The curse of Divork Origi.

What happens to teams after Origi scores against them.

If Barcelona and Spurs thought his goals were a big blow at the time then what they didn't realise is the lasting effect the goals would have on them.

The six teams he scored against last season have all had bad starts to the season whilst five teams he scored against in previous seasons have suffered relegations.

Since conceding against Origi, Barcelona have lost the Copa del Rey final and started La Liga with just three wins from their opening six games, already sitting four points behind leaders Real Madrid.

Spurs' recent troubles have been put down to Mauricio Pochettino and Christian Eriksen but it seems it was Origi's goal in the Champions League final that's led to them only winning twice this season, drawing with Olympiakos and losing to League Two Colchester United on penalties in the Carabao Cup.

Wolves have gone from top six contenders to being 19th in the Premier League and without a win all season, with only Watford below them, who Origi also scored against last season.

If you thought that Newcastle United's troubles came from moving from Rafa Benitez to Steve Bruce then you'd be wrong, Origi's 86th minute winner against the Magpies last season is why they're one point clear of the relegation zone currently.

Marco Silva is currently bookies favourite to be next Premier League manager to leave his club and that's down into the former Lille striker's injury time winner in the Merseyside derby.

In the 2016/17 season Origi's goals led to relegations for both Sunderland and Middlesbrough, with the Black Cats falling two divisions below in order to avoid more punishment by the 24-year-old.

And in 2015/16 all three relegated sides, West Brom, Stoke and Aston Villa, conceded against the Reds' striker.

😀

Spurs 2 Bayern Munich 7

It's the Origi effect.

If he scores that team is finished .

Didn't want to open a new European club competition thread since most of us are EPL followers so periodically will post happenings of the 2 UEFA club competitions when match day happens, hope this is fine with u guys and do let me know if u feel it's better to separate it.

Spurs got hammered on Tues 2-7 by Bayern to suffer the worst defeat at home by an English team in UEFA club competition history. Last night Pool and Chelsea won to salvage some pride together with City as Matchday 1 saw only City winning amongst EPL teams.

A lot of rumours of unrest at Spurs and it's a real pity as they seem to be progressing under Poch last season which climaxed with their UCL Final appearance. Real also not playing well and I'm surprised Hazard is taking a long time to settle in at the Barnebeu. Barca beat Inter 2-1 after coming from behind.

Think he is not fit both physically as well as match wise. He will need to step up quickly else he will be turned on by the Real faithful as he is a Galactico after all. Can't believe he has fallen behind so early in his Real career and the saying the grass is not always greener on the other side is apt. Unfortunate from his point of view.

To almost any footballer, playing for the big 2 of Real or Barca is the pinnacle so can't blame Hazard for trying his luck there. In fact, I salute him for coming out of his comfort zone and challenging himself to prove that he can make it there. Same goes for CR7 who is a legend at Man United n esp Real so no need to go to old lady Juve and start all over again but he did so and would go down to be one of the greatest players in history if he can pull off another UCL win with a 3rd team[thumbsup]

Not knocking Messi but inversely he refuses to move and prove himself in another team/league. Someone here once chided me that I don't know Messi's situation and perhaps he owes it to them to continue etc as Barca picked him out from poverty but I don't quite agree as he has more than paid back whatever he owes Barca so that shld not be a reason. All the top players bar Pele played for several clubs and even different leagues to prove their greatness. Pele didn't cos during his era, it was almost unheard of a South American to ply his trade in Europe so I can excuse him abit. Just my 2 cents.......

messi case and cr7 very different, cr7 start off at a small club, then move to man u then to real, his root is not as deep.

its easy for him to make the move to juv.

messi is a barc youth product, when he become a regular he is already at 1 of the top 2 club in the world, no where else for him to move to.

and he start wining title the moment he join barc. cutting off any chance of him moving. when he reach close to 30 with all the award he won,

he got nothing to prove already,  and now even if he go epl, he cannot prove any thing, he is pass his peak, at the most like another Zlatan.

anw in the pass its normal for great footballer to stick to 1 club

Sorry don't quite agree on this. A great sportsman always challenges himself to reach new heights. That's the only way to push yourself and remain at the top of the tree. Even us mortals need to challenge ourselves in our jobs and other pursuits else we will remain stagnant and even complacent without even knowing it ie u are in your comfort zone.

I do understand Messi's loyalty to Barca as he grew up from there but it reached a stage where he has won everything with the club and needed a new challenge to push himself to greater heights and perhaps become the GOAT(Greatest of all time) but unfortunately in my books, he missed this chance by staying put n so I don't rate him as GOAT but one of the greats. Messi is a natural talented player unlike CR7 who worked his way up thru hard work, diet and even lifestyle change in his pursuit of excellence. CR7 is not GOAT but his sheer determination to be the best and his desire to challenge himself is [thumbsup]Just my opinion only.

For the record, I'm not a CR7 fan n in fact I don't quite like his cockiness but I hugely respect him for his dedication in his pursuit to be the best and I would put him as a role model for aspiring young players!

Spurs appeared super fatigued...aging defense line, keeper included.

Pumped and pumped to only lose possession.

not going to even mention that 11...
