leehock13828 2nd Gear March 22, 2017 Share March 22, 2017 Hey guys. I am not saying it is gospel truth, just sharing among fellow car owners what i am told by a steady fren of 27 yrs. Like i say, he hinted. How much credibility? I ever said i work in a bank in one of my prev posts. He asked me to secure car loan at preferential rate (fren fren rate) for him. That is how the conversation starts over a meal. As i have mentoned, its just a conversation between both of you. Nothing concrete unless you have an agenda against diesel cars
therock Supersonic March 22, 2017 Share March 22, 2017 Let the clearance sales begin.. My buddy just bought a Volvo V40 on sale.. $125k... How's that?
Aukang 6th Gear March 22, 2017 Share March 22, 2017 If this new scheme is to be maintained for about 10 years to prepare for future EURO 7 or 8 standards, probably it may make some sense. It's hard to see what's going to happen next year, since the importers have about 9 months to bring in more fuel efficient and cleaner models. And nowadays new models have to be built to comply EURO 6 standards and above. Let's wait and see. Would be great if an mcfer bro who is a car techie is able to draw up a similar table of comparison for other cars such as SUVs and other hybrids... Benarsenal Turbocharged March 22, 2017 Share March 22, 2017 I mentioned before, all the major ADs already know what's been coming and already have plans to adapt their model line-up. Maybe only the smaller ones with no foresight (like SEAT) might suffer, but for the bigger established brands they already putting in place their next step for 2018, ready to roll out once the dust has settled. After doing business in Singapore for so long they already know our Govt 'kuan' and how they function, so they will know how to take the necessary steps and precautions.

I think it's terrible that one does all this analysis and research on a new car, spend tens of thousands on it and then govt policy changes overnight and you're screwed! Insaneguy 1st Gear March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 T2 I think... But loan is pretty bad: 7 years at 2.8%... I think that's a 16k outlay.. For Merc the smallest loan I could get was 60% of car price for 6 years at 2.68%.. any lower all the freebies and service credits will be removed was feeling abit bad but now at least I know its not as bad as other AD lol... Pirus attracts neutral, lowest tier is neutral? is there any car that have -ve or rebate under VES?

therock Supersonic March 23, 2017 Share March 23, 2017 You probably got a very aggressive price for your car.. when margins are thin, they will try to make some money back from the loan / 'freebies'..
