  1. Anyone keen in this Seat Ibiza 1.4 Cupra Bocanegra? Looks nice and fierce from the front. Really 1 and only one driving it here. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=11058
  2. Mitsubishi has said before that it is not intending on making another Lancer Evolution. But there are reports that a new one is in the works. According to Autocar's article, it claimed that Mitsubishi is planning to revive the Lancer Evolution and build an 11th-generation model, as it found out from unnamed “Japanese-based sources”. It explained that Mitsubishi wants to spice up its lineup and try to cater to the enthusiasts. Using the CMF-C/D F4 platform from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and parts that could be shared with the next-generation Megane R.S., the new Evo might sound like a possibility. While some reports cited that the car could be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder paired with the addition of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, others said that it could use the existing 1.8-litre turbocharged lump found in the current Megane R.S.
  3. Nokia 8 officially launches in Singapore at S$769 http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-nokia-8-officially-launches-singapore-s769 The Nokia 8 will officially begin retail in Singapore at S$769, starting on 14th October 2017. Color variants are Polished Blue, Tempered Blue, and Steel. Here’s HMD Global’s official stance on the Nokia 8’s competitive sticker price in Singapore: “We understand consumers enjoy the experience of a pure Android smartphone and with the Nokia 8 at under SGD 800, we are offering more consumers that experience and the full features and capabilities of our Nokia flagship smartphone.” – James Rutherfoord, VP at HMD Global, APAC. Here’s a quick recap on the phone. It comes with a flagship-tier processor – Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 – and the latest stock Android operating system, Android 8.0 OS (Oreo). HMD Global is partnering Zeiss optics for the dual-rear cameras on the Nokia 8; the lens-making firm provides consultation and quality testing. The primary rear camera shoots in regular RGB format, while its secondary rear shooter snaps in monochrome - similar to Huawei's flagship phones. Besides its unique “Bothfie” livestreaming feature where it simultaneously engages both front and rear cameras, the phone also packs Nokia’s 360-degree audio software, OZO Audio.
  4. Old-school mobiles make comeback with consumers paying top dollar for Nokia brick phones NETWORK WRITERS, WIRES AFP MAY 26, 2014 2:15PM SHARE 21 Nokia Lumia under hammer test1:47 Play video A Nokia Lumia 900 is put to the test of being hammered on with nails and more. AUTOPLAYON OFF Back in time ... handsets like the Nokia 3310 allow just basic text messaging and phone calls. Source: News Limited Nokia Lumia under hammer test Back in time ... handsets like the Nokia... THEY fit in a pocket, have batteries that last all week and are almost indestructible: old-school Nokias, Ericssons and Motorolas are making a comeback as consumers tire of fragile and overly-wired smartphones. LEAKED LETTER: Is this the end of Nokia? With no apps, video calls or smiley faces, handsets like the Nokia 3310 or the Motorola StarTec 130 allow just basic text messaging and phone calls. But demand for them is growing, according to reports out of Europe, where some of these second-hand models are fetching prices as high as 1000 euros ($1500) a piece. The Nokia brick ... tired of your smartphone’s low battery life? You can always go back to using a trusty Nokia 3310 - but it will cost you. Source: News Limited “Some people don’t blink at the prices, we have models at more than 1000 euros. The high prices are due to the difficulty in finding those models, which were limited editions in their time,” said Djassem Haddad, who started the site vintagemobile.fr in 2009. Haddad had been eyeing a niche market, but since last year, sales have taken off, he said. Over the past two to three years, he has sold some 10,000 handsets, “with a real acceleration from the beginning of 2013”. “The ageing population is looking for simpler phones, while other consumers want a second cheap phone,” he said. Niche market ... old-school Motorola phones are also proving popular. Source: News Corp Australia Among the top-sellers on the website is the Nokia 8210, with a tiny monochrome screen and plastic buttons, at $90. Ironically, the trend is just starting as the telecommunications industry consigns such handsets to the recycling bins, hailing smartphones as the way ahead. Finnish giant Nokia, which was undisputedly the biggest mobile phone company before the advent of Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy, offloaded its handset division to Microsoft this year after failing to catch the smartphone wave. But it was probably also the supposedly irreversible switch towards the smartphone that has given the old school phone an unexpected boost. And I found my old sckool toys. I find my 3310 in a bit...hahaha
  5. Mazda is known for its rotary-engined vehicles but after the company decided to end the production of the RX8, Mazda is left without a rotary model. Poor fuel efficiency is one of the major reasons why the rotary engine is given the chop. The company is determined that there is still a future for the rotary engine. Lately, Mazda is developing a new rotary engine which will act as a range extender for electric vehicles. While we wait for that piece of technology to complete, there is some good news for rotary fans out there as the RX7 is making a comeback. Nobuhiro Yamamoto, Mazda's program manager, has confirmed that a new Mazda RX7 is making a comeback and it will be launched some time in 2017. The RX7's comeback will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Mazda Cosmo Sport which is the first rotary-engined vehicle that Mazda has ever produced. The new RX7 will be more powerful, lighter and more fuel efficient than the previous one. Yamamoto worked on the previous RX7 model and he also designed the Mazda 787B Wankel engine. Yamamoto mentioned that the new car will use Mazda's new 16X rotary engine. In comparison with the RX8's 1.3 litre Renesis engine which made around 230bhp in natural aspirated form, the 1.6 litre naturally aspirated 16X engine will make around 300bhp. And the company is considering a turbo option as well. The 16X engine is based on the 13B's twin rotor design, the main difference is the increased displacement size. With Mazda's latest SkyActiv technology and the addition of special catalytic converters, the new engine will be more fuel efficient than previous rotary engines. Yamamoto also mentioned that the new RX7 will not be offered with hybrid technology because the company sees the car as a pure sports vehicle. Much aluminium will be used on the body shell in order to keep the vehicle weight at a minimum. Also, the car will use a stretched version of the MX5's platform. This is done to keep development costs low. The new RX7's overall weight is said to be less than 2800 lbs (1270 kg). As for the pricing, Yamamoto stated that the new RX7 will be priced between the Nissan 370Z and the GT-R. This means that if it reaches our shores, it will be rather expensive. 6. Gerhard Berger has backed Michael Schumacher amid a climate of continuing criticism of the seven time world champion's performance so far in 2010. Four races into 41-year-old Schumacher's F1 comeback at the wheel of a Mercedes, the critique of pundits has ranged from a verdict of disappointment to a harsh denigration of his skills after three years of retirement. "I find all the talk about Michael a bit tedious, because it is always with a negative slant," 10-time GP winner Berger, who raced in Schumacher's era until retiring in 1997, said on Austrian TV 'Sport und Talk aus dem Hangar 7'. "Michael has come back and is doing what he wants. I think you cannot change the status of someone who is a seven time world champion," added the 50-year-old former Ferrari and McLaren driver. Austrian Berger backs Schumacher to improve his pace in the forthcoming races. "We know his ambition. We know that if he does something, he does it right. I think we must take him seriously again in the future," he said. After the initial three races of 2010, Berger admits that Schumacher's performance in China was a setback. "It was weak, but that can happen," said the former teammate of the late F1 great Ayrton Senna. "I think he has done an excellent job so far -- except for the last race. In the first three grands prix he was in the top six of the championship. That is a great achievement," added Berger. Also defending Schumacher is his countryman and friend Sebastian Vettel, who until the great German's struggle in 2010 was nicknamed by the German press 'Baby-Schumi'. "He is yet to exhaust the potential of his car and will therefore get better from a driving point of view from race to race," the Red Bull driver told Switzerland's Motorsport Aktuell. "I wouldn't write him off for a long time," added 22-year-old Vettel. Force India's Adrian Sutil also sees nothing odd about Schumacher's comeback to date. "I had counted on it being difficult for him. Formula one has changed to the extremes in the past few years so that you can lose half a second and not know exactly why," he told spox.com. "Plus it would have been funny if Schumacher had beaten us all after three years of being retired -- then he really would have been the god of F1. "That doesn't mean he's doing badly; on the contrary, he's always in the top ten. He only needs time," added Sutil. Source: GMM
  7. Speculation about Michael Schumacher's mood continues to rise, but the seven time world champion insists he is "extremely motivated" ahead of the fifth race of his 2010 comeback. After three years of retirement, the 41-year-old German has been consistently outpaced by his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg so far in 2010, but will have a car with a longer wheelbase in Spain that should better suit his driving style. "When he has that (revised car) I think we will have to reassess the whole story," commented former triple world champion Sir Jackie Stewart. "If he then doesn't deliver, then I think he has a problem," added the Scot. 70-year-old Stewart thinks part of Schumacher's problem will be reassessing his desire to honour the full three years of his new contract. "You know, I don't think he should have retired when he did in 2006 because I don't think it was out of his system," he said. "This might take it out of his system." Schumacher's old title rival of the 90s, Damon Hill, is not ruling out that "the old Schumacher magic" could soon return. "Is it still there?" he told the Daily Mail, whose headline accuses Mercedes of "wasting money" on Schumacher. "I'm sure that's a question Michael will be asking himself -- and it's one that is starting to become valid after four races," added Hill. In an official Mercedes press release, Schumacher played down the likely effect of the car upgrades for Barcelona but sounded bullish about his own outlook. Team boss Ross Brawn also said the German is "determined to succeed" despite the setbacks so far. Added Schumacher: "Our step forward in Barcelona will be bigger than you can make at each race during the flyaways but it would not be realistic to expect us to suddenly be competing right at the front," he said. "However the good news is that after three years away, I am feeling extremely motivated. So I am clearly ready to take this challenge," added the record winner of 91 grands prix. Source: GMM
  8. Michael cancels F1-Comeback Consequences of bike-injuries make return impossible "Yesterday evening, I had to inform Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo and Team Principal Stefano Domenicali that unfortunately I'm not able to step in for Felipe. I really tried everything to make that temporary comeback possible, however, much to my regret it didn't work out. Unfortunately we did not manage to get a grip on the pain in the neck which occurred after the private F1-day in Mugello, even if medically or therapeutically we tried everything possible. The consequences of the injuries caused by the bike-accident in February, fractures in the area of head and neck, unfortunately have turned out to be still too severe. That is why my neck cannot stand the extreme stresses caused by Formula 1 yet. This are the clear results of the examinations we did on the course of the past two weeks and the final examination yesterday afternoon. As there were no improvements after the day in Mugello, I decided at short notice on Sunday to do that thorough examination already yesterday. I am disappointed to the core. I am awfully sorry for the guys of Ferrari and for all the fans which crossed fingers for me. I can only repeat that I tried everything that was within my power. All I can do now is to keep my fingers crossed for the whole team for the coming races." schumi out !
