2016 Jan, 1st COE Bidding Exercise

Actually I would like to ask. Why don't they make the bidder pay what he bidded for instead of the winning ?

 

I mean I can keep bidding 1 million dollars for my coe. I will never have to pay the 1 million dollars but the winning bid which is about 60k but I will get my car since I am the top.bidder, right? Unless there is a freak everyone thought the same and bidded a million dollars as well but the possibility is higher that everyone bids 2 dollars.

Am quite sure if 1 got the cash in bank to bid watever million,that's the price 1 pay.....n the car tag along will be the watever million bid shown in lta website under car owners asset

No point looking back and think "WHAT IF" once you have purchase is my advice.

You will not be able to predict the trend correct totally.

Like what I have said, buy within the means of able to repay the loan and you are comfortable with the price.

 

My car was left with 6 mths when I bought my Altis 2 mths ago.

Although I feel it may drop a bit more but I was comfortable with the loan period and amount thus the purchase. 

 

Don make your own life miserable by keep comparing ^^

Actually nowadays very difficult to find nice Cat A cars liao.

 

Alot of cars exceed 125hp even for 1.6L cars..

Maybe that's why demand for Cat A soften so much whereas Cat B still remained

 

 

Even a Chevy Cruze 1.4T also 138hp liao.. The NA version pple try liao no kick.. where got want to buy

 

Even basic Hyundai cars like Elantra also 130hp..

 

People would rather pay like a few K more to get a better spec car which falls into Cat B

No its not. its quite well documented.

its called the buyer's regret and especially applicable for big items, unduly influenced by seller or due to irrational decisions

But the best thing to do as many forumers point out is that once you purchased , just move on. You can;t undo the decision.

 

A new car would lose the 100% or more additional sum on the  OMV once registered. So COE dropped by 10k means literally no change in ride from financial point 

 

Many forumers also warned of being prudent and careful.

This is a sure sign that the top end growth is slowing and the effect will trickle down.

There are still few models ....

 

VW with 1.4 and 122 bhp (Provided the GB don't fail)

Merc with 1.6 and 122 bhp (A,B, CLA, GLA)

Audi with 1.4 and 122 bhp

Volvo .... D2

 

Only BMW not there .... a few decent choices

I think we are only one in the world buying car so complicated.

PI, AD, OMV, COE, Parf, CEV, PQP, 1600>, 1600<, 97kw>, 97kw<, CatA/B/E etc etc etc....

Yes.  And for those available in Cat A, some are specially catered models.

Elantra, actually in most markets are either sold as 1.6 GDI or 1.8 mpi.  Its a Cat B model.

Current Altis 1.6, Sylphy 1.6, Cibic 1.6 also similar.  Elsewhere sells as 1.8.  For Altis & Cibic, have 2.0.

 

Putting aside catered models, we're left with Swift, Jazz, Note, City, Vios, Almera....

coe price drop is good for consumers' pocket in general

 

but do note that drop doesn't necessarily translate into better bargaining power

Every country has their guideline for tax rebate and CO2 emission standard.

Such as Europe, Japan, India, China & thailand has taken into consideration of the engine capacity and Co2 emission

As such, I believe SG also has category guideline so that CAT limited to <1.6L and 130bhp.

Conti car such as Audi, Renault, VM etc has many CAT A car available these day.

Also, may Japan para import also fall into CAT A

Depreciation of resale lagi no brainer as on par with or some even higher with new.

My depreciation value is slightly less then 12K, not far from ur. I bought also to tie over d high COE for 1-2yrs. And my hope is more of those cars bought in 2005-2006 scrapping n more Coe released. Soon.... d ones tat r sad r those new cars bought with high COE.
