As a MP, if you have a meet the people session, you better be there. If you are away, the least you fix an appointment for the day you will be around. You cannot saim and let your kakis act for you. If they could handle then no need you liao. My experience with Halimah is different. She was there and meet you personally. So if you are so senior and has no time to meet the people, then make it known you won't be meeting lah.

Did you find out why he could not be there? A regular occurrence?

Most of the ministers are like that one (with maybe one or two exceptions who will show up). You think PM Lee go to his own meet the people session meh.

If you go taman jurong food ctr at lunchtime on Saturday, sometimes will see him there with his entourage. Maybe meeting grassroots then after that makan [laugh]

I know KBW would show up sometimes, and Vivian when he was a bit more junior. Not sure about the rest.

I went twice and specifically ask to see him after his kakis were unable to handle my case. They did try getting a more senior guy and he too spoke to another indian man who was on the phone with someone on the other line. End of the day, as I have said, if it is not the right day, name a a date. Surely asking for an appointment is not impossible. Unless it is a situation where Ministers don't attend to meet the people session anymore. Then it would be good to say so. Nobody will be expecting it. Fair?
