Nope. The Woodlands hospital is not ready yet. The staffs are currently employed in various parts of SG. I heard some in KTPH and AH.

Where will you be stationed bro?

Junior Doctors work long hours. No time to spend money.

Daily hours around 12hours.

No need to be doctors, many people also work around 10 hours. 😅

In Singapore, you think getting into medicine is sure thing? So there is no question of force but pressure from within yourself and family. If really it isn't what you truly want, do give others a chance. 😆

Pressure from family is "force" lorr.. Expectations too. This "mookerjee" fellow, his parents maybe think can get bigger dowry if he is doctor [laugh]

I mean, it makes sense not to choose career that pays low (in UK at least), so it is highly likely he chose the career for the promise of future huge rewards, when he becomes some specialist. So just wait patiently la, why complain? Everyone has to go thru this period of "cadet-ship" with low salary.

On the other hand if he became plumber or heating tradesman in UK, the income is potentially higher than junior doctor, but his Asian parents would be aghast! [laugh]

Definitely took a pay cut. I was expecting it. I am going in not for the money but to help others.

NHS is a huge cost center for the govt.

Due to the budget deficit, the NHS wages have been in severe stagnation for the last decade or longer.
My friend worked there for a year. He said their NHS consultant pay is roughly equivalent to our trainee specialist pay. But the surgical discplines can earn some extra cash outside by having private clinics.

U gotta imagine how much a nurse/allied staff earn there if that's the case for consultants/senior consultants.

Jeremy Hunt, the current Chancellor of the Exchequer aka "finance minister", implemented funding cuts to NHS pre-covid which was already unpopular then.

It is also how our system works. Plumbing is not just connecting 2 pipes. Just like street doctors.

In Oz, a good plumber can earn as much as a specialist trainee dr..

Call them after hours, it's double, if it's a public holiday, it's triple..

That's why DIY is big in Oz. Here, they slave away for hours and the returns are not great.

So everyone who came to my place was foreign except the boss. I'm not yelling CECA unlike others, because my pipes will still be stuck and leaking if I waited for local help..

Not going to happen if we try to go local. Who wants to pay a thousand dollars per job?

Here we treat academics superior to blue collar by limiting the numbers admitted for academics and generalize the blue collar job. Anyone is an electrician or plumber as long as you know Handyman job. Cheap labour without the correct training add to the problem. Similar problems will happen if we accept doctors from any sources, who will pay our specialists? So, it boils down to how we want our living standard.

Off topic, just look at the quality of our fittings, example windows. Compare them with those in Japan or Australia. Tell be if they are of the same.

NHS cost the poor UK citizen 11% of GDP but everyone gets free health care.

US heath care cost US citizens 20% of GDP but only the rich gets heath care. Yes Obama care covers more people now but not everybody.

Why does NHS cost half of US health care but covers more people?

The MCF term for this is Group Buy.

One gov dept buys all the medicines for all the hospitals where as in US every individual hospital buys their own.

:D

As for doctors pay.

A picture tells a thousand words.

MPs in debate for MP's own 10% pay increase.

Anyway I didn't come here to talk about NHS.

I think with Carlite not much prospects for a used car dealer like me

and massage spa business is so competitive a lot of my competitors give free extra services for young ladies.

So I was thinking what is the next trend not for mid life but more like matured life career change that is hot right now.

What are the jobs employers cannot find people and paying a ridiculous amount to attract people?

I don't mind retraining but don't know what course to take.

I like taking pictures of naked ladies and thought something like an X radiographer might be appropriate but I am open to other ideas.

Anyone got good suggestions?

I am very open and flexible as my customers will tell you.

:D
