Desktop and monitor probably 10% cheaper..

Need to set some personal rules and communicate them. No more work channel after usual knock-off time, and none on weekend and public holiday too unless super urgent.

In this day and age there are still people who are uncomfortable with sharing their personal mobile numbers, so need to account for this too.

I received email from HR the other day saying all those WFH personnel will receive extra $35 for phone claims.(Good luck to you if you don't have free incoming calls) To me it translates to my phone become Geylang. Anyone have the right to call it now. I cannot say "Sorry hor, this is personal line." Guess what, after all this WFH is over, & we're back to office, these folks will still be calling my mobile.[bigcry]

At the intitial stage, it was a good hobby to queue time. And it is a mini good form of work out as well. The only problem is my right hand is already very sore lar.

If you are at your desk 90% of your work time, and there is no need for you to carry your work back with you, Desktop and monitor makes more sense actually.

Giving staffs desktops instead of desktops is not always about cost, or a better deal. I know of many business, MNCs, giving their CS staffs 24" monitors for the comfort of their eyes. where to find a 24" laptop?

some staffs with laptops actually requested for docking systems and a bigger monitor with keyboard when they are in the office.

Get a TPG line. Only latest phone can call you. $10/mth. You earn $25/mth.

Having to open multiple documents,  it's really difficult to do it on a 14 inch screen on my laptop. I end up buying an extra monitor for WFH purpose.

Why not just connect to the tv. 40 to 65 inches tv should be big enough for work.

Yah, some work still better to do it with a bigger screen, its also easier on the eyes and sitting posture.

I saw many ppl actually dabao their desktops, monitors and keyboards back home when I went to help my OC bring her docking system back. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Maybe cause i'm in the tech industry, so it's the norm to have laptops all round + 3 monitors

Any screen bigger than 24 will make font smaller than laptop screen.

Not all companies want to buy laptop for their lowest level staff especially when huge monitor is required for data entry.

there are super cheap option called workstation with Thin client . Software and data is keep on premise / cloud.

Super cheap. But IT worried they out of job because everything outsources.

In fact, some of the cloud vendor tells you. Whatever my competitor quote u, discount another 70% and that will be my price.

So its very competitive market.

thats super old school.

With Digital transformation, your electricity footprint can be reduce further.

Only problem is the "fear factor" of jobs been remotely transferred out of country.

But that has pretty much being contain as there is Cross border tax to be manage. IF that happens, the tax rate will negate any savings. PLUS no one willing to have services with 60 Days holiday per year. So that will never happen unless its for expenses and some transaction that has super low SLA. else the low quality of work with cost consideration will be wipe out within 2 services failure.

AND IF really want to risk fly under radar, tax evasion is a criminal offence that the CEO goes to jail for. So no one would want to take that risk.

In short, digital transformation is safe enough , for now, until they change the tax structure.

I agree. I am given a laptop for my work, but I am so used to a large monitor, I shifted my own monitor to the office to use.

I like the landscape of it. Multitask make it simpler.

This WFH is a new thing to most of us. So, we are still learning the DO's and DON'T's.

I have friends whose superior calls them at 6am or 11pm...

I think we should all respect the normal working hours even though is WFH
