I got a feeling the above is same as many people

but no one here will admit it.

:D

Ssshhhhhh dun pichar lobang

Jokes aside... i remember when i was much younger... i went for a job interview at a semi con manufacturer

I had many frens in there and they told me i am suitable due to my man management experience.

the only thing is that i need to commit to night shift..

i did that but still din get the job

i think what went wrong was:

The interviewer ask me why i left my previous company. (i.e. before the job i was in during the interview). I said that that was my first job. i joined the company cos i was an intern there and they ask me to join them after i grad. i finally left the company becos the company was not able to pay my salary i.e. owe me salary. His face changed and ask me "Is that how you repay their kindness?"

After this question, you can sensed that he just want to finish the interview.

After so many years, i still cannot figure out why he had such a big reaction.

Maybe i will get flamed for this LOL

Your interviewer loves his co...

A job is a fair deal, co has a need , I fulfill it ,n get paid in return. Nothing more nothing less.. your previous co owe ur salary has nothing to do w repay kindness..That co didn't fulfill their side of the bargain w u..So u hv right to pursue for yr pay.. it's good u didn't get the job as the interviewer may not hv his priorities straightened out..

Some interviewers can be too quick to judge and make assumptions, like in your case. I once went for an interview while serving out notice in my then-current company. Decided to be honest (and naive) in telling the interviewer this, his attitude suddenly changed and said that he doesn't like employees who tender before securing another job. Worst thing is he gave a sarcastic remark when the interview finished, "Good luck in your job search.".

To be fair to him, i can only remember this question and his reaction.

Maybe i have mentioned how the previous company treated me well and etc

But like what you mentioned, i have bills to pay.

I remember he was also surprised that i am not a new grad.

So maybe his HR did NOT do a proper screening. He might be looking for a fresh grad and I already has a few years of working experience.

He might be looking for "clues" to confirm that i dun have the stomach to persist with a job.

Bro,

Agree that it is easier to cast away the idealist glasses in the real world

However, Mindset is very important, but no right or wrong on the different approaches   [:)]

Sure?

Yes, We all work for money

 - So is the company who hires us, less you are the boss - as such, its about who seizes teh call for the day!

After basics secured, we learn to love our staff and our company

 - that is the "most silly" thought, NEVER get into such emo thingy in your workplace

 - this is why there departmental functions established in an organization

Its takes times and goes both ways

 - this how HR comes in - only 1 way; for the employer and that's it....

Life is not so black and white sometimes [:p]

 - it will be VERY black & white when the company wants "formal" with you regardlessly !

here are below average performers.

I reckon about 50% of the people reading this post

are below average in their performance but I think

more than 90% will never admit this.  [thumbsup]

While it's true that fresh grads tend to job hop more frequently than experienced ones, its not a hard fact.. people leave their jobs for whatever reasons that didn't work out, n prospective employers shldnt have preconceived ideas before meeting n hearing out the interviewee.. But being human, we can't detach our emotions from our thoughts, n so stereotyping is ever present.. while HR didn't do a good job to match interviewees to the interviewer reqs, the interviewer shld also look thru the CVs to weed out those dun meet their reqs, n so dun waste each other time to interview.. it's only professional n fair to both parties..Good that u didn't get this job, n instead u got a better one!

That last remark is uncalled for, n shows how unprofessional they are.. so this person likes his staff to look for a job behind his back then tender? Think he has a ego problem who perceives his staff is leaving him Bec he's not good mgr etc.. he will hv staff relationship n retention issue with his kind of suspicious character..Good that you didn't join them too..At least u tried to be honest n you'd do well to go into another company that value honesty.. Thanks for your kind words bro. It is very heartening to read about the stories here and how people emerged stronger. End of the day, we shouldn't despair if an interview didn't work out. There will always be an employer somewhere who will appreciate and see in us what others did not.

I never went to SMU but I also can NATO with the best of them

and my job skills are very questionable.

As if only SMU people are like that.  [thumbsup]

I have said it many times communication is very important

and if we don't learn to BS with the best if them we risk losing

jobs to people that come from countries where BS is a way of life

and they practice it every day.

good point... LOL

I always look on the bright side of life.

So I am very grateful for having only 1

skill in life. I am good in the interview but

completely useless in the job. Then I thought

about it, if I was good in the good but bad in

the interview I would never get the job.

So I am just happy with the 1 skill.
