So the key question is when the extra battery that serves as IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) is not working, can the car still continue to move?

Understand for the 2nd generation 1.3L Civic Hybrid with IMA will still be able to drive the car, albeit with lower power and torque as the there will be no assist from the electric motor/IMA.

Vezel hybrid should not be undriveable when its battery is dead/flat. In Vezel Hybrid, there is an extra battery that serves as the IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) energy source, which powers a motor that delivers instantaneous torque to support the engine's output.

The battery in question is charged by the main gasoline engine like a normal car, when it is low on charge. What I'm not sure of is whether the battery is also used to start the car or supply electrical power to other systems, or if there is in fact a regular battery serving those purposes. You might be able to jump start the car the normal way if that is the case.

Hybrid's torque is definitely much more than the gasoline only version. Electric motors in hybrids provide instantaneous maximum torque - they can produce their maximum output without having to rev up - which greatly improves driveability and 'zippiness'.

Hi,

Anybody explored aftermarket shocks and springs to improve on the ride quality on the vezel yet?

Personally feel the rear is a lttle oversprung and underdamped. Makes ride feel busy.

How is the experience servicing at World Auto and how long does it take to service the car?

Dun worry about their servicing, I had been using World Auto for the past 4yrs on my SX4, did a thorough check on my car. Now I can't use them as I have bought my Vezel from other PI and have to stick with their Workshop.

If it still relies on a normal car battery for charging, it should still be able to start up and move with the gasoline engine. Honda's IMA system is, unlike other hybrids, engine-first - meaning that the engine is the primary mover in all scenarios and the motor is purely used as an assist to improve performance and economy, in contrast to, say, Toyota hybrids which allow for fully electric range.

That said the Vezel is a newer hybrid from Honda that may not adhere to the old IMA-style model they used, and information on it is really scarce beyond Honda's own japanese website.

But, frankly, I'm not sure why people are so worried about hybrid batteries - they aren't known to be a frequent source of trouble, and every day we are carrying lithium batteries in our pockets that last for years.

Neutral Newbie

Anyone knows of any workshop in SG that can change some setting parameters of the Mazda rides?

A good place to try will be Monster Garage, they are Mazda specialist.

Own personal feel, i mean there have been studies done and also Vezel manual reccomends W20. of cus i would prefer to switch to W30.. If mechanic says because Japan got winter, dosen't mean Japan no Summer also right? I made that mistake earlier when i mentioned about it before.

TBH i know almost all workshops use W40.. very seldom will reccomend W30.. dunno why.. But my old regular mechanic also in the business for 30years did reccomend me W30 for my newer car. I did ask him when i was driving my old civic to use W30, he told me W40 better for older cars cus thicker oil..

Really very subjective, but we can't challenge the R&D and engineers who study them for a living right?

Yup, unfortunately this is import car made for Jap, so the situation is slightly different as you have mention. By any chance, you mean there automobile research engineer in this forum working for one of these car brand?

Many old bird friends drivers said recommend W30. So the disconnect before the workshop and driver/car enthusiast are quite different. And of course and more easy going group says just make sure you service regularly will do.

Look at Audi it says 5w40.

So anyway, I think the thread is getting a little off track but I would want to try W30 too.....will see when the day comes. This is just one little tiny aspect of life but is good to know.

wanted to go back to them for servicing, but I can't becos of the PI warranty, thus have to wait for 3yrs later then I can choose my own workshop.

In fact, i wanted to my friend workshop to do it not because lower cost. Their industry are also having a very hard time now, many of them  are struggling, many scrap cars and less new one.

And many owner are going to Johor to fix their cars because of our SG strong currency which worsen the situation.

i will check it out later on how the 3 years warranty actually works when i collect my car.

I love hybrid cars, environmentally friendly. In fact i read somewhere Toyota gave a 10 years guarantee on the batteries.

Seems like the govt is not active supporting it just by looking at the road tax and pricing.

I will still seriously consider to get a hybrid in future for my 2nd car.

Me too, I will check with the PI how the 3 years warranty works before deciding.

Looking at the HR-V manual for their units meant for US and Canada market (1800cc), the only stated or recommended viscosity is 20. Vezel manual also stated 20.

If workshop insists on 40, then they must be smarter than the folks in Honda.

I'm switching to W30 when hit 5k.. see how it feels.. maybe cus i do alot of day-day driving about 50km average a day with at least average 20 start-stop/on-off engine a day..

Regarding ur Audi thread.. how many audis with problem.. haha kidding

Not really a sidetrack, cus we drive Vezel, so its impt to know what's best for our cars..

Same, i would rather go back to my old workshop.. got the family feel, very comfortable.. too big of a workshop like World Auto.. makes it too like unfriendly..

They aren't able to do so. Maybe the Mazda can't adjust any parameters unlike the VW, Audi etc

Anyone selling Vezel fitted outdoor car cover?

Would like to buy one.

I got one that came with the car. You mean the gray cover to cover your entire car right? Got Vezel wording on it also. Brand new. Don't think I will use it.
