RogerNg_185295 6th Gear July 18, 2018 Share July 18, 2018 LTA can say, but they may not enforce. Thats where the risk is. i was surprise he say yes to u. i thought LTA law say now AD must honour the warrently even if service outside?? anw just to highlight a case, my neighbour commerical nissan van had some major repair @20k under warrently. after that he went servicing outside all the way @around 60k, breakdown again, he went back nissan got foc repair/replacement. ↡ Advertisement
Victor68 Turbocharged July 18, 2018 Share July 18, 2018 AD and PI can say what they want, it the still subject to how the law interpret it. of course most of us won't spend money to fight such case because the lawyer fee will cost more than your repair. However, if they find someone just to prove a point, i am sure they will do private settlement. so, buy one with less such issue and if you still must stick to a problematic one, just pay lah. I wanted to quote the law when he said yes but don't feel like wasting his and my time since i'm not a real buyer. He probably sensed that too thus just want to brush me aside...
RogerNg_185295 6th Gear July 18, 2018 Share July 18, 2018 IMO, if you are within the warranty period and are worried, stick with the AD..But people want to save money. They want the warranty but find agent servicing too expensive. They want to have the cake and eat it
Inlinefour Twincharged July 18, 2018 Share July 18, 2018 According to the Service Advisor...He said 100% can service at other workshop for AD warranty car But the thing is...WS must use only AD approved oil and parts for servicing And in the event when wanna claimed warranty AD will assess the damage whether is caused by other WS or Manufacturer Fault Nowadays even DashCam, Coding or even retrofitting original equipment also warranty gone Then he said...play safe warranty period bear with AD better No point taking risk right

Watwheels Supersonic October 26, 2018 Share October 26, 2018 Can anyone tell me by changing the original CD player into a DVD player when warranty void?? Warranty void to other parts of area.... TIA Do you have a service booklet? Usually you will be able to find what is covered. eg: engine/gearbox warranty XX years, Headunit/ entertainment system XX year. Usually the entertainment system has warranty for around 1 year. Just call and ask. Scared?
Vinceng Turbocharged October 26, 2018 Share October 26, 2018 (edited) Was at KIA showroom over the weekend looking at Stinger. During my conversation with the SA, he highlighted the warranties for the car which i asked "if i service outside, all warranties are void ?". He replied "yes". As i was just window-shopping, i moved on without probing much. End of day, i'm skeptical of ADs honoring warranty when servicing not done with them. Will be great if they does but not surprise if warranty will still be void. Never believe what a salesman tells you - do your own research. https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/weve-been-bullied-independent-car-workshops-welcome-fairer-warranty-terms The nine major dealers here for marques like Chevrolet, Toyota, Mazda, Kia and Hyundai have agreed to remove the restrictive warranty terms by Dec 31. Never believe what is reported in newspaper. Warranty terms has to be updated. Otherwise, useless. Has CCS follow up with respective dealers to ensure compliance? Shekinah76 1st Gear December 29, 2018 Share December 29, 2018 My AD car is registered in 14 June 2012. With extended warranty for hybrids batteries up to 10 years. Now Borneo motor denied warranty and claim that servicing has to be done by them to honor the battery warranty when other workshop did not touch the hybrid battery. What’s should I do? Vratenza Supersonic December 29, 2018 Share December 29, 2018 This just highlights what almost every MCFers here warn about those "attractive" fancy 10 yrs warranty by ADs..... usually it means you are subjected to terms and conditions to tie you down to the AD's workshop to "enjoy" the marked up servicing costs which they use to cover any potential warranty claim. My advice is to look at your purchase documents fine prints....but highly likely you got to suck it up.
