  1. Will be officially launching this weekend! To avoid the potential crowd, I went down to RM today to look at the real thing. 2 models available; 1.4A 5-dr & 1.4A 3-dr The design is indeed sleek , both interior & exterior. Leather. 15" alloy, Durashift 4 speed w manual override. Surprise that it is made in Germany! Slightly disappointed that the specs brought in is on the more scale down side compare to those in Europe. - 2 airbags only - No fog light; not even as optional - No push start button - Fewer colors options that those available in the UK site Reason given was to keep price competitive. Drive & handling is comparable to the Focus, steering obviously much lighter since is electric power assist. Well, since i'm no car critic, let's wait for those expert to provide their comments which should be out pretty soon. Is definetly one that i'm seriously considering.
  2. The ecoboost version finally hit our shores. This version looks more like a facelift as it's still using the same chassis. The front grille has that Aston Martin look and it does take sometime to get used to. But it's the 1.0l turbo ecoboost engine that is the most interesting part of the addition. Although it's 100ps but with a torque of 170nm, it's sure to have a decent pickup and drivability. The fc is about 20kml but I'd be happy if it can get 18kml in local roads. But I'm curious why they are bringing in the 100ps version instead of the 125ps version of the engine? Both are still 1.0l and both will still be cat A. The 125ps is definitely more drivable and will give the golf and polo a run of their money! Think it's around 110k now and hope se will throw in some discount. Anyone eyeing this?
  3. Professional Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his Boxer sidekick, Brody, goes for a mad detour in their Ford Fiesta ST after dropping by the supermarket. In the video, the ST is seen getting thrashed hard on an empty construction site and looks at home doing so. Definitely a video for the rally fans. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUecT2eRg0M
  4. Ford's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine has won the "International Engine of the Year" award for the second consecutive year. Not only that, the turbocharged, direct-injection three-cylinder engine achieved the highest score in the 15 year history of the awards. "With a technology as mature as the internal combustion engine, it's very rare to achieve a true breakthrough, but that is exactly what the team accomplished with this engine," said Joe Bakaj, Ford Vice President, Global Powertrain. "You have to drive it to believe a small three-cylinder engine can deliver such performance and fuel economy." A panel of 87 automotive journalists from 35 countries around the world judged the awardees based on drivability, performance, economy, refinement and the successful application of advanced engine technology. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is currently offered in cars such as Fiesta, B-MAX and the Focus. In the near future, it will also power larger cars including the new Ford Mondeo. The rest of the award winners are as follows: New Engine Ford three-cylinder turbo (Focus) Green Engine General Motors 1.4-litre range extender (Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera) Performance Engine Ferrari 4.5-litre V8 (458 Italia) Sub 1.0-litre Ford three-cylinder turbo (Focus) 1.0-litre to 1.4-litre Volkswagen 1.4-litre TSI Twincharger 1.4-litre to 1.8-litre BMW-PSA 1.6-litre turbo gasoline 1.8-litre to 2.0-litre BMW 2.0-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder gasoline 2.0-litre to 2.5-litre Audi 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbo (TT RS, RS3 Sportback) 2.5-litre to 3.0-litre BMW 3.0-litre bi-turbo six-cylinder (1 Series M Coupe, 335is, Z4 35is) 3.0-litre to 4.0-litre BMW M 4.0-litre V8 (BMW M3) Above 4.0-litre Ferrari 4.5-litre V8 (458 Italia)
  5. [extract] While some automakers such as Mazda and Honda are shifting their production to Mexico, the Blue Oval, Ford, is planning to do just the opposite. The American automaker is planning to shift its Fiesta production from Chennai and Cuautitl
  6. Ford Singapore has posted a Word Search game on its Facebook page. Names of Ford models, not restricted to those on sale in Singapore, are camouflaged in the array of alphabets. I've managed to locate the Focus, Fiesta and Mustang. However, I believe there are a few more models waiting to be discovered. Have fun! Focus Fiesta Mustang
  7. [extract] To tell you the truth, the American automaker Ford actually planned to market the Ford Fiesta facelift in December last year. However, as it turned out, it was but too much an ambition as the model actually made its debut one month after in the hometown of panda, China. Built by Ford in collaboration with the Chinese Chang
  8. The 2012 Geneva Motor Show has brought many automakers to the land famous for founding the Red Cross, chocolates, fine timepieces and etc. During this event, Ford has plenty to show the world what they have come up with. Other than the Fiesta ST, Tourneo concept van and the Kuga (or Escape), Ford has unveiled an important model which is the B-Max. You might ask; why is it important? Firstly, the B-Max targets the mini MPV market segment which has increased in popularity. A mini MPV is suitable for those who are looking for a car that provides extra space but not too large in overall dimensions (easy to manoeuvre around). And the B-Max offers not only that but something else that is rather innovative. The B-Max is based on the same platform used on the Fiesta and it does not have a B-pillar. Ford has emphasised that this feature is mainly for easy access into the rear seating area. How did Ford achieve this? This ingenious design integrates the central body pillars into the hinged front doors and the rear sliding doors. The usage of ultra high-strength steel for the integrated central body pillars offers five times more strength, if compared to the usage of ordinary mild steel. And Ford has ensured that this provides excellent crash protection especially from a side impact. This unique feature creates a wide opening which enables someone to load or unload bulky items and it is also useful for large sized passengers to move in and out of the rear passenger compartment. The B-Max is available with several petrol and engine types and the highlight is the all-new 1.0 litre, three cylinder engine from the EcoBoost engine family. The engine is mated to a six-speed dual- clutch transmission and it features a turbocharged direct injection and also a start-stop system. The Ford B-Max will go on sale in Europe later this year as a 2013 model. Photo credit: Net Car Show and Auto Blog

The hot hatch segment has grew rapidly over the last few years and today, these cars are able to deliver performance that was not imaginable in the small hatch segment roughly ten years ago. The performance of larger sized hot hatches are moving towards the sports car category and the space left behind are being taken up by a new generation of performance orientated subcompacts. And Ford has presented the all new 2013 Ford Fiesta ST as part of this new generation. Ford has released pictures of a production ready version of the 2013 Ford Fiesta which the company will unveil during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. It is confirmed that the car will be launched first in the European market by 2013. The previous Fiesta ST was last offered in 2008 and fans of the car were clamouring for a new model ever since. Ford didn
  10. Performance cars usually rely on large displacement engines that deliver high power. But technologies such as turbocharging and direct injection have changed things nowadays and Ford is looking at a more powerful version of its 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine. Ford officially introduced its 1.0 litre turbocharged three cylinder EcoBoost engine late last year. It was developed by Ford engineers in the United Kingdom and the engine generates around 123bhp. The engine will be used in the Ford Focus and a 100bhp version will be introduced in Ford models such as the C-Max, Grand C-Max and B-Max. Normally, we won
  11. Ford Fiesta RS WRC takes 1-2-3 at Rally Sweden! "Mikko Hirvonen has won Rally Sweden for the second time in his Ford Fiesta RS WRC following a thrilling finish to the first event of the new season. The Finn beat Mads Ostberg in the final overall standings by 6.5s with Jari-Matti Larvala completing a Ford podium lockout."
  12. Some of you guys may have known that I have been cross shopping for my next car, to be more precise, between the Ford Fiesta & the Lamborghini Gallardo. Thanks god for this great comparison video, now I am sold on the Ford. This weekend, I will be going down the showroom to sign for the new Fiesta. 14. [extract] After trailing the Ford brand by 1,298 units last month, VW has once again become the best-selling automotive brand in the European Union with a total sales of 138,304 units as compared to Ford, which moved 87,721 units. The Golf VI accounts for the majority of VW
  15. The newest generation of the Ford Fiesta has become Europe's best-selling car, pushing the Volkswagen Golf into second place for both March 2010 and year-to-date sales according to the latest figures from JATO Dynamics, an automotive business intelligence company. Ford sold 68,630 Fiestas in March 2010, 11,784 more than the Golf. It represents a 25.8% increase in sales over March 2009. In the first quarter of the year (January-March), Europeans bought 140,496 Ford Fiestas (+21.7%) as compared to 135,048 VW Golfs (+10.4%). Beyond the Fiesta and Golf, small cars dominated the list with the best selling models in Europe in first quarter of 2010. In addition to securing top spot with the Fiesta, Ford also managed to finish first in the March brand chart, with 1,818 sales more than Volkswagen. The American brand also closed up the year-to-date gap with its German rival by posting a 9.9% increase in sales volume to 348,780 units. It is a indeed a time for champagne popping for Ford. Can Ford replicate the sales success here in Southeast Asia? I believe it is possible with Ford's new manufacturing facility in Thailand which hopefully will drive production cost and offer value for money products for the consumers. In addition, Ford is introducing some interesting technology for Asia. For example, our neighbour in the North is getting a version of the Fiesta fitted with the 1.6L TI-VCT engine, mated to a 6 speed powershift gearbox.
  16. Ford's sedan version for the ASEAN market of best-selling Fiesta will make its debut at the Bangkok Motor Show (26March - 6 April 2010) and will go on sale in Thailand by August 2010. Ford has already sold more than half a million examples of the Fiesta hatchback worldwide and hopes to increase its share of the market in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region with this sedan version. It will be built at the joint Ford-Mazda factory in Rayong, Thailand. This factory also produces the Fiesta's chassis sharing partner, the Mazda 2 hatchback and sedan for the region (with the exception of Singapore which gets its 2 from Japan). The Thai flavoured Fiesta will be produced in both five and four-door formats, with exports planned for Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. For the Thai market the four-door Fiesta is offered with a choice of 1.4- or 1.6-litre petrol engines, both of which can operate on E20 bio-ethanol fuel. Buyers can choose between a manual or the new generation six-speed 'Powershift' (DSG type) automatic transmission. The bigger engine is the latest 120 ps Duratec engine with twin variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) and is mated to the 6-speed dual-clutch Powershift transmission. The smaller engine, with an output of 96 ps, will have a 5-speed manual transmission. Remote keyless entry is standard in all versions of the new four-door model, while Ford claims that Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity, as well as a voice control system are all unique in the segment. We do not know whether this system standard across the range or limited to the higher specified cars. As for the looks, looks like a slightly heavier styled Mazda 2 with some angles looking better than others. It is a decent looking sedan derived from a hatchback. Unlike some not so successful hatch to sedan designs (the previous Honda City or current Nissan Latio sedan as examples). The Ford dealership in Malaysia has reported that they will sell the Fiesta sedan (and hatchback) by the middle of 2010 but no actual launch date has been set as yet. As for Singapore, there is no news as to whether the Thailand built sedan will be sold in the Lion City. The Fiesta currently on sale is the 1.4liter hatchback version imported from Germany. So would a sedan version be accepted by the market if it came from Thailand?
  17. As topic, I know the Ford Fiesta, as well as KA, are Europe only models. However since we drive on the wrong, I mean left side of the road as U.K, I don't see why we can't have it in Singapore.

    Ford Fiesta sedan

Ford is eyeing a share of the B-segment market in Singapore with the upcoming Ford Fiesta sedan. The US automaker actually staged the global reveal of its all-new Fiesta sedan at the 2008 Guangzhou Auto Show, a year after its cousin, the Mazda 2 saloon was launched. The Singapore-bound Fiesta will be sourced from Ford's joint venture production plant with Mazda in Thailand. The boot of the Fiesta sedan appears a bit dumpy, which is a far cry from its sleek frontal facia. The Mazda 2 sedan has a more proportionate rear treatment, complemented by sleek looking lamp combination. However, all is not lost for the the Fiesta. The dashboard mimics the futuristic layout of its hatchback version, which is quite refreshing as compared to the mundane layout of the Vios or City. The interior plastic parts of the Vios/City feels rather hard and let's hope that the Fiesta sedan will be furnished by higher quality materials. I do not have the details of the drivetrain for the Thailand-built Fiesta at the moment but I am secretly hoping to see the 1.6L Ti-VCT on the offer list, like the US market.
  19. The Ford Fiesta made its ASEAN debut at the recent Thailand International Motor Expo, and will go into production next year at the AutoAlliance Thailand plant. The USD 500 million facility is a joint venture between Mazda and Ford. The Thai factory will supply Fiestas to the ASEAN region, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa , which are all the major right-hand drive markets. A sedan version of the Fiesta will be made available at a later date. Over the past 10 years, more car manufacturers are moving their production to Asean cities to lower their production and probably distribution cost. However, consumers do not really benefit much from this. For example, a 2.0L Thailand made Toyota Camry is going at SGD 98,488 whereas a Japan sourced 2.0L Nissan Teana is priced at SGD 89,500 (source: www.sgcarmart.com, data updated as of 10 Dec 09).
