Turbocharged

Is there a shelve life for shoes?

Someone once told me running shoes must change after 3 years.

I was wondering like , But why, its not tires we talking about.

There is cause the foam will do integrate over the years. I have shoes bought years ago and still not worn. Kept in the store room but I occasionally change the silica gel.

This days the shoes (sports) type all have many different layers of  "dont know what hi tech" glued together and with different characteristics TCSS will say comfort, pronation, air, bounce, gel, silicon , NASA dont know what else crap  ........ macham macham Stylo Milo things and different composite materials and all that

Most brands if you look carefully at the tongue of the shoe (the part under your laces with the size  )  will have a month/year printed; try to get one which is not too far off as the adhesives work in different ways in different weather condition and time conditions........ have seen during runs some left over small rubber or shoe soles parts of some runners;  Usually special offer shoes (heavily marked down) are like over 2-3 years old already

My regular running shoes last me around 3 years (maybe mileage about 500-1,000 km) and after that I just down grade to them as usual work shoes or when I'm travelling and they last me another 2-3 years and until I get fed up and throw them away and still not "botak" at the heel part ; but I had to use super glue on a few occassions to glue some of the exposed layers as different materails used

Because the glue that sticks the shoe together might dry up and hence all the parts will begin to drop off.

Hear say one.
