comfort and compliant ride despite all I did for my fxt.. lol ! More importantly, foresters are designed for terrain in mind and not truly a 100% road car like your previous french mpv or my suv pretender of qashqai. Cheers. Richard Hi Richard, thanks for sharing on the FXT sub-frame. I will just let it be and choose to go over humps slowly... :P

I will just let it be and choose to go over humps slowly... :P Hi Richard, when i free and backside itchy, may borrow your stock FXT sub-frame try on my FNA to feel any diff bo? If good, then may consider STI Flexi sub-frame or maybe STI spring directly..... Btw, the STI Flexi sub-frame izzit can be adjusted the level of stiffness? Hi Titanic, Sure and anytime ... believe there is some difference with and without subframe on handling especially during cornering on lateral performance but sti pink springs will certainly have more impact since it is also vertical aspects ... hence the concern on hardness/harshness commonly felt on these lowered/stiffer springs. I can only hope what I already done on primarily SP, autofoam, softer wrx sti rear arb and flexible subframe can alleviate these concerns while alleviating the still slight jitters and instability felt for a more compliant ride. No, flexible subframe cannot be adjusted on its flexibility. Cheers. Richard Edited May 24, 2018 by richard_crl032

Believe it make sense since safer and less wear n tear to slow down over humps anyway .. as long as reasonable. It is law of diminishing return and if it still irks you later or have a good year end bonus or any other windfall, it is the only compliant ride orientated mod that I am aware of ... I sold my NIB cusco stiffener, front sti stiffener, pink spring, Bilstein B6, Cusco rear arb but had this installed. Cheers. Richard
Scoobyfxt 3rd Gear May 24, 2018 Share May 24, 2018 Reading the past few pages here, i have to say for members who may be the silent majority like i am and noob on techical stuff, the generous sharing of personal experience by the few more active, experienced members on their personal experience/knowledge have allowed me to learn more about the car and the possible options to enhance it. There is often no perfect solution or right vs wrong. Be it tried n tested (or trial n error) solutions, on paper discussion on theories or sharing of ingenious DIY solutions, all these contributions have enriched this forum and were done so in good faith and in the spirit of sharing. One man's meat is another's poison. The depth of pockets also vary. Some more gung ho members may just say why bother to talk or research so much, just do it ! Fortunately, I am also quite well versed in googling for info, having engrg career and educated formally in Sciences as well as also quite thick skinned to ask for advice and even call for help from bros to try out their mods as much as possible e.g. suspension (many), alternator booster fuse (Chucky), autolock module (Yellowbie) etc. before taking the plunge. Nevertheless, all these are still subjective to one's past experience and expectation with resulting different opinions which is fine and dainty ... but yes, there are admittedly wants that I follow NIKE especially when no bros had tried e.g. aircon mod, wrx stil seats etc. On the other hand, there are also such wants like COX dampers from Yamaha that are >>sgd1.5 that I doubt on significance and did not take the plunge ... yet. Let's see any forester bro game for this COX dampers used in some models of stock lexus: http://syms.jp/product/cox%E3%80%80body%E3%80%80damper%E3%80%80setting%E3%80%80by%E3%80%80syms%E3%80%80for-sj-forester/ Alternator booster fuse here: https://www.hkbelect.com/product/154-mk3-mini-blade-75a-electronic-fuse-version-2015/ Cheers, Richard Hi Titanic, Sure and anytime ... believe there is some difference with and without subframe on handling especially during cornering on lateral performance but sti pink springs will certainly have more impact since it is also vertical aspects ... hence the concern on hardness/harshness commonly felt on these lowered/stiffer springs. Richard Hi Titanic, Just to add ... if there is only 1 thing you wish to do, I would recommend to just do the sti pink spring especially for the FNA already without the subframe as this had the most impact as mentioned. Cheers, Richard
Orixy 2nd Gear May 24, 2018 Share May 24, 2018 On the point of sharing, just wanna share on my recent mods that really improved the way the FXT drives. Here goes: - Installed a GoFastBits (GFB) full recirculation valve T9107 to replace the stock plastic valve. - Installed an aftermarket full aluminium charge pipe to replace the stock plastic charge pipe that was much narrower and restricts airflow into intercooler. - Replaced all the hose clamps from turbo inlet piping, to intercooler, to throttle body, with much better quality Norma/Breeze/Orbit clamps. End result was WOW! The boost now comes fast and furious and holds boost until you let go of throttle. Highly recommended to do all 3 at one go and see what your FXT can really do. Damage: the GFB valve was installed for $280 and the charge pipe can get for $580 (Perrin USA) or $480 (Simota taiwan), choice is yours :) Some readings and references: https://www.facebook.com/TSGMotorworks/photos/basw.Abpp76swMrCP6EwJoHU2iT-AqVTSYVRy9lr8HYfafGXKamMjYihHzBgXgGK8innaa6JFpbycPmkav_9p1Y_R9ho4u42Yf4ER_5MpQUsJbvNaWcxKEsddad7BHzdiLOngWT15LXajN3oDOBfMcSgiV5S_.1708829029196844/1708829029196844/?type=1&opaqueCursor=AbroXGlSDI1At5doVFEJycMKUvgnE0kKGMfS7nOExuPo2nGgRy0LzCm_82zPHm7q0-55JKbmhzt16BcGqZHzR7dV4-PjNc9nXte6s9is0CMhBnRjjKtugSeMwuI5EmOTDX_aCGu4MynNix1R_Vp3WrvcnXTDKnAvjVXI7hN59UZr6gL2XXZvchKaCXEqF2482A_b1bZVf2bQvUxGzSECIrPM6JleSiOl_iy1KTLCpGPNAfI_yk1guimslGBvL2cF_zoMYdyeESpucpYfo0p3aDoprEjHDNTqcpgmtYX9D0PYKcdXgReTOuLOVKy-hnoTGHLGS71Us9M97pTekqNlKjtz7jsjzyIsNn4MpvECY91FqeL5SIqA14um1PCZqfwKfSKVnjmo5mTsFBzeOwsorm5TRS5RKUa_DwXY5CiY_vqHWEIH_InQ21IiFMbLLmrl7-1pAwFE9lxteDTnJ_HGLtGy9jhI0raXp0NqaO25Fsqb8diddswEEA4wA6dRjt1Uf8rJz3Ceo7CvE7ROfS06yzRhjK0wWYOmsDmofiAdgwZUf5TLUDEzdVYys8DnbRmCKGONxsw68tLnMsK2hmQV1HJ0Xk5W64onyPoogg8hD6ZzbfFdQz3IhT-QuEcot-MEDbuAOo_CCkUbfTKxEHGdoDRY0k3KW4moBmLWBDQERk_QFa4DWAkOF8dlIGp3QUqAWdwNJX9G5-8hPTwaUi4sBmw2yeBP2NYfRjHhulJ-o4ZjIg&theater https://www.newprovisionsracing.com/products/perrin-charge-pipe-kit-15-wrx http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f207/danoz-fix-fa20dit-turbo-clamps-318129/
