Tks for the clarification @Carbon82!

Yes totally different I can now see from the pics u provided. What got me confused was that they are both higher end sports cars from the same make ie Nissan. Seldom do I see non sports cars brands esp Japs producing more than one sports car eg Subaru with the BRZ only, Toyota with the 86 though they now have a Supra, Mazda MX5 etc

Also, my knowledge of Jap sports cars are limited.

Fairlady is more roadster, competing with Brz type.

GTR is grand tourer, more for sustained long distance runs.

BRZ/86 is a fun sports car designed for drifter.

Fairlady is daily use sports car

GTR is supercar slayer.

HOW DARE YOU EVEN PUT THE LAST 2 PHOTOS UNDER THE SKYLINE FAMILY TREE!! THAT'S BLASPHEMY!! 😱

He's technically right leh. Skyline line continue under Infinit and the GTR is now a standalone model. Weirdly, Nissan introduced the new 400R under Skyline. Maybe coz the GTR already exceeded 400hp. [laugh]

Jap used to make many sports cars in the 90s to compete with the European brands. Nissan had their silvias, Zs, GTRs and Toyota had celicas, supras, MR-S. Subaru TC almost every model of their car. Mit had the Galant VR4 and Evo, etc. They also had a lot of "fun to drive" sporty cars like the 86, starlet, Charade gti, swift Gti. It was kind of golden age for jap automotive industry.

Things kind of go down due to emission control, jap economy and they pull out of F1 and WRC. Jap makers killed off many of their sports cars for awhile and only recently, do we see them slowly coming back.

One of the most beautiful feature of the 280 Z is the head lights

They should have kept it.

And model it on the Dino.

Maybe even make it rotate when in use

and kept flush when not.

Why they never learn anything from the 370Z?

The door handle is so not ergonomic at all. need to twist your hand to reach for the handle one.

But the nice thing is the 400Z have no fake vents. haha. At least it is keeping it simple. I like it.

technically a girl is considered 18 at the start of the year but still need to wait for the birth date to be actually 18... 😁😁

actually, the skyline name did continue under Nissan, it is only known as Infinity in certain countries for brand elevation purposes.. but then again, ask any car lover, you will struggle to get anyone who would call the v35/36 a true skyline..
