Between the liftback and combi, I will take the latter anytime. The whole car feel just so different with more light into the cabin and not to mention the boot space, which is even larger than my previous 2nd gen Superb!

no sunroof for the liftback octavias? actually i like it without sunroof. i think the space is just 60L more with all the seats up. 600L vs 660L. so i think it just boils down to the shape.

The center hump for the rear passenger end is quite big and high.

I have always like the Octavia combi. But I dont like dual clutch gb. Dealer should bring in the auto option as well.

Skoda always make very nice looking wagons. In fact, overseas, Skoda sells more wagons than liftback style.

Actually many makes look good in wagon style, Corolla is one of them but it's not selling here.

Octavia wagon just look more balance in design than the liftback version. But sadly the COE pricing at this period really screwed.

I think Superb Combi is still nicer. So maybe now there's chance it will be brought in for next gen Superb.

CoE seems to be a vicious cycle. My 2009 Octy COE was 17k, 2018 change car at 32k. My friend's 2012 Superb at 84k, now 60k.

BUY! time for accord to go....

This is already a high coe car. Not the smartest idea to continue the cycle to get another high coe car... Got 2 vehicles now, need to think with head more compared to last time haha.

I wouldn't want to predict how the next Superb will look like judging from the current trend design of newer Skodas, which doesn't really look that "clean" to me compare to current Superb.

I like current Superb for its clean design inside out (without those unnecessary lines, curves and angles), especially its handsome nose job with the sharp looking headlights. I can't put it in words exactly but it just looks very pleasant to my eyes. Hahaha. And yah, the Superb combi too. Handsome wagon style but not here. Even if it's here now, the high COE really doesn't make any sense at all because people, like me will not get over the fact that the earlier Superb with higher bhp can be had at around $125k or so?

Love it or hate it, DSG is the best part of VAG cars

Here's the answer, by the friendly number man from MCF. Just don't ask me how I get the OMV of Octavia... :D

As you can see, the VES rebate play a big part in the pricing of the new Octavia. Regardless of the price difference, Octavia is a better choice in almost every aspect. Go figure. [:)]

Oh... the Combi.. saliva dripping for me...

Thanks @berry64694 for pointing out the error with Scala & Kamiq. For costing, I did not add that SCS also get commission from car loan, insurance premium taken up by the buyer, which is another couple of thousands, and not to mention the high markup for servicing charge during the entire warranty period. Warranty wise, as far as I know, the cost for the first 2 - 3 years is fully covered by Skoda factory (hence $0 cost on SCS), and as what @Mkl22 has pointed out, 4 & 5th years is leverage on insurance scheme at minimal cost.

Of course there are other fixed cost such building & rental, utility & maintenance, overhead, corporate tax, etc. but I will leave that for another discussion, since the cost per car are subjected to many variable.

I have updated the cost breakdown to include the Octavia Ambition (with an estimated OMV of $22K) as well as another VFM model for comparison. I was told the promotional price for Superb when I was at the showroom this morning. At $138K (annual depreciation of $12K+), Octavia simply no fight. @Lala81 based on what you have shared, I think Superb Ambition ticked most of the boxes.

But is the suberb L&K a VC??

I find the gear stick outdated too. The "DSG" wording on it is not exactly helping the cause.

Superb was launched back in 2015 after all, hence basic trim still have analog instrument cluster. I'm sure The next generation model will feature new cabin theme like the Octavia 😁

PS: VC retrofit is available at elebest for keen owners.

It's been 6 months since I owned the Superb... So far still not sick of the look though.😁 Interior wise is still pretty functional and I also prefer the physical buttons inside as well, rather than adjusting the settings solely by tapping on a tablet. Have checked with Elebest regarding the retrofit. Not cheap and also comes with voiding of warranty.
