  3. 3 killed, 2 injured in Penang expressway shooting: Datuk's bodyguard arrested Posted on 02 December 2016 | 5,144 views | 0 comments Three people, including a Datuk, Ong Teik Kwong, 32, were shot dead on Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway in Georgetown, Penang at 7.30pm on Thursday (Dec 1). According to The Star, the three people were in their cars when they were shot and there was four others injured in the shooting. George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed the shooting, adding that they were still investigating at the scene. A fourth victim, said to be a woman, was seriously injured after she was shot. She was then sent to Penang Hospital for treatment. RTM cameraman Muhamad Amirul Amin Amir was also hit by a stray bullet in the shoulder when he passed by the area in his motorcycle. He was said to be heading towards the Pesta Pulau Pinang with his friend Mohamad Iskandar Osman when the shooting happened. Traffic was almost at a standstill heading towards Penang Bridge. The suspect who fired the shots has been arrested. Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zainol Samah said the shooter was the personal bodyguard of the Datuk and was travelling with him in his car. He told a press conference on Thursday night, "Another passenger in the car tried to escape on foot, but the suspect continued firing shots at him." SAC Zainol said police are still investigating the motive for the shooting. GreatDaily Slain Datuk was EO detainee GEORGE TOWN: Businessman Datuk Ong Teik Kwong, who was shot dead by his bodyguard at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, was detained under the Emergency Ordinance (EO) before. Penang police chief Comm Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab said Ong was arrested several times by the police before and was one of the EO detainees in Simpang Renggam. GreatDaily 「Although he was detained by the police before, he was never charged with any crime. 「He was released after the EO was repealed in 2011,」 Comm Abdul Ghafar told a press conference after attending a Retired Senior Police Officers Association gathering at the Penang Officers Mess here. He said that those detained under the EO were usually connected with cases involving violence, but they were not charged in court as police did not have enough evidence. Ong, 32, and two other men were killed by Ong’s bodyguard, who is believed to be mentally unstable on Dec 1. Five other people were also injured in the incident, which took place at 7.30pm that day at the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway. Comm Abdul Ghafar said that the remand period of the bodyguard and another suspect, who was Ong’s business partner, will end tomorrow. He said police will be seeking an extension of the remand for both men for another week. He added the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. He added the gunman was the bodyguard to a 「Tan Sri」 in Kuala Lumpur before he started working with Ong. Comm Abdul Ghafar said the police have so far recovered 11 bullet shells at the scene, and they will return to the crime scene today to complete investigations. When asked if the police will carry out vetting on armed security guards and bodyguards, Comm Abdul Ghafar said the police would usually do a background check for any drug abuse or criminal activities, but not for their mental heatlh. 8. http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/...umours-20120922 By Rachel Chang In a bid to cut through the swirl of rumour and distortion online, the Government has quietly launched a few "myth busting" initiatives. The first is a new section on its www.gov.sg website called "Factually". Since May, it has collected a series of primers on hot topics like the national reserves, certificates of entitlement and procurement processes. They aim to give bite-sized answers to questions that have arisen over controversial decisions, such as the one in March to give $1.1 billion to bus operators to ramp up services. Taking things one step further, the Housing Board (HDB) two weeks ago started a new website known as HDB Speaks. A first for government agencies here, its sole purpose is to address topics of controversy, like the affordability of resale HDB flats. One was recently been sold for more than $1 million. Replete with bright graphics and written in a conversational style, it is a far cry from HDB's more sober main website, and aims to be a place where people can "get the facts on the myths about HDB" - its tagline. Both initiatives are works-in- progress, said the agencies in charge.

  10. Oh No. The Lotus group, makers of the Lotus Elise, Exige and Evora is rumoured to be in trouble. It seems that DRB-Hicom, the Malaysian conglomerate that owns Group Lotus' parent company, Proton may want to free itself from the wrangles of trying to turn around the sports car company. According to industry followers, notably F1 reporter Joe Saward, the management of DRB-Hicom somehow does not think that owning Lotus makes financial sense and may sell off its stake in Lotus to China Youngman, a company that already has ties with Proton. This news comes after the Lotus F1 team terminated a sponsorship agreement with Group Lotus but also stated that it had struck a five-year deal with Lotus

  14. Felipe Massa insists he is not being affected by the speculation predicting his Ferrari tenure will end this season. The Brazilian's contract runs out this year, and amid rumours that Robert Kubica could be set to replace him in 2011, 29-year-old Massa is currently struggling to match the pace of his new teammate Fernando Alonso. "For sure I am happy to stay (at Ferrari) if they want me, I trust Ferrari and in the end I have no interest in what people are saying. "What I care about is working hard and fixing things as quickly as possible," Italian reports quote him as saying. Corriere dello Sport suggested that Massa might be headed to Red Bull next year, to replace the possibly retiring Barcelona winner Mark Webber. "In this world you hear so many things every week and every month," said Massa, who became Michael Schumacher's last Ferrari teammate in 2006. The Massa/Red Bull rumour comes in the wake of Lewis Hamilton's assertion two months ago that 33-year-old Webber might retire at the end of 2010. It is further rumoured that while Kimi Raikkonen was earlier expected to return to F1 in Webber's place next year, the 2007 world champion might in fact be content to prolong his new world rallying foray. To Sydney's Sun-Herald newspaper, Australian Webber has once again played down the Hamilton comments. "They came about from when we were on a plane together back from the Japanese grand prix last year," he revealed. "We were talking about getting the timing right in terms of retirement, in sport in general. When I do call it a day - and I really don't think that it will be at the end of this year - I want to do so on a good note. "But I'm driving well enough and I believe I can still bring a lot to the plate in the next year or so -- meaning next year," Webber insisted. "I've got a few years in me yet." Source: GMM
  15. Speculation about Michael Schumacher's mood continues to rise, but the seven time world champion insists he is "extremely motivated" ahead of the fifth race of his 2010 comeback. After three years of retirement, the 41-year-old German has been consistently outpaced by his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg so far in 2010, but will have a car with a longer wheelbase in Spain that should better suit his driving style. "When he has that (revised car) I think we will have to reassess the whole story," commented former triple world champion Sir Jackie Stewart. "If he then doesn't deliver, then I think he has a problem," added the Scot. 70-year-old Stewart thinks part of Schumacher's problem will be reassessing his desire to honour the full three years of his new contract. "You know, I don't think he should have retired when he did in 2006 because I don't think it was out of his system," he said. "This might take it out of his system." Schumacher's old title rival of the 90s, Damon Hill, is not ruling out that "the old Schumacher magic" could soon return. "Is it still there?" he told the Daily Mail, whose headline accuses Mercedes of "wasting money" on Schumacher. "I'm sure that's a question Michael will be asking himself -- and it's one that is starting to become valid after four races," added Hill. In an official Mercedes press release, Schumacher played down the likely effect of the car upgrades for Barcelona but sounded bullish about his own outlook. Team boss Ross Brawn also said the German is "determined to succeed" despite the setbacks so far. Added Schumacher: "Our step forward in Barcelona will be bigger than you can make at each race during the flyaways but it would not be realistic to expect us to suddenly be competing right at the front," he said. "However the good news is that after three years away, I am feeling extremely motivated. So I am clearly ready to take this challenge," added the record winner of 91 grands prix. Source: GMM
  16. Hi, I found these comments on Toyota Club Singapore Website: "Toyota has ordered all export markets in SE Asia to obtain their stocks from Thailand. And they're not changing that anytime soon. The distribution network from Thailand is already in place. Toyota has said that Toyota JDM will NOT officially export any cars from their home base in the near future. The G10 will surely come from Thailand whether we like it or not. And I have news that the G10 will NOT be available with a underpowered 1.6L anymore. The base engine will be a brand new 1.8L with dual VVTi (as seen in the Crown and new GS300). The top of the line model will be a upgraded Camry 2.4L (also with dual VVTi) producing around 170hp. It'll be hooked up to a 5 speed manumatic. The G10 will be even bigger than the Altis both inside and out. "
