  1. Recently, was toying with the idea of upsizing wheels to 18s. Saw an advert for some 17" used tyres with reasonable amount of meat left so decided to purchase from a tyre shop that lists heavily in this forum while I take my time to shop for used premium 18s. Less than 300km of usage later, one of the tyres developed a bulge on the sidewall. The hump is no more than 3-5mm tall but after doing some research online, everything points to the tyre having being curbed and damaged. Most online advise was to switch out to prevent a blowout. Went back to this tyre shop to seek assistance but was extremely surprised and puzzled that the boss and worker said it was not an issue and that the tyre is safe for continued use. I asked like 5 times but each time they reassured me it's not a problem. These guys run a tyre shop so they should be experts in this field, yet I keep reading otherwise online. Anyone can clarify? Or have personal experiences? TIA
  2. While inflating my tires earlier, discovered a gash at the sidewall; seems quite bad, don't know whether to replace, please refer to attached photo (sorry taken in night and low light conditions). Any bros have experience? Will visit my usual tire shop first thing tomorrow morning for assessment. Thank you.
  3. I'm currently on bf goodrich g sport, and as it's already balding, I'm considering the Hankook v12 as my replacement as recommended by Frankie from Soh Tyres. I've read the reviews here that the sidewall is quite soft for v12, and as I'm a person who likes to take corners at "higher than normal" speeds, I would like to find out if anyone knows if the sidewall for the v12 is already harder than the bf goodrich. Was considering the RS2 but I think it's already out of production. I'm currently running on 195/50/15, which is why the RS3 is out of the question due to 17 inch not being available. If there are any other recommendations similar to the performance of the v12 I'm all ears as well! Thanks.
  4. When I was cleaning my rims just now, I notice one of my Michelin Energy Saver tyre had similar cracks on the sidewall as shown in the picture. (Photo was extracted online) But mine was not as deep. It's not very visible yet. Anyone can advice if I need a replacement or the cracks are normal due to exposure to bad weather on our sunny island? Cheers!
  5. opinions needed.... My S drive (205/45/16)got a nail near the sidewall few months ago and was plugged... so far so good.. it didnt leaked.. As of now...i have neutron nt5k back (30%) and front S drive (60-70%) i was thinking of wearing my S drive and change to 4 at one time in a yrs time... however im going genting 2 months later with my family... i was wondering whether i am putting them at risk.... max speed (150km/hr) there are options i exploring 1) rotate front / back as mine is FWD (make sense?) 2) change 4 but look for cheaper alternative like KU31 3) rotate front / back and change 1 pair of S drive... 4) dont bother, travel slightly slower.... 5) others??
  6. hi yesterday was turning out of a car park lot when my back rim hit the kerb (it was a perpendilcular parking lot and im parking just beside the kerb).. was not paying attention. sighz now rims got chipped and a small piece of my tyre sidewall was gashed, and you can pull a bit of rubber out, the gash was no too deep though worried, i drove to a tyre shop at petrol station and asked the guy to check for me he did a balancing and said rims are ok. for the tyre sidewall which is slightly gashed, he says its ok and will not affect the tyres, so he just use glue and glue the dangling small piece of tyre back into the sidewall the guy seems honest as the tyre shop has been around for years and its not handled by some china workers however, i'm still worried about the tyres, as i tend to step on accelrator esp when going on bends, worried that the tyre will just give way any bros has similar experience before and any advice? should i get a second opinion if so where? the piece of rubber that was gashed has already been glued back to the sidewall though thanks
  7. For the same tire size, RS2 or AD07 got a stiffer sidewall? Users who have used both before please comment. Thanks
  8. 1. It seems that Goodyear F1 sidewall is rather soft, barely less than a year and without tracking the side profile and treads begaining to show obvious sign of thining and aging. 2. Do you guys who are on this made also experiencing the same issue? 3. I wonder which are the tyres than have a stronger side-wall that at least last a year or so. Thank you. Regards,
  9. 3rd puncture in 2 weeks, happened while driving on Airport Rd. The road condition there is horrible due to construction of KPE. Mud and crap everwhere .... Is this considered as a sidewall puncture? Have retired this tyre to the spare compartment, the other 2 tyres which I'm currently using were punctured on the thread. Did interal patching for all 3 tyres.
  10. if the side wall is puctured (small hole), can it be patched up using the commonly used $7 ish tyre plug?
