I think in the past, many is willing to pay more for premium conti marques (besides the badge effect) is because compared to B&B cars, they are generally:

1) Better equipped from a tech & safety equipment perspective.

2) Drives significantly better and more powerful than B&B cars.

3) Looks good/expensive on outside and feels premium on the inside.

Now, the tables have flipped because B&B cars are no longer the slow and noisy bone-shaker tin cans equipped with 1 driver-side airbag.

hardly see any new E200 these days. conti brands selling mid size saloons dying a slow death.

If I look at UK prices as an example. 

Chinese EV like 7X, Sealion 7 going for about 50k sterling. A6 base going for about 52k.

But in SG, even take away the 40k EV rebates, why A6 is 50% more? OK part of it is the VES extra 25k (besides the 40k diff).

Other than badge prestige, there is no selling point for E200/A6/520

And the endless christmas tree lights caused by sensor after sensor failure, after just 3-5 years.

I remember seeing somewhere (not sure if it's true) why premium German marques are unreliable after 3-5 years is because in many of their major markets, these cars are actually mostly leased. After a few years, these cars will be dumped on the used car market pretty much worthless.

Sometimes I wonder about the patience of people. Willing to spend to keep fixing. Saying it’s part and parcel of conti ownership and wear and tear. 
Its 2025, it’s not back to the 60s 70s where you have to always visit the workshop to fix this and that. 
hence it’s no wonder many are embracing EVs, less hassles. Maybe more throw away. But if it’s cheap enough, heck… then just throw.

Actually before moving to EVs, my concern with EVs is that it will also have the typical perennial christmas tree light ups plaguing conti cars after 3-5 years.

But from my research on EVs in China, that has been running for years, and also on teslas in the US and many other parts of the world, it does seem like the elctronics in EVs are generally more reliable. i'm not sure why, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

This happened to 1 of my Supplier a few Years ago,Boss told Workers,this Year no Bonus due to poor Business,but Boss & his Brother each bought a zs-Class & 2 Condos,end up,new Year start Work,no Employees turn up to Work.

Audi does not have the same brand clout as Merc/BMW/Lexus, period. They will soon become like volvo here at the rate things are going.

This new Audi A6 the standard specs not that bad lah. All the ADAS stuff are now standard, B&O audio standard. Maybe only missing the ventilated seats and sunroof. 

BMW, Audi, Lexus & even Volvo no longer skimp on such things. Worst offender is still C&C's Mercedes-Benz. Spent so much simple Adaptive Cruise Control still an option on a $380k E-Class, when today's cheap and cheerful cheena EV has it as standard. Driving Asst Package which gives you the equivalent ADAS features as this A6 is a $14k option on the E-Class.

8.2 seconds for the 2.0T is a joke... Those horses merry go round ones? Or the 7 speed (least number if gears among the conti competition) is the bottleneck? All my current old cars will jiak this A6 anytime.

Emissions…. Euro6/7… Europeans ownself screw ownself. Kill their own auto makers and then allow China to swoop in with many EVs. 
if anything, those greenies should tio pok first.

All the Germans in this segment roughly around the same acceleration 8 secs (520i), 7.5 secs (E200). Their benchmark has always been each other in the equivalent segment for the longest time.   

End up the Cheena EVs come in with all the bells & whistles at 1/2 their prices then the Germans surprised Pikachu 🤣
