New_Atlantis 3rd Gear March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 Since we are in the topic of eye sight related issue be it long/short sighted, glass prescription etc, I would like to check with you all have anyone heard of an old uncle in Malacca town whom can help with your long/short sighted by using a very fine needle to prick a some vein behind our ear and immediately our vision becomes very clear after that. Me, my relative and friend have personally tried this before and it was only RM10 each time and the result was good. Anyone tried before my last visit was in 2013 don't know if the shop still around? Wah! this uncle got kungfu! He should have gone international. and charge US$100 a prick. ↡ Advertisement

Vratenza Supersonic March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 Another explanation is early onset dementia... Just joking! Although I can't get rid of glasses, somehow I do feel that we are too reliant on them. For quite a few occasions, I managed to walk out from my house for a distance without my spectacle on. Only when I realised it, my vision suddenly becomes very blur. So how do I managed to walk about for a distance without it? My myopia is not slight, both eyes 500 each, technically considered blind already.

Having not tried it, I cannot say if it really works. All I can say is that something like that would definitely be worth more than 10RM.
Vratenza Supersonic March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 Might have some medical explanation such as the acupuncture temporarily paralyse the nerve that functions to give tone to the muscles that alter the lense curvature responsible for focusing. Even if that is true, that will be temporary and not without side effects however minor. Eg. You gain on far vision corrections but you might lose your reading distance acuity. Vratenza Supersonic March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 I tried them once 2 years ago. Not bad an experience. Just that i hate the Bras Basah area traffic and the oh so horrible carpark. Got to queue to just enter the carpark. Their shop perpetually full and needa to wait for a bit to be served. End up by end of the session, I requested for collection at their ghim moh branch just to avoid going to that area. Their ghim moh branch selection much smaller... So... Still deciding... I go Kwang Shing at Bras Basah Complex. Ladies there will take care of you. Or can look for Adeline.

Yes, the Bras Basah Complex car park is a pain, and the lots are just-nice type. Better to car lite there, can walk from City Hall or Bugis MRT stations. They have quite a lot of repeat customers so its kinda hectic. Best is to go before lunch time.

Now just need to take out specs or adjust the reading distance. Been wearing glasses since ns cause cant see the bull's-eye during zeroing of M16 at 25m range.

Is it similar to the eye massage I was forced to do during assembly in Pri school? Massage nose bridge, cheek bone and above the eyes. Eye sight does get slightly clearer after that for a short period of time.

Angcheek Hypersonic March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 I don't have a fixed optical shop to go until recently since I have been traveling around I have sensitive eyes and I am very particular about a good pair of glasses I won't leave the optical shop if I have headaches or feel giddy or unclear vision, I used to be convinced that my eyes needs time to adjust and that feeling giddy is fine, this does not work for me, if I wear and cannot means no matter how many days also cannot The specs must be clear and sharp for me, I can't take anything less perfect can post a pic of your glasses ?

Adrianli Hypersonic March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 Reading this thread reminded me that I need to get my vision rechecked and get myself a new pair of specs. Anyone have a reliable shop to recommend? Reliable in terms of honest pricing (not any how chop) and professional fitting service. This is the shop that I visit for my glasses. I only wear glasses in front of PC/TV and driving at night cos of high astig. Otherwise, I dont wear any glasses. http://search.insing.com/business/optique-trend-optical-centre/ang-mo-kio/id-fa6c0000

ins1dious Turbocharged March 24, 2017 Share March 24, 2017 (edited) bro...i saw the website pricelist....does the price includes the glass as well? I clicked on the Glasses segment and the price shown is quite competitive. My neighbourhood shop cost an arm and a leg for frames and glasses. Singapore shops are often accredited by the optometry association. We even have fulltime Optometry Diploma courses in Ngee Ann Poly. MY wan i am not sure of their qualifications........ Long story... grab a coffee and put your feet up Edited March 24, 2017 by ins1dious

Last time i changed glasses, i went to a shop in people's park center. They've been around a long long time. http://pearlsoptical.com.sg/ Parking's a bitch though. If i recall correctly, the boss son is also an ophthalmologist hahaha Edited March 24, 2017 by Lala81 ↡ Advertisement
