Memory function on driver seat adjustment - worth paying?

Thanks for the tip. What kind of cars have such feature? Must be high end cars. Care to share?

 

I know that Fords with MyKey have this function as well as most of the contis. Usually if they have memory seats they might be able to bind to individual keys.

Thanks to all the bros for their replies. It is quite hard for me to decide, but either I pay more for a top-end car with memory function, or go low and buy the cheaper cars with manual adjustment. I suspect the slow electric seat adjustment will drive me nuts since I have to adjust almost daily.

i second that. she will find it troublesome having to adjust each time you pass on the car to her. she will welcome the memory settings.

 

i share my car. memory settings (though very slow) is a must-have.

you got a point there, she may be right in terms of economical/money sense.

However, with time, may appreciate those finer things in life like these automatic adjustment of seat...worth the money.

 

More infos/update

1) Electric seat - generally slower to adjust compared to manual. 

2) Memory seat - need electric seat in the first place. But not all Electric seat adjustment have memory function.

3) Memory seat - cannot be done after market (factory fitted), so have to decide when booking (if the car have those feature as an option)

4) Some cars have memory seat for passengers too

5) Some cars you can adjust passenger seat from your seat button ... (Thanks WT Know)

6) newer cars memory seat function are disabled when Auto Gear not in Park position or when car is not fully stationary. In my opinion, this is not necessary, not a safety feature, in fact irritating.

7) Some cars, the memory button not one touch, need to keep on pressing till the end.

8) Most have 3 memories, others only 2.

See, this is my dilemma. I've done all my test drives already. I would prefer a luxury sedan but am ok with a regular sedan like the Altis. In terms of driving comfort (which I prize) my favorite was the Passat B8, second was Teana 2.0. Camry my wife don't like. Accord is over-priced. 

 

Unfortunately Passat B8 is rather expensive and a lot of friends warn me about VW service center. Teana 2.0 don't have memory seat, need to upgrade to 2.5 (the road tax is scary). Altis Elegance don't have memory seat also. The cheapest luxury sedan with memory seat is Mazda 6, which I like the looks but I don't find the test drive anything special.

The Teana feels smoother and more "cushy" even going over road humps. The Mazda I could feel the road vibrations. In terms of power both felt about the same. The Passat felt the best, hard to describe but it just felt the most luxurious.

More road vibration unusually means lower suspension better handling?

 

We had a Cefiro 2.3 (similar to teana 2.5) it was a great car and engine never gave any issues till we scrapped it. I would reccomend if ur budget permits

You may want to look for the Kia K3 SX model. I remembered it comes with memory seats and the price is very reasonable now. Only thing it is a 1.6L Na.I believe the price is less than 100K now.

I had the same dilemma with the Camry (2.0/2.5). Driver memory seat was high on the want list.

 

In the end, decided to forgo it and went for the 2.0 to reduce road tax and FC costs. 

 

It's been 5 months and we have gotten used to seat adjustments on a daily basis.

I say, if money not a major problem, go for it. Will not regret.

 

 

When I was gona purchase my i45, I also consider the extra features between (2.0/2.4)

 

1) 2.4 - has electric seats for both driver and passenger.

2) 2.4 - comes with HID lights.

3) 2.4 - comes with cruise control

4) 2.4 - more powerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

 

 

For my case, was $5k difference.

Worth it or not depends on individual. For me, its no use cuz all the people that drive my car is around the same height and same seating position. And hardly have anyone drive my car anyway. Over 10 years, Only had to adjust my seat 2-3 times.

The forward/backwards function is not working.

I have long legs & find it uncomfortable driving with my knees in contact with the dashboard!

Do you still hear the motor sound? Maybe the forwards-backwards motor is spoilt, if no sound. If it still buzzes a bit, maybe something is stuck in the rail preventing it from moving properly?
