Meanmachine Supercharged April 17, 2020 Share April 17, 2020 IMHO, i have made my decision of NOT having GE this year 2020, not cancel but rather postponed to a much later date end2020 or early 2021 perhaps, one of the reasons are citizens are now confused, not convinced or rather shall i say, stressed on recent happening to another big-ticket event, a major exercise within short space of time may be overwhelming, I have to admit. Singaporean may be well travelled and affluent to society changing landscapes and skyline however some like to doing things OTOT ( Own Time Own Target ) their own way. During the past weeks, we have witnessed, read articles, watched news bulletin and videos of many happenings around our neighbourhood on scams and scammers exploiting seniors, from Food court eating-in to taking away, social distancing and exclusive mandatory wearing of mask once leaving the house for basic essential Circuit breakers implemented, I guess majority has have adjusted to the calls by relevant authority.Well and good. The call to abort, cancel or postponed the GE is not an easy task, planning and execution, administration and logistic task must be aligned 100% and it is not an easy feat, let alone many of us in every family has a son, daughter, cousin niece, nephew, MIL, FIL, friends and colleagues are critically involved as front lines/ healthcare practitioner/s including many unsung hero/heroine.Many of us need rest and recreation to refresh, recoup or even re-generate the taxing mind over matters. The battery cells are dead tired, it need time to re-charge and re-energise. My bone of contention is : Can the Government stand up and deliver faithfully and loyally in the campaigning period, rally and speeches, rebuttal and delivery, cameras vs standalone candidate on their out-pouring cry for support, my point is: Instead We should all stand-up as ONE UNITED CITIZENS to fight these CoronaVirus Together as ONE PEOPLE ONE NATION 101%. Lastly how are we gonna to do just that ? Critical measure needs to Critical decision-making. Fight the Virus free then Focus on GE later, come what may . . . We shall Prevail. Atonchia Supersonic April 17, 2020 Share April 17, 2020 Of course have to be fast lah... SGporeans have a tendency to be very forgetful. After 3 weeks everything formatted......... Spent so much billions...... Better conduct election before the few hundred bucks in bank, withdrawn and spent on cigarettes and beer.... Literally gone up in smoke and gone down the drain........... minion 4th Gear May 5, 2020 Share May 5, 2020 3 Months have almost passed. Those said no in 3 months, win liao. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/covid-19-elections-bill-passed-singaporeans-stay-quarantine-vote-12699888 Good to pass bill to have contingency. This one fully support. Great leaders, is it only we peasants that can see the letters written so clearly: Before April 2021 Is Nov 2020, Dec 2020, Jan 2021, Feb 2021, Mar 2021 not before April 2021? or Even Oct 2020 not before April 2021? why made so much fuss back in March to have election immediately? I think some where, need to calibrate. https://www.mom.gov.sg/newsroom/press-releases/2020/0421-over-62000-employers-to-benefit-from-$675-million-in-foreign-worker-levy-rebates https://www.businesstimes.com.sg/government-economy/singapore-lay-offs-may-hit-100000-in-2020-with-unemployment-at-4-5 This report card says otherwise. You have more than 100 000 people looking at food on the table. Because after 6 months. Tnose still looking for job consider not unemplyed. So the report card and data analytics need to look at where its coming from. But 5 million population vs 100 xxx workers, i feel pretty confident they know where the voters are. PMD got rebate. Self employed got rebate. Am sure many will want to consider their choice.
Meanmachine Supercharged May 7, 2020 Share May 7, 2020 I totally agreed with Sdf4786 explanation, Why cant G do one thing at a time, with C-19 still churning out hundreds of new cases per day, it's mind boggling to find peace and solace once the lockdown is open to public. How will Singaporean workforce react by going back office ? Schools of all primary to tertiary institutions counter the mass returning students & supply chains company still not getting back on their feet . . . I already feel the strains and tiredness, minus the daily walk exercise, eating moderately, more than sleep and rest, the mind needs more thinking how to get back to the reality of life to normalcy. For the G planning forth-comimg GE campaigning, the moods is not there, most important now is find lost job, unemployment hitting sky high and many small F&B outlets are facing uncertainty or bankruptcy looping around the corner. The handout of reliefs by G is an token of appreciation, my thoughts are the aftermath of every crisis and setbacks, thy have to address the importance with careful consideration and astute planning / execution or the GE will be a total wash-out and free-fall.

Playtime Twincharged May 30, 2020 Share May 30, 2020 for someone who literally spent his entire life protected from foreign competition... he sure talks big. in fact, id goes far as to say he is protected from local competition too. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news...ected-12786876 When asked if Singapore would review its reliance on foreign manpower, Mr Chan said the demand was "not monolithic" and served to complement the Singapore workforce. “Our position has always been to see how we can reduce the dependence on the low wage workers in the construction industry, in the cleaning industry, in the security industry (and) so forth,” he said. Reducing the country’s reliance on foreign manpower would also involve reducing the demand for manpower in certain sectors - such as using more high-tech methods in construction, incorporating greater security features when designing new buildings and people adopting "social habits" of cleaning up after themselves and taking care of the environment."We are constantly looking to see how we can get ... talented foreign manpower to complement the Singapore workforce, because if they are not competing on our side, then they are competing against us," he said. “We would like to have talented individuals to be part of team Singapore, rather than competing against Singapore if they were somewhere else,” he added. ↡ Advertisement 1
