I HAD BEEN PROVEN RIGHT LAST TIME'' SINGAPORECobra and python spotted 'fighting' on NTU campus Witnesses saw the python constricting itself around the head of the cobra around noon on Thursday (Aug 27). The python was taken away by pest control, but the cobra was only caught hours later. POSTED: 27 Aug 2015 21:15 UPDATED: 27 Aug 2015 22:45 PHOTOS Two snakes were seen duelling at the NTU campus on Thursday (Aug 27). (Photo: Abhishek Ambede) ENLARGE CAPTION 3716 15 0 Email More A A SINGAPORE: Two snakes, believed to be a reticulated python and a king cobra, were seen "fighting" each other on the street near Nanyang Technological University's (NTU) Research Techno Plaza (RTP) at noon on Thursday (Aug 27). PhD student Abhishek Ambede shared pictures of the incident and told Channel NewsAsia the snakes were wrestling on the road beside a forested area. "Some of us working at RTP can see the site from our office. When we spotted the incident, I went down and noticed that the python had constricted around the cobra's head. ADVERTISING The tussle, witnessed by a large crowd, lasted for about 30 minutes before the snakes separated. "The cobra escaped to the bushes, leaving the python moving slowly on its own along the road." Mr Abhishek said he and other bystanders alerted NTU's pest control, as well as the Animal Concerns Research and Society (ACRES). Pest control officers removed the python, but were unable to locate the cobra. After 4pm, the cobra reappeared briefly. "It was about that time that ACRES appeared but by the time they arrived, the snake had disappeared again into one of the drainage holes," Mr Abhishek said. "ACRES told us they could not catch the snake if they could not see it. All we know is that there is no immediate danger. The only worry is that if it reappears on the road, there is a chance it might get run over," he added. Mr Satish Digen, a technical officer at NTU, said pest control officers put sulfur powder down the drains in an attempt to draw it out. The reptile eventually emerged from its hiding place at about 10pm on Thursday and was taken away in a bag by the pest control team. The NTU Graduate Student Council earlier urged those on campus to be on alert for the cobra. "Please be careful when you take the sidewalk near to bushes. Night researchers and night runners, please be extra vigilant," it said in a post on Facebook. - CNA/hs
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKEN-_eGlPc&feature=youtu.be Lancer driver not paying attention and moves off before lights turned green. I guess he was looking at the green lights at the next junction, but actually they had been green for a while already, not like they just changed to green. Thought I was about to witness a tragedy when I saw the motorcyclist approaching at speed.

  8. Bangladeshi caught trying to rape cow By Ben Tan and Mohamed Farid Noh | [email protected] BATU PAHAT: The Parit Sulong community here are shocked with recent news that a man attempted to have "sex" with a female cow at a palm oil plantation near here. The man, identified as a Bangladesh national in his late 30s, was caught with his kain pelikat up to his waist in a comprimising situation with the year-old cow by the latter's owner when he went to check on his cattle last Monday. The cattle's owner then gave chase and caught the suspect who was then handed over to the authorities in the 5.30pm incident. It is learnt that the suspect, who works in a furniture factory nearby, was believed to have attempted similar unnatural acts to cattle in the vicinity about six-months ago but was let off with a warning by villagers. Cattle owner Sukiman Ab Majid, 54, said he was curious to see why one of his cows was pushed-over and had its legs tied by an unidentified man during a routine inspection. "What shocked me next was that the suspect, wearing a t-shirt with his kain pelikat above his waist, was attempting a disgusting act with the cow," he said when met today. Sukiman said he immediately gave chase and apprehended the suspect in some nearby bushes before alerting the police. He added that a similar incident had occured to a cow belonging to another cattle owner within the same area about six-months ago. "In that incident, a female cow was found dead after it suffocated on some ropes and was believed to have been "raped"," he said. Meanwhile, Batu Pahat police chief, Assistant Commissioner Din Ahmad said the suspect is in custody and have been remanded pending investigations. "We (police) are investigating the suspect's motive as the cow was found to have all its legs bound. However, police can only charge the suspect for tresspassing on private property as he was not caught having unnatural sex with the animal. "Investigators will be looking at all angles as six-months ago there was a similar case in the area where a cow died due to suffocation after being allegedly "raped" but the owner did not lodge a report with us," he said. http://www.nst.com.my/latest/bangladeshi-c...pe-cow-1.219573 Holy Cow.

  11. As long as these canines are on leash, it is alright to bring them to parks or beaches right? Have seen local-looking folks unleashing their pedigree dogs big and small along East Coast Parkway beaches so not really fair to paint the foreigners in a bad light here. Then again really a nuisance to encounter the unleashed doggies running around especially when you are jogging or cycling and some breeds like German Shepards seem to a real menace to other park users though I have never heard of one injuring anyone... From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...for_a_walk.html Posted on 24 Jun 2012 Foreign family ignores sign at reservoir park and takes big dog for a walk STOMPer Merlion Wayfarer encountered some inconsiderate park users at the Lower Peirce Reservoir. They were noisy, rollerblading and had a big dog in tow. According to the sign at the entrance, dogs are not allowed. Said the STOMPer: "Inconsiderate park users who can't read signs. "I met some inconsiderate park users today at the Lower Peirce Reservoir. "The most noisy was this foreign family with four kids. "Two of them bladed all the way from the park entrance to reservoir, while the other two bawled very loudly that you could hear them from the other side of the boardwalk across the reservoir. "The parents were talking loudly to control the kids. "They even had a huge dog which took up half the boardwalk's width in tow. "The weird thing is that obvious signs were placed at the entrances of the boardwalk at both sides, and they chose to ignore them."
  12. New pictures of the China's J-20 Mighty Dragon stealth fighter have surfaced and are making their way across military blogs. This newest round of photos show the J-20 in the skies somewhere over mainland China. The prototype is said to be using the Saturn AL-31 turbofan engine developed by the Russians for their Su-27 air superiority fighter. Reuben Johnson at The Washington Times reports the Chinese may be as much as 10 years away from producing an original stealth engine to slip into the J-20. In the meantime, they'll have to take comfort in the fact that while the F-22 Raptor may be more agile and made entirely in the U.S., the Dragon carries more fuel and weapons than Lockheed's fighter. The J-20's development is also moving along much faster than anyone had expected. Back in 2009, Gen. He Weirong, deputy commander of the People
