I suppose the veterans around here have an idea, and the only ones who don't - are the Guests or the casual folks who browse without any intention to respond. Understand the workshop in question has guys trawling through these forums, so I have no wish to stir up any arguments that may have legal ramifications. Only reason I went to them was because their late hours suited my work schedule. I got Yokohama's and not their flagship brand of Chinese tyres. Once again, appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment here. Have a good week ahead Sir. 1

You cannot trust workshops to be careful with your car unless you pay a premium to let them do their job slowly and carefully. I have never scratched any of my rims since I got my license. Regardless of car or light truck, van. it’s is quite different to compare a dinged car door vs scratched rim. One you cannot control and the other it totally within your control. 😂 Edited June 8, 2024 by Mkl22

Jamesc Hypersonic June 8, 2024 Share June 8, 2024 (edited) How not to scratch your rims. Park next to the kerb at a distance you feel comfortable. For example 6 inches from the kerb. Look at the base of your windscreen where it intercepts the kerb. In the picture below the kerb would be say the white lines. Then see where the white lines intercept say the middle of the windscreen or maybe intercepts one of the wipers. Next time move to the kerb until that part of the wiper meets the kerb. Heartlander Turbocharged June 8, 2024 Share June 8, 2024 Get those tyres with rim protector feature lah. Chances of rim being scratched would be greatly reduced. My F1A6 came with it.
Repulsive_War_018 Neutral Newbie November 24, 2025 Share November 24, 2025 Ouch, sorry to see that; sloppy work like this is exactly why I stopped letting workshops touch anything electrical on my car. A few months back, I had a tyre shop “helpfully” top up my battery water… they spilled acid all over the tray and shorted out two fuses. Lights started flickering, car randomly refused to start – looked exactly like a big expensive problem. Took me ages to trace because I didn’t have the proper wiring diagram. Ended up downloading the full factory workshop manual and found the exact fuse layout + power distribution diagram in under 5 minutes. Turned out they melted the main battery feed. Cleaned it up, replaced the £3 fuse, done. Now I always keep the manual on my phone, whenever anyone touches the car saves so much headache when things go wrong because of someone else’s mistake.
