Nowadays, convertible got anti-roll bar de. So when flipped, wont kill the occupants.

won't kill but the convertible structure would most likely be damaged from impact and no more water-tight.

That guy who heard the crash and saw the car in the river sinking, could ran 20m to the police post (as reported) to informed the policemen on duty there ..... :slow:

If he reversed the scenario & ran to the crash site and jump in. Is it possible that he could at least save one life or both ... [:(]

no la.. they gave me my car model 1 (CLA)

there is 2 holes for me to click to the floor. but coz i put the original floor mat underneath so it cannot click and the floor mat will move around sometime.

Just mocking you lah.

Just use the 3 M and discard the original lah...safety more important. Besides, the original mat is a dust trapper...even vacuum also doesn't help.

Be safe and not sorry bro [flowerface]

In this situation, no need to f**k SCDF

by the time they come it is too late already

for submerged vehicle, if the passer by did not help, SCDF 5-10 mins later is just to retrieve the bodies

And for passer by, 9pm at night , car submerged means see nuts in the water - normal aunty/uncle would not go in the water.

I would like to think that i would have tried, but doors probably autolocked, and breaking glass under water?

plus car was upside down, and you have 1-2 mins to do it...

what can you say.........

With car submerged, airbag activated that pushes both the bodies to the seat plus a locked door....... Most important, in the dark. A person drowns within 2 minutes, much faster if you panic and take in water.

Seriously, the best rescue team also have next to zero chance.

The frailty of life. Gives you great perspective.

Will need tons of composure to do this.

Even with this knowledge, when emergency strikes, will likely freak out (for many).

When Emergency strikes ... always think what to do next  and not keep thinking of what had happened.   :a-noway:

U need to spend more time with dangerous people .........  :yuush:

C&C gave free 3D floor mat. These floor mat are nice and thick. However, when used together with the original floor mat, it is too thick and and will stuck on top of the accelerator. it happen to me at least 2 to 3 times. I have to step on the brakes ( while the accelerator is still reving) and manually pull the mat down. I guess this might be what had happen.

2ndly, from 1 of the photos i saw, the side curtain airbag of the car is deployed. Most prob the ladies was knock unconscious or the side curtain airbag was blocking them from escaping.

RIP to both of them

I would say the original car mat is usually the best. The worst are those 3M car mat or likes, especially when they don't fit too well.

For me, an addition layer of car mat is very very dangerous, the car mat could curl up in front and restrict your brake pedal.

Maybe slippers got trapped at the pedal or carpet? Can't rule out this possibility

Is a possibility too. I got a colleague, happen to be lady too. Her sandal got caught on d accelerator she crashed into a heavy vehicle. d car damage was very bad but luckily she was ok.

RIP to the mother and daughter.

This accident was very bizarre. My assumption is that ladies are very unlikely to drive round a bend at obscene speed. To drive into the bush, bang through the barriers and into the canal need a certain speed. They have also managed to maneuver out of the carpark, so the steering and the brakes should be alright.

Based on the CCTV video, they were both walking happily and carrying groceries in the carpark. I don't think these are signs of suicide.

Foul play?

Not likely.

Maybe panic as the acceleration pedal step by mistake. same as the JB case the woman drive into the sea?

It is understood the vehicle has still not been recovered from beneath the canal, pictured

Avon and Somerset Constabulary said it was called to the incident at around 6pm.

A spokesman said: 'The bodies of two people have been located following the road traffic incident off Feeder Road.

'The incident took place when a car, driving from the direction of Short Street, failed to stop on Feeder Road and drove into the canal.

'At this time, the vehicle has yet to be recovered, but we do not believe anyone else was inside the car at the time of the incident.'

Recording and rehearsal studio boss Steve Mallison, 44, was helping bands unload gear into the nearby RS Studios when the incident unfolded.

Several roads have been closed and officers said they would remain so 'for some time'

He said: 'The car came down the road near Short Street and failed to stop when it got to the turning by Feeder Road.

'It went straight into the railings and literally went straight to the bottom.

'A middle aged couple in the street nearby were really traumatised by what they had seen.

'Loads of emergency services then raced down to the scene - I've never seen so many police cars and ambulances in quick succession.

'There's been a few cars which have gone in the river in the past 10 or 15 years we've been here, but none as bad as this.

Around 40 emergency services vehicles were called to the scene according to witnesses

'I knew straight away that it was very serious - especially after seeing 40 emergency vehicles and two river dive teams.'

Police added several road closures are likely to remain in place 'for some time' and are advising motorists to avoid the area.

Avon and Somerset Police also said the bodies of the two deceased had yet to be formally identified.

A message on its official Twitter page read: "Both bodies located at incident off Feeder Rd are adults. Please do not speculate online. Our thoughts are with both families."

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen the vehicle beforehand, is asked to contact 101 and quote log number 741.
