therock Supersonic March 26, 2023 Share March 26, 2023 (edited) A shout out to BS - yeah the name inspires a few giggles but Bala and Subra come to fix what could be a very serious issue My PUB bill went up four times last month... and I was in NZ so something was wrong.. hunting down a leak is no joke, but they managed to narrow it down to three spots and we fixed it. A day's work, plus some pipe tightening, and also replaced a leaky WC... good folks And that's no BS Edited March 26, 2023 by therock ↡ Advertisement

But the tap first then the wrench! I don't have a proper wrench, and it was a pain to tighten using one plastic multi tool.

One for removing the hose and one for removing the tap nut? Just checked mine. Yes confirmed 24/27mm. This is pipe wrench is the only wrench you need for typical basins With cold only taps. Kitchen taps or mixers you might need a 8 or 10mm one to remove the nuts to long threads to hold in a bracket I think you should know the procedure. Shut off the water. undo the hose on the shut off valve side with a spanner then thread the pipe wrench thru the hose to undo the hose from the tap. then use the pipe wrench to undo the nut holding the tap in place. Installation is the reverse. Edited April 15, 2023 by Mkl22

Give it one try and ask for a pro if it doesn't work ok? Else get my tool kit, I got spares even hahaha, forgot I bought some and got duplicates... Like tennis, even if you don't play well, you must get the right gear to look good ma... haha (oh FYI, I did get the gold medal in my interdept games, so don't play play - those old days..)

When I want to do some plumbing work, I end up buying lots of tools. $160 for one job can buy you lots, with spare change. Dunno what size to get ? Well, maybe just start with a cheap set, https://shopee.sg/10Pcs-6-22mm-Metric-Tubular-Box-Wrench-Set-Tube-Bar-Spark-Plug-Spanner-Steel-Double-Ended-for-Automotive-Plumb-Repair-i.131669035.15705278474 and then start adding more. Mostly, I find you'll need 23mm onwards. I can never tell, which size I need, as you need multiple tools for removing hose, turning tap locking nut, etc. etc. Then there's flat adjustable spanners, and so on. 😁
