  1. The ix25 (photos) is a sub-compact crossover built upon a variation of the i20's supermini platform. It will be sold exclusively in China. However, the global compact crossover boom means Hyundai could well build the car in international plants for worldwide consumption. If sold locally, the ix25 would be similar in most ways to the Matrix, Hyundai's popular small MPV that sold well during the noughties as it found favor with Singaporean families looking for an "affordable" and versatile runabout. The ix25 debuts this month in Beijing.
  2. [extract] Fiat has unveiled the 2013 500 Turbo at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California. The new variant aims for the sweet spot between the relatively hardcore Abarth and the standard 500. The Fiat 500 turbo offers a sport-tuned suspension, high-performance brakes and a revised steering system for improved handling. For a more aggressive appearance, the new 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo features a pronounced front fascia that has been pushed 2.7 inches forward of the car
  3. Nissan has released the initial details on the all-new 2013 Nissan Note mini MPV, ahead of its Japanese launch in September. The new model features a more dramatic design and the Japanese automaker is calling the car's deep character line a "Squash Line". The car would form the base for a replacement to the North American market Versa (Latio) hatchback. It may be a small car and but it is the first Nissan to be fitted with the Around View Monitor System, which was once only available in the high-end Infiniti models. However, one may wonder if the system is really necessary on this Jazz-sized subcompact. It would make more sense on a Teana. For its domestic market of Japan, the Note comes with two engine options. The first is the 1.2-litre HR12DE which generates 79bhp and 108Nm of torque. More interestingly is a supercharged, direct-injected three-cylinder HR12DDR (DIG-S) motor. The engine, which features Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS), makes 92bhp and 143Nm of torque while seeping petrol at a claimed rate of 25.2 km/L. These engines will be connected to a next-generation continuously variable transmission which promises to deliver class-leading fuel efficiency. The new Japanese-market Note will be manufactured at Nissan Motor Kyushu while the European Note will be made at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the U.K.

The hot hatch segment has grew rapidly over the last few years and today, these cars are able to deliver performance that was not imaginable in the small hatch segment roughly ten years ago. The performance of larger sized hot hatches are moving towards the sports car category and the space left behind are being taken up by a new generation of performance orientated subcompacts. And Ford has presented the all new 2013 Ford Fiesta ST as part of this new generation. Ford has released pictures of a production ready version of the 2013 Ford Fiesta which the company will unveil during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It is confirmed that the car will be launched first in the European market by 2013. The previous Fiesta ST was last offered in 2008 and fans of the car were clamouring for a new model ever since. Ford didn
