I'm still having reservations about buying their cars, but not because I don't trust their cars. Firstly, i'm stuck with my current vehicle which has very low resale value. Secondly, I love their Toledo but it only comes in diesel. Given the diesel tax structure and the upcoming changes to the vehicle emission scheme, i'm not sure what is to come for diesel cars. Their Ibiza is also nice, but got new model coming. And the Leon ST is coming in april so i'm just adopting a wait-and-see approach for now. If the Toledo comes in petrol version, I would have bought it immediately.

IMHO, forget diesels. You won't know what you don't know, going forward!

If you can buy immediately that means you are not stuck by your current car's low resale value lah

Their saturday advertisement shoe 10k above market value for taking in used car till 7th Feb only. Sounds like an overtrade.

I have seen about 3 Leon & 1 Alhambra till date. But to be fair, I travel alot, so changes of spotting a Seat is relatively higher.

Agreed that there are rooms for improvement for the sales team and strategies at Vertex Euro. The local car scene has always be very competitive and challenging, even for seasoned / old time AD.

With fellow bros reporting sighting of SEAT cars on the road, this thread sounds a lot more like national geographic excursion trip heading down to Amazon Forest looking for new animal species... haha  :XD:

Tried to post review on SGCarmart but keeps getting error, so here's my review on the Seat Leon Cupra 290.

I had the Seat Leon Cupra 290 Sunroof for close to a month now.

At first sight, the white and black contrast of the sunroof, together with the stock low ride height (2 fingers) and huge alloy wheels give the car a purposeful stance, neither shouty nor boring looking, as compared to its german brethren.

Going into the car, you quickly get accustomed to the rather bland, but otherwise ergonomically sound interior. The sport seats do a decent job of finding that elusive perfect driving position. Dials and buttons are right where they should be, either within finger reach or eye level height. Pity the cheap looking plastics everywhere.

This car doesn't have keyless, good and bad, cos you know the 'Key' will never bail on you, much to the chagrin of our VW partners ;) The car settles into a comfortable idling purr, never betraying its 290 horses lurking under the bonnet.

This car, is extremely well equipped for the price. I get DCC dampers as standard, an actual electronically controlled mechanical LSD (VAQ <-- read up about it, it is not VW's cheating XDS), slightly more power than the top of the range VW Golf R, despite using the same IHI IS38 turbo paired with the EA888.3 engine, DSG as standard, 19" lightweight alloys and many more.

The trick that makes this car so enjoyable to hoon around is the VAQ LSD. Take note, this is a PROPER mechanical unit with hydraulic clutch packs that vary torque distribution, and it shows when u chuck into a corner and simply floor the throttle. In a split second, the LSD meters just the right amount of power to find traction and apply all 350Nm torques to the front axle and off you go. Its that simple. Do not underestimate modern FWD hot hatches in corners.

The DCC allows 3 different preset modes (+1 individual setting), Comfort, Sport and Cupra. 90% of the time on Comfort, it simply excels in quelling down the rowdy car. Road bumps are soaked effortlessly, and trust me, it feels as comfortable as an Audi A4. Switch to Sport/Cupra mode, the fake engine sound comes in and the absorbers stiffen at varying levels of hardness, giving you complete confidence in high speed jaunts, no thanks to the excellent VAQ LSD.

And of course the EA888.3. 350Nm torques below 2000rpm means you glide effortlessly through the mess created by slow inconsiderate drivers on Lane 1. It really doesn't get easier and more fun than this!

What I Like about this car:

  • 290 hp - higher stock hp than Golf R

  • DCC adjustable dampers and Seat Cupra mode select

  • VAQ LSD as standard

  • Agile MQB chassis thanks to lightweight construction

  • Stock exhaust has exciting soundtrack which will backfire when revved, followed by the DSG braaaap!

  • More reliable 6DSG wet clutch

  • EA888 Gen 3 with MPI and DI, easy platform to tune for more tyre smoke

  • Good fuel consumption averaging 11km/l when I am not naughty.

  • Launch control program works seamlessly to restrict gear 1 full torque

  • SEAT Full Link - Android Auto and Apple Carplay inbuilt

  • Full 10 LEDs for headlights and even LEDs for high beam!

  • Sleeper looks

  • My Sunroof :)

What I Dislike about the car

  • Honestly, SEAT your interior is a shame compared to other brands. It looks worse than yesterday's Toyota. Wtf were you thinking of?

  • People either don't recognize the SEAT brand, or tend to confuse it with a new redesigned Suzuki, oh no....

  • White side trimmings in the sport seats? It gets dirty in 5 secs. Why White? Black would make perfect sense.

  • Fake Soundaktor that vibrates the windscreen to simulate engine noise. Similar to Fake news; its present, but its fake.

  • Not much choices to customize the car before purchase. Would have loved to get a chance to add better speakers and internal trimmings but oh well :)

  • SEAT Leon Cupra 300 is out :@ The estate version of the Cupra 300 even gets AWD!

But having said all the Cons of the SEAT Cupra ownership, this is still at its core, a very accomplished and capable machine, at a big price difference to the Golf GTI and much more equipment.

If you buy a car just for the brand, go sign on the dotted line for other brands. If you care about owning a proper 290hp driver's car, with the practicality of a 5 door hatch and sensibility of not blowing wide open your wallet, the Seat Leon Cupra 290 should be right at the front of your shortlist.

Now I shall go and drive my Suzuki Liana Cupra...

Supersonic

Great review, but so far still haven't seen a SEAT on the roads yet.
Rarer than a McLaren here.  [laugh]

I have seen 3 Toledos so far. I spoke to a SEAT SE 3 weeks ago. He said they have sold about 20.
