I agree.

I also understand that it dun cover pre and post bills.  Private insurers do cover pre and post bills for a specific number of days.

BTW, if your company got buy hospitalisation insurance for you, claim your company first, dun touch your private insurance.

actually i do it the opposite way

claim private shield plan first then ask the insurance company to recover whatever is covered under my company insurance plan

I did that too but my private insurer didn't manage to recover from my company insurer.  So I have learnt my lesson.

Now they  have a practise right?  Receive shopping voucher if the private insurer managed to recover from the company insurer.

I've done health screening at NUH twice. The last time the cost was almost 1k. including cancer markers. Was cheaper the first time. Only good thing is no waiting and all tests and consultation all done same day.

Pte hospital full package:

Mt.A ard $600

Raffles ard $800-$1000

Mt.E min $1k n above

Tried both except Mt.E

Also never tried Mt E.

Mt A better

I never like the Dr review at RH. Went 3 consecutive years.

Each time like going through motion, like very busy, rushing for time.

Felt Mt A more professional and personal. Never went back RH

According to the doctor that saw my mum, its BS. He said no way to detect tumor until they are large enough. By then, need surgery to remove or histology test.

Maybe really busy time, because some GLC send staff for annual health checks there.

I think at least it trigger one to go for a thorough check. So whether it the end it's a false or true trigger it is still useful. Peace of mind, if turn out false. Or if it is true trigger, hopefully early detection means can begin early treatment.

The usage of it is controversial. Most cancer markers are neither very specific nor sensitive.

As it can sometimes give false positives. So some extra investigations maybe done which weren't necessary.

Negative also doesn't mean have no cancer.

On the other hand, I've seen maybe one case that did help diagnose colon cancer.

Say like dun say liddat haaaaaaaaaaaaaa

that is why, when there is a suspicion, they start the rigor of checking further to rule out or confirm further.  Colon cancer, they use the CEA marker, Prostate is the PSA.

However, when you kanna slightest hint of positive in the marker test, hope that one does not die of heart attack from worrying hahahahha

So that means if the markers turn out ok then no need to bother with further tests right?
