MAZDA 6

To me, Civic pros are only the 1.5 turbo engine and Apple Carplay/Android Auto HU...

Other than that, Mazda 6 has way better interior quality (more plush leather, soft touch rubber and very little hard plastic). Mazda 6 seats are more comfortable too. Mazda 6 2.0 executive is better kitted, it comes with Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Bose sound system etc....

One other thing, Civic sits very low. Some might not find it easy to get in and out.

I have only tried Civic 1.6, it's steering is lighter, less feel and I find it noisy on the road. I have tried both Mazda 6 2.0 & 2.5 and the 6 has better steering feel, chassis control and the 2017 version is pretty quiet on the road.

Last of all, Civic's competitors are the Altis, Mazda 3, K3, Elantra, Impreza etc... Mazda 6 competitors are Accord, Camry, Optima, Sonata, Legacy etc...

I believe I am not the only person who is trying to compare m6 2.0 executive with civic 1.5t.

Simply because they are marketed at similar price. I think nobody will compare ~130k civic 1.5t with ~100k k3.

I am agree with u that m6 has more features and better interior. But civic 1.5t has higher omv and lower road tax. Which I feel more worth to buy civic 1.5t. Still can't decide which to choose.

No offense, above is just for discussion.

One thing I've come to realize driving in Singapore, is that a car's comfort, reliability and features far outweigh the performance value of its engine, which seems to mostly end up being under utilized. Traffic lights, speed cameras and clandestine cops have pretty much seen to that.

Please excuse me for asking a question here, is m6 a reliable car? Are there any known common problem with m6?

I have bad luck on car, my current one gave me lots of problems even people normally considered it as a reliable model.

Had the 2017 Edition for about 7 months. So far so good.

The only thing I find it abit annoying is the road noise or tyre noise..

Hence, wondering any fellow owners here did any soundproofing and mind to share if that sound proofing really helps..

Turbocharged

Maybe I am recalling incorrectly. I followed Mzd3 discussion a bit more, maybe I saw it there if I did at all.

What's ur view if comparing Mazda 6 2.0 executive with civic 1.5t? Which are about same price.

I considered the M6 2.5 vs the Civic 1.5T. Price then was $131k for the M6 and $127k for the Civic.

The feel is a big difference. The M6 is a lot more premium in terms of the interior, the handling and the ride.

I was very keen to get the Civic. After trying the M6, and then going back to look at the Civic, I was totally convinced to get the M6. The Civic has the size and hard plastic feel of a 1.6l. Whereas the M6 has the premium feel of a mid size sedan.

Mine has 19" wheel and I find the tyre noise very ok. The noise level depends on the road surface. Some roads are very noisy. On good stretches of the PIE, it is very quiet.

The Mercedes E250 had road noise also when I test drove it.

Until Euro 6 emission standards is adopted from 1 Sep 2017, the standard for petrol vehicles here is Euro 4, rather than Euro 5. Hence, unless specific models are already Euro 5 compliant to begin with, the trade-off is between Euro 4 and Euro 6, though I agree with your statement in general.

I'll not be surprised if road tax is raised in future for petrol vehicles which are not Euro 6 compliant (given that road tax payable for diesel vehicles has been taking into consideration their emission standards), adding to the running costs and negating any initial saving for Euro 4/5 compared with Euro 6. As you said, somethingâs gotta give.

As much as they seem to find a way to raise prices on so many things, I really don't think they would go as far as to raise road tax for cars that are non euro 6 compliant. Particularly, as those cars would have been bought in accordance with the rules and regulations at the time. That would be akin to retroactively penalizing someone . They might, however, incentivize those cars that are Euro 6 compliant by providing lower road tax for such cars, though I doubt very much

I agreed, Honda car steering is light and I find it dangerous when driving at high speed. Especially in N-S highway.  The road handling for Mazda 6 is better.

SPH Car Carnival coming soon, maybe can get better discount.

Got my Mazda 6 for a week. Was good to drive. Road noise...not the quietest but good enough.

I've an issue with the HUD for the navigation guidance. There are multiple times when navigation is set on the infotainment, but failed to display on the HUD. I had to go into settings to reset the HUD display to off and on the lane guidance before it appears. Anyone had this issue? Is it solvable?

Isn't it good that everyone has different criteria? Else everyone will be going after the same thing.

For me, I take a look at the price of a $130k Civic to a $100k K3, Mazda 3 & such and find it overpriced. If a Mazda 6 can be had for the price of a Civic, I wouldn't even bother with a car one class down.

For me, Civic has a high OMV yet so little features, not worth it

Mine is not even showing the navigation directions in the HUD. Will try turning the lane guidance on and off.

Very reliable. Owned one for nine years and never gave me any problems. Had almost 250 thousand km on it when I finally traded it in, and only sent for servicing every 12 or 13 thousand km after the fifth year. Kept to 10k km servicing for first five years though. I've owned many other cars in my 35 years of driving and I dare say the Mazda was my most reliable car by far.
