Lapis Lazuli Daydate and Green Malachite daydates will cost easily $60k upwards today.

Biggest issue i had owning stone dials is that they are quite prone to cracking.  and even servicing at RSC does not guarantee anything.

This is the key reason why Rolex choose to discontinue many stone dials since the late 80s.

Woods dials are really amazing as they are unique and they dont crack.

That's a fair point, might impact my decision. Because I always knock my watches against car doors and metal door handles...🙄

Do these lapis lazuli/malachite green dials come as "factory original"? I do not want the dial to be "aftermarket".

To put it this way, I want the original 16 17 inch rims - I do not want any upgraded Enkei or Vossen...it must be original.

I guess the original invoice must state the dial description too, if they come with box and papers.

yup, there are tons of custom stone dials out there.

I think my estimation of USD50-60k may be an underestimation today

This price, might as well get the latest modern Day date 40mm.

60-80k (if diamond baton markers)

Yes, Factory Originals as already mentioned and highlighted, Daydates did use various stone dials including Lapis Lazuli and malachite and tiger eye, and onyx, and ferrite etc etc,  but as the stones need to be shaved thinly to be used as dials, they often crack over time.  Rolex discontinued the use of most stone dials in the late 80s.

most stone dials were used in Daydate between 1979 to 1990 on ref 18038.  The last batch of stone and wood dials were used on ref 18238 probably from 1989-1991

To find a perfect one with box and papers, be ready to pay $80k up as these will be true collector pieces

Classic Rolex ah pek watch

Datejust 16013 with the unique linen dial. Circa 80s

Easily had as the demand for two tone datejusts has always been lower than others

i just sold a full stainless steel version of this in fullset for only $6500.  Super bargain for the new owner

Matches the gold

Yup correct

nobody cares for half gold or two tone datejust.

same for two tone sports models

they dont hold their prices well except for the melt value which is higher today due to Gold Prices

so if you like it, then you are in for a treat.  There are tons available and many cheaper than all steel

Choose wisely and carefully dont be tricked.  Two tone got poor resale so never buy high.

Just to clarify, $5k is talking about Watch only.  Not fullset
