I was so disappointed after test driving the car over the weekend. Was so looking forward to have something to change to when present car reaches 10.

My views:

Likes

=====

- The overall look

- The interior trims (at least its better than what I presently have)

- The sun roof thinggy

- Good sound insulation (till pedal was floored)

- The auto retract of steering for easier exit/entry into car

- Suspension damping

It all but ends there.....

Dislikes

=======

- Poor fit of the seat. Not comfortably for me. Too squeezy.

- Space is smaller than expected. Both front passenger and rear.

- Driving view seems to be not that wide. Was expecting better given the higher ride height. Rear view also seems small.

- For a turbo 227 bhp car, it certainly doesn't drive like it. Even when on sports mode. Engine seemed to be struggling when floored (from stationary or moving)

- Steering was too light.

- Ride wasn't engaging at all.

- Noticed no dip stick and refill openings for ATF and differential. At least I couldn't find it..... (I also didn't seem to see any intercooler)

- ECU sticking up in the engine bay (may not mean it's no good.... but I don't like it there to collect dirt and be subjected to high heat from turbo.... engine bay wash also more troublesome)

Guess I'll go do the necessary repairs and replacement of wear & tear items in preparation for another decade of use for present ride.

No modern car since 2000s has dipstick for transmisson and no car (my army days M113 had) has had dipstick for differential LOL.

BTW for fwd based car, front differential shares transmission fluid with gearbox, no separate reservoir. Harrier in SG does not have 4wd, so no rear differential.

If you open up BMW, you don't even get dipstick for engine oil.

He already said HT no power liao.

RAV4 is worse. No turbo.

Hi Fcw,

Think HT is fine ... PI non turbo harrier a lot worse in all aspects including sloppy warranty even by vincar, japanese GUI, floating ride, lack of power etc.

However, I had "unfortunately" test drove the forester xt wirh same 350Nm torque and slightly higher 240hp after booking the HT while waiting for test drive car 3 weeks later and yes, it is somewhat tuned differently in comparison.

Test drove the HT thrice with the 3rd time driving the my buddy's forester xt whole of friday and driving it to showroom on Sat ... took back deposit and bought the forester xt instead.

Difference of 35k just nice to mod the forester xt especially on aesthetic aspects as it was far from my fav

Tried also kaki's glc250 at also 350nm but non cvt gb really make a difference compared to forester xt but not going to spend another 300k+ for 10 yrs car ownership.

Rav4 is a joke by BM with HT available at about same $.

Cheers.

Richard

Hi Thai,

Guess subjective ... I prefer the sleek headlights of HT and not sure what look nicer in PI harrier.

As also edited, sloppy warranty, jap gui, floaty ride etc. aside to power make HT a non brainer even more ex and higher fc but ymmv cos forester xt with boxer and 4wd worse fc than HT .. aaah.

Power is not only safety but also driveability as well as quiet ride since engine is not stressed ..fc for 2.0 cannot save too much also and smaller consideration for this car category else like for my wife's fl 2018 mazda 6 2.0 of 13km/l or cx5 with same engine would be an alternative choice but not for me cos missed driveability.

Cheers.

Richard

(edited)

Fellow Harrier drivers, any recommendation brand and series lineup for new set of tyres since the stock size is 235 55/R18 ? I would like to remain the same size, current stock tyres are from bridgestone.

I use Alenza, also from Bridgestone. Stock size available.

Hi,

Amyone experience side mirror not folding after locking the door for HT? Side mirror switch is at auto (neutral) position.

If I manually fold the side mirrors before locking doors, they do unfold after unlocking doors.

If manually fold mirror before engine off, it will remain same position after unlocking.

Side mirror not folding during locking, check manual if there's a preset that requires ignition on to do that settings.

I can't find in the manual.

Pg 404 Outside rear view mirrors - default setting is linked to doors, urs likely disabled.

Pg 88 settings. U may wana drive down to Toyota service consultants to set it for u, less than 3 mins.

Hope it helps.

Hi Bros, not sure if this has been discussed, can HT fit the old GS300 BBK? I had used the GS300 BBK before on my previous Mark X and found it to be effective. Hoping can recycle the BBK.

Thanks and is there a whatsapp group to join for HT?

Not driving one, but if you check the original first few hundred posts in this thread when only PI Harrier was available - people were quoting 10-12km/l

Thanks.

70% city, can expect fuel consumption to be below 10 km/l.

When I was doing 70% expressway, I was averaging 14 km/l.

Now, I am doing about 80% expressway, with about a third of the journey on the KPE (the rest of the xpressway, I travel on the CTE and AYE), I get about 16 km/l. Note : KPE drivers mostly travel at a constant speed of 80 km/h. When on the KPE, I lock in my cruise control at 80 km/h.
