Just got letter from Wearnes telling me that my 2015 V60 has a problem with the door latches breaking. Very unhappy about their level of service. This to me this is safety and security issue. The problem with the latches was known back in 2019 for the S60 and V60. Wearnes kept saying back then, that they know nothing about the cars being affected here. Took them 2 years to finally admit it. This means that owners have been living with this known issue unnecessarily. Many probably paid to get this problem fixed not knowing that it's quality problem. Shame on you Wearnes!

Stationwagons are not exactly the de facto car of choice for Asian buyers, but the cutting-edge styling of this V60 had our team curious, so we tested one to see if it is still the perfect family hauler. Initial impressions are good, with the car delivering sleek, Swedish design inside and out. Standout features include the 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system flanked by rectangular air vents as well as the larger-than-life panoramic sunroof. Children and in-laws will have scant to complain of in the rear, with ample space all around for all rear occupants, thanks to Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, the current generation not only sports a 100mm longer wheelbase than before, which translates into greater rear legroom, but boot capacity has also been increased to a now class-leading 529 litres. Fold the rear benches down and a generous 1,441 litres of hauling space will be available to you. Meanwhile, the family man will also be pleased to know that the T5 R-Design we tested is capable of finishing the century sprint in just 6.5 seconds, and comes with a driving mode selector, allowing you to toggle between four different driving modes to extract different driving characteristics from the car - Eco, Normal, Dynamic and Individual, perfect for those rare occasions where you get the car all to yourself. The 2011 Geneva Motor Show will host the world premiere of the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid, a near production-ready model that is said to return a very impressive 1.9 liter/100 km with CO2 emissions under 50 g/km. Such green credentials are achieved by combining a diesel engine with an electric motor. The front wheels are driven by a 2.4-liter 5-cylinder turbo diesel powerplant capable of 215HP and 440 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. At the back, there's a 70HP electric motor that powers the rear wheels together with a 12kWh lithium-ion battery pack. In all-electric driving mode, the V60 Plug-in Hybrid has a driving range of up to 52km.

Volvo is one of those manufacturers that are seriously pursuing engine downsizing in their larger passenger cars. They first started using a small 1.6liter direct injection turbo diesel in their flagship saloon the S80 a few months back and according to European reviewers, the car is still a refined car. So in a bid to further lower the carbon emissions and increaase fuel economy throughout their vehicle range, Volvo have now launched their Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDi) engines in 1.6liter form which will deliver high (for its size) performance while delivering favorable fuel consumption. The new 1.6liter will firstly be available in the new S60 sedan and V60 station wagon variants. The 1.6liter GTDi which will be fitted in the S/V60 T3 version will have 150bhp/240Nm and the T4 version with a 180bhp/240Nm. The T4 variant will have a ECU controlled overboost feature that will increase torque to 270Nm which is available on demand

In an attempt to capture a larger number of sales in the competitive European wagon category, the new Volvo V60 has been launched as the sporty five-door version of the all-new S60. The car is being offered with eight different engines in an attempt to lure at least 50,000 new customers annually. The V60 is available with four inline-four petrol engines, including two 1.6-liter Ecoboost units that produce up to 240 Nm of torque with either 150 or 180 horsepower, and two 2.0-liter models that produce either 203hp and 300Nm or 240 hp and 320Nm. Its range-leading inline-six is a 3.0-liter unit that kicks out 304 hp and up to 440Nm. This powerful engine gets the car from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, with an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h. To make the car look sportier, it has been given a coupe-inspired roof, sculpted styling at the front, and a bulging "shoulder" to keep with Volvo's design language. The car will be sold on a new dynamic chassis in Europe, though some markets will get a choice between a touring chassis and the European standard with its stiffer dampers. Technology innovations include collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, stability control and traction control, just to name a few. Fold-flat seating is not only available at the back, but also applicable on the front passenger seat, providing maximum loading capability for long objects.

Volvo has unveiled the S60 and V60 R-Designs ahead of the Paris Motor Show, in an effort to further enhance the appeal of these new models. The R-Designs have a revised grille, modified bumpers, an aggressive rear diffuser, and unique 18-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin features sport seats, aluminum pedals, and special floor mats. To improve handling, Volvo engineers installed a strut brace, shorter springs (which reduce ride height 15mm), and stiffer bushings (20% firmer than the standard model). On top of these, they also added monotube rear dampers and Corner Traction Control which uses torque vectoring to reduce understeer. The R-Design package can be combined with all available engines, ranging from the 115HP DRIVE 1.6-liter diesel unit to the range topping 3.0-liter turbocharged-six petrol with 304 horsepower.
