Steering wheel locks during traffic junctions are absolutely annoying.

 

My habit is to always turn off start stop when I first start the car. Surely that little bit of fuel savings is not worth the slight delay of the engine starting, wheel locking, potential battery draining and possible quicker starter motor spoiling.

 

We must understand the start stop is on by default only for manufacturers to claim for lower FC.

FC not my concern here...so I trying various method for now. Soft braking to prevent start/stop which is the most preferred method for me.

Tilting steering wheel, tried but not practical as car will be slanted, putting to N, don't like it as move off too slow at time.

 

Do agreed, start/stop will just decrease the lifespan of the starter and cycle the battery too much. However, so far, battery voltage was consistent with or with our start/stop. 

serious? you mean the car really wont move if you dont buckle seatbelt? i tot just annoying sound only

Never try unbuckling seat beat but did tried open door to reverse, a very pleasant alarm chiming. Car still can reverse.

Why would you have parking brake on with gear in D? 

 

Anyway Electronic parking brake are used in Hill stop and Stop hold too. No worry on stress. They are design for it.

 

Most will either put to neutral or hold the brake. Putting neutral just not for me, move off too slow, nowadays, just half a second slow, the taxi behind will start honking... 

 

I meant the electronic parking brake. That little lever. Isn't the whole reason to shift to N is so as you could engage the Parking brake? Hahas. I understand that they are designed for it, but it's always good to cut on the wear and tear - and causing unnecessary stress. 

 

I put neutral and pull the parking brake one. Then when the opp site traffic lights turn red then I prep to shift to D and just drive off when green lo. Not much of a delay as well. But whatever floats your boat! Holding the brake is the easiest.

Actually, if want to have richer bass, just mod active sub shld be can liao.. like me! Haha

The only worry is when you change brake pad, then you need to calibrate the electronic brake, not sure if the Impreza needs to or not but other make do.

Holding brake and not letting the start/stop kicking in is not really easy, sometime, do forget or brake too hard that activate start stop.

Would preferred to have eye sight, rear auto braking too.

 

Even better if auto parking is available.

 

And must be free.

Sorry just to confirm, the Impreza comes with hill start assist, or hill stop or stop hold, whatever is the right term. I.e. Does the car stop roll back on slope momentarily?

Yes, u can lift off brake pedal and it will hold in position.

Have to activate button below/beside gear shift.

Works only for up hill not downhill. Level road don't know, never tried.

Button is to On it. Like the start/stop but this is activate the function to on.

E.g when u are in a MSCP and u know there's heavy traffic.

That start/stop is irritating function for those who don't want, need and like it. It would be better to have it activate to On, rather than always on.

 

On the other hand, hill stop assist would be better to have it always On but not sure why is it the opposite. Might be to prevent sensor for having to work overtime anticipating to activate the electronic brake?

SE told me minimum 15 degree uphill slope, then it will works

Been driving with start/stop off.

 

323KM at 33L(Topup at Pump Station) Display 10.5L/100Km

 

50% Expressway(Heavy Traffic), 40% City Driving(Stop & Go Plus Heavy Traffic) and 10% of Idling(Setup/Learn function of features & let ECU learn Idling speed) 

 

Second tank will be with Start/Stop off. Driving city for 3Km Display 9.5L/100KM

 

Noticed battery voltage seem to be low. At time it can be 13.7 to 14 volts but can drop to about 12Volts. Additional electrical are the 2 channel in car cam & mobilephone for Andriod auto connection.

done 200km, 90% highway,  fc 7.4l/100km (or 13.5km/l), start/stop on

Oh no....first experience with the blank screen.

Doing a 3 point turn and screen turned complete green. By the time I completed my 3 point, infotainment restarted and everything back to normal.

Just after shifting to Reverse.

At least it restarted itself and everything back to normal. Just a glitch..
