  1. I am casual smoker myself and I am quite fed-up with all the restriction places they put up as Non smoking area. No smoking at HDB void deck and shelter walkway and housing corridors to whatever place they pleases and don't allowed it. I was like PLEASE!! If the Incumbent of this country don't want every smoker to smoke, then simply just Ban importing of cigarette to our country just like what they did to chewing gum and make smoking an illegal act of activity. Really can't stand them. Wanna create difficulties for the smoker to smoke but yet still wanna hold on to the taxes income revenue they make from the consumer and the cigarette company. I rather they Ban smoking totally in our country and dun be a ku niang lidat and point here & point there and tell the public these are the Non-smoking place. Really can't stand them.
  2. Extracted from other forum...how many will actually stay put...another good stepping stone for them... December 28th, 2011 (Cebu Daily News)
  3. Do you think gahment's policy for vehicle is a little too optimistic? I think you all should know that the gov set veh population growth to be at 1.5% per annum. Do you think this value is a little too aggressive or too optimistic considering the jam we are facing daily? Although there is work done to improve road system, I don't think LTA can accurately predict the results of these improvements. It may increase car handling capacity by 20-50% or more but no one knows for sure till its completed and we see the results. http://www.lta.gov.sg/corp_info/doc/MVP01-...0by%20type).pdf Stats taken from LTA website shown that we have close to 600K car on the road. 1.5% is ~9K..... thats quite a big number esp. when you consider that distribution of veh is not even. This increase is not distributed evenly to all the road but some roads (esp. highways) will see more increase than other roads esp. during peak hours. And we have yet to include other vehicles. I am just wondering if our road systems (even when upgraded) can handle this annual increase. If you think of 10yrs from now, there will by close to 100K more cars on the road. Do we even have enough parking lots to cater for these cars.... Thus I feel it will a matter of time because gov has to reduce the coe till growth is negative in order to reduce no. of vehicles on the road. IMHO, ERP can only solve the problem to a certain extend, if there are way too many cars on the road, no matter how much you increase ERP, there will still be jams.
  4. Its bloody long overdue for gahment to intro ethanol petrol (E5, E10 etc...). Ie. Ethanol mixed in regular petrol. Europe and US already using it for a long long time and we don't even have? Even Thailand have it. Ethanol fuel is usually slightly cheaper than regular ones (apart from premium petrol), thus we save $$$. Ethanol will also boost RON rating and thus we get higher grade petrol. So is it because they earn less thus don't want?
  5. Singapore could be the first country to use the GPS or global positioning system to track vehicles on the road for tax purposes. Operation is expected this year or next, after an expected snap election is held. The move may be unpopular among voters with an adverse impact against the government. Over the long-term, if not immediately, it will increase transport costs for Singaporeans. The satellite-tracked electronic system would technically charge drivers using any road any time in Singapore
  6. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20090728/tbs-...ce-ec2362a.html Anyone read this? Whats the price of petrol in China? Higher than Singapore?
