boonhat_91 6th Gear June 26, 2025 Share June 26, 2025 Ignorance was bliss.. but today backside itchy went to take a look at my tyre.. saw a screw embedded horizontally and it has been worn down a bit too. I monitor and pump my tyres on the verge of OCD so I know it is not leaking air. Question - can this be patched?? If I ignore it, will the surrounding rubber eventually wear down until the screw itself drops out leaving a gaping hole?

The screw is embedded in the thickest part of the tyre. Just pull it out. If starts to leak air, let us know! 1

If no bubbles mean u are safe. Contuine to pull the whole screw out. If u see small bubble. Even if a very small bubbles keep coming out. Stop at once. Push the screw back and go to tyre shop to patch AT ONCE. Edited June 26, 2025 by Beregond

Good advice...but I'll add...do that near a tyre shop of choice...just in case cannot push back...at least not so siong to limp or push car...😅 1

I encountered this dilemma before you got to make a choice I left it alone, it dropped out after tyre thread worn down as it just embedded in the thread without puncturing but... even it doesn't puncture the tyre now as the thread worn down, if the screw and stars aligned it may get push in further to give you a puncture dilemma, dilemma, dilemma... 😁 1

Actually the best action is if the tyre is still inflated. Drive straight to a tyre shop ask them pull out the nail for u. But alot of time. And alot of our drivers dun know what to look out for. Even its not leaking. Some black sheep tyre shops will use the scare tactics to pressure driver to change 2 pcs. ( which is why having a fix regular tyre shop is very important) 2

Beregond Supersonic June 26, 2025 Share June 26, 2025 Actually if u visit your tyre shop. Sometime u ask them . Boss my tyres ok or not. Need to change? Or boss can patch or not. If every time u get the answer is botah already need to replace. Damage beyond repair. Change 2 pcs. Then u know u need to look for another shop liao. Most puncture can be repair ( it's they want or not only). Most of the honest 1 will patch for u. If really cannot they will show u. Its still leaking etc etc. Those type that dun even try and tell u cannot patch.... U can only go to them if they sell u the cheapest tyre. If driver look at thing another way. It depend on how driver see tyre shop. Is it a service centre? Or is it just another merchandise shop? Where price is the only thing that matter. If they sell u the cheapest tyre around. Then dun expect good after sales and honest after sales service. My tyres shop tyre is 1 of the more expensive around. But I stick with them cos I find them honest. No pressure. Alway show me the problem. Even go out to help me save my tyres. Advice like going to change car. Why waste money on new tyres bababa. 1 man's meat is another poison. 1 shop u like and recommended. Other may complain knife very sharp. ↡ Advertisement
