My 2019 530e high voltage battery health has dropped to 57%. The range I’m getting now is 16km. Used to get up to 36km when I first picked up the car. My car is still within the 6 year battery warranty. Performance motors refused to do anything about it during my regular servicing with them. Eurokars took my car in 7 weeks ago and said they replaced 1 of the 6 modules. They told me my battery health is now 67% and can get 28km range. When I picked up my car yesterday, it showed 20km. They’re not going to do anything further to rectify this issue. Does anyone know how I can escalate this issue? I still have 1 year of battery warranty left.

This show Plug In Hybrid cannot lasts.

Or it is BMW problem.

There are substantially more PHEV in Malaysia.

I wonder anyone check whether these owners have the same problem.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely write to BMW Asia and post on my social media.

If BMW Asia don’t even want to honor the battery warranty for my small plug in hybrid battery, then those i4 and i5 bigger batteries how? My range drop by 50% after 70,000km mileage in 5 years only. Those batteries are much bigger and more expensive to replace. I have no faith that BMW Asia will cover that warranty claim.

We bought the plug in hybrid as a transition into full electric. Didn’t expect the battery capacity to drop by so much so quickly. On top of that, BMW still don’t want to honor their factory warranty. We sure won’t buy any of their electric cars in the future.

They aren't worried you not buying in the future. There are plenty of suckers enthusiasts willing to support them.  Good to hear your bad experiences - I am actually interested in BMW PHEV but will think 3 times now!  The savings in petrol is probably not enough to cover just 1 time battery replacement.

If the battery weak and doesn’t cause more problems then fine.
I still remember the trouble with the Mercedes NGT with the gas cylinders failing and had to spend money to fix in order to pass inspection  to continue driving.
thus my take with cars is to keep it simple.

@ER-3682 i know of many honda insight or civic hybrid with the 1.3engine that had very much reduced power when the hybrid battery deteriorated. almost undrivable. i think so far only toyota has done it well. everyone else F up big time.

Plug In Hybrid,if don't charge by a Wall Socket,it still can charge by the Car Engine.?

2 benefit of PHEV:

1. Bigger battery;

2. Charge from wall socket.  It is either 220v or EV charging station.  Need to do the setting in idrive.
