  1. Hi everyone! 👋 Desmond here on behalf of the Sgcarmart Editorial Team. So, 2024 brings some changes to Mycarforum. As you'll increasingly notice in the coming months, the Editorial Team has taken over the content management of this platform. There are changes in store. The Forum, not so much. It will continue to be a vibrant platform for all MCF members to interact. However, major changes are afoot for this Blog. We are going in a different direction, revealing the slightly most esoteric side of the Editorial Team. What can you expect? Well, a little bit of everything. While cars are how we make a living, cars aren't the only thing in our lives. For all car-centric content, you can continue to get them from the various Sgcarmart platforms, including our Articles section, Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok. We’ll continue to bring you the most timely, relevant and interesting automotive content. But for everything else, well, you’ll see it here. Each of us as writers have varying interests, and you're going to be reading all about them. Photography, watches, music, movies, pop culture, geography, Tomica, cycling, tiny living, mental well-being, expect to see a little bit of everything. Our thoughts, our daily experiences (at work or otherwise), a little bit of all of us. All of your various interests, and all of ours as well. What exact form will this blog take? It's hard to say right now. But what we can promise is interesting, different, fun and exciting new content. So, stay tuned for what's in store! The Sgcarmart Editorial Team: Julian, Desmond, Mattheus, Jeremy, Zhi Xuan, Clarence, Denise
  2. I am a newbie to this. What is the best way to get EPL content live and also on-demand ? I checked out Singtel Cast's Sports Plus but the offering is only real-time. Also, for NBA, are there local providers for live and on-demand? Thank you.
  3. Due to increasing amount of sleazy content that have found their way into MCF, I have made an announcement stating the forum's stand and the appropriate place such content should be posted. I will reproduce it here as the announcement section does not allow for posting replies. http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2694634-inappropriate-content-and-discussions/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mcfers, It has come to our attention that certain members of our community have been indiscriminately engaging in sexually inappropriate discussions and/or sharing explicit media in forum sections which are intended to be family-friendly and suitable for casual workplace browsing. We urge all members to familiarize themselves with our Terms and Conditions. To cater to a wider variety of needs, we do have dedicated sections permitting the discussion of non-family friendly topics. For the consideration of other users who may be offended or upset by non-family friendly discussions or explicit media, we wish to remind all users that any discussions containing sexual innuendo should be confined to specific threads only. (No new threads with similar explicit media to be opened.) To name a few: http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2681566-today-friday-you-know-part-2/page-18?hl=Friday http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2694161-jasons-tiko-thread/?hl=tiko http://www.mycarforu...page-34?hl=tiko In response to various complaints we have received on inappropriate discussions, we will begin issuing warnings to users who continue to post inappropriate content outside of the designated sections where such content is allowed. First time offenders will be issued with a warning. Repeat offenders will be permanently banned. In addition, we would take this opportunity to urge all members to be mindful and aware of the importance of complying with forum regulations when engaging in sensitive topics relating to (without limitation) religious, racial and political issues or material which may be considered to be potentially defamatory. We appreciate your cooperation in our efforts to keep our car forum a healthy and conducive environment for all our users.

  5. http://www.tremeritus.com/2012/07/22/sphs-...are-from-china/ On the Stomp website yesterday (21 Jul), The Stomp Team contributed a story about a PRC couple showering their daughter literally with money on her birthday [Link]. The incident happened in a town called Linfen in central Shanxi province of China. Thousands of dollars of notes were folded into ornaments and worn by the girl, appearing at a lavish banquet in a high-class hotel to celebrate the girl
  6. An interesting article on sulpur content and petrol. http://www.med.govt.nz/templates/Multipage...e____10382.aspx Since japan uses low sulpur content petrols and a substantial number of cars are direct JDM imports, how would our higher sulphur content petrol affect the engine's performance and engine life? Any body here in the oil refining industry? What is the sulphur content of 98, 95 and 92 petrols sold locally? Is there a marked difference? for example, in japan, my ride is required to use 100 RON and low sulphur content petrol (50 ppm) but apparently was detuned by C&C to use 95 RON. does sulphur content affect only the emissions or does it also affect engines? discussion?
  7. SINGAPORE NEWS SINGAPORE : With immediate effect, Pay TV providers which acquire exclusive broadcast rights to any programme, must cross-carry each other's content. This applies to any contract signed or renewed from March 12. It does not affect existing contracts. The fierce bidding over rights to broadcast the upcoming World Cup matches raised concerns over the issue of 'exclusive' rights, which has affected consumers in the Pay TV market. To lock out competitors, Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Lui Tuck Yew said on Friday said Pay TV operators are willing to fork out substantial amounts for exclusive rights. This has led consumers to cry foul, especially since they have to subscribe to both SingTel and StarHub - rivals in Singapore's PayTV market - for example, to catch their favourite football teams in action. This practice of holding on to exclusive content though is rare in international markets. Mr Lui said: "Content costs now constitute a significant percentage of pay TV operators' revenue, compared to international benchmarks. For example, SCV's content costs to revenue ratio has risen from 40 per cent prior to 2007 to close to 70 per cent today. This is much higher than the average 40 per cent for Pay TV operators in most other countries, including US, UK and Hong Kong. "Secondly, Singapore suffers from a high degree of content fragmentation compared to other countries. Out of 179 channels today, only seven channels are common to both SCV and SingTel. An international benchmarking exercise using a group of 16 popular channels showed that Singapore was the only country with exclusive arrangements for all 16 channels. "MDA's (Media Development Authority) review has concluded that this situation is unlikely to self-correct in the near future, and steps need to be taken to address this market failure". So under the new Media Market Conduct Code, there will be a Public Interest Obligation. This means Pay TV retailers must cross-carry each other's exclusive content. For example, if SingTel acquires a new channel exclusively, it must make this channel available to StarHub. StarHub must carry this programme at the same time SingTel is airing it - and vice versa. StarHub also cannot make any modifications to the content. This includes all the advertisements and branding SingTel may have embedded into the programme. And SingTel will have to pay StarHub to carry its exclusive content. It will be left to the telcos to work out a cost for this. For consumers, it means that they can watch an exclusive channel through just one Pay TV retailer. Consumers, regardless of which Pay TV service provider they belong to, will be charged the rate that has been stipulated by the original content provider. In the case of the example, whatever SingTel charges its customers for the exclusive content, StarHub customers will pay the same rate. Mr Lui elaborated: "Consumers would no longer require multiple set-top boxes or switch retailers each time the rights of exclusive content changes hands. This will facilitate greater consumer access to pay-TV content, and re-focus competition to other aspects, such as service differentiation and competitive packaging". For the industry, it means opening up the market to new players. The rights holder will be able to brand the exclusive content, market it and monetise it as it wishes. While the law takes immediate effect, the actually sharing of content is likely only to take place from September. For now, MDA will consult industry players, and sort out the details, like how consumers' bills will look like, and whether the review will affect new media platforms. As for how this will impact the broadcast of World Cup matches in Singapore, it is status quo for now, as SingTel and StarHub have submitted a joint bid and are waiting for FIFA's reply. Mr Lui said: "Let me just say that I am very happy that World Cup comes around only once every four years. We understand that SingTel and StarHub have recently made a new offer and negotiations with FIFA are still on-going. This is a commercial matter that is best left to the two pay-TV retailers and FIFA to settle. "I know time is running short; we are well into the second half, we are approaching injury time, but we remain hopeful that the negotiations will reach a sensible outcome." - CNA/ms Too bad, the actually sharing of content will only take place from September this year - After the World Cup.
