Supercharged

My dealer says 2019 model is $113888 and 2018 model is $110888 and both cars are exactly the same in terms of looks, specs, features. Just different in year of manufacture

it makes more sense for buyer to get the 2019 car since only $3k price gap?

Made in 2018 will expire ah? If exactly the same specs, why spend the extra 3k?

Why would you choose more expensive YOM 2019 over YOM 2018 even though both of them are exactly the same design/spec/features?

Actually no particular reason lol. Maybe because YOM 2019 gives the feel is latest car? Lol

Best trump card to negotiate is NOT to test drive so you are not locked in to that particular SE.

Once you test drive, and are locked in, the SE has the upper hand.

That's not true.

I had 4 Mazda SE's, three of which I test drove the car with. Never had a problem. If they ask, just say I forgot the name of previous SE. Then they gladly helped me. All within a period of 1 month.

Too bad none of them could offer a good deal on the cx5. Ended up buying a crv from KM, where I had 3 SE's and the one that got my business was the one that gave me the best deal.

Maybe the tires from 2018 had hardened when compared to those manufactured in 2019.

Maybe the battery which is good for 2 years, started the countdown from 2018, instead of 2019.

Everyone also likes newer stuffs. If i buy a bottle of milk from NTUC, i also try to grab the one which expires last.

Last yr made vehicle is always cheaper in the sense it has been in the store for a year and god knows how dealer take cares of it. For demo car is cheaper as it has been abused by many ppl like a village bicycle.

I know few months back my friend test driven the mazda 6 executive and accidentally scratched the body... so these kind of vehicle usually be sold at a better rate.

I think it's not so much about them not being able to offer a good deal, but that their hands are tied (have a limit to what they can offer) and the price of the cx5 doesn't match your budget.

If 3 SEs can give you different deals, that means 2 of them are not giving their best price, or that you heng heng manage to get a better deal from their manager.

So did your friend have to compensate anything for scratching the car?

Once you test drive and get locked in with SE no. 1, and should you decide to sign on the dotted line with SE no. 2 instead, SE no. 2 will have to share commission with SE no. 1

So how good a deal can SE no. 2 give you?

If spending that additional 3k makes you feel better, sure... I would rather see how the 3k can be better spent eg. Mod the car, buy accessories, spend on servicing...

Certain things like battery, tires might last marginally longer but it's likely insignificant if you are planning on driving it for a few years. Also, it could be Jan 2019 for all you know =p If I'm not wrong, the 2018 are Dec 2018.

I also believe in sticking with 1 SE. If you are sincere in buying and have no qualms walking away from the deal, the SE will likely do their best to get you the best offer (which is usually given by their higher ups that's likely not standing around the showroom).

Thereâs a complimentary upgrade from standard to executive promotion for the Mz6. Does it mean you pay for the standardâs DP and price but get the Executive version?

Usually SE will give you discount to match the price difference btw standard and executive. It will be stated as executive version when signing the dotted line.

In my case I don't believe that.  Maybe some magic happens in the backend, but as far as I can see, I had no issue with SE's complaining about helping me because I've test driven with another SE.  I also couldn't see a system to ensure that coordination between SE's, like a salesforce or dynamics.  You'd think after going to 4 SE's at TEK and 3 at KM, someone would complain.

You could argue that I'm unethical by mixing between SE's, but it's my right as a consumer to find an SE that either gives me the best deal, or I personally like.  I'm not about to drop $100k+ on a car, with an SE I don't like or is not giving me the best deal, just because the system says so.

I ended up spending $20k over my original budget on the CRV 7-seater, when the CX-5 premium was $120k (at the time).  So budget wasn't the problem.  The reason I mixed between a few was because the SE's weren't particularly good.  I seemed to know more about the car than they did, and they were slow to respond etc.  When I bought my CRV from KM, I went between 3 SE's.  Two SE's offered me the "standard" freebies, which may have saved me $1000.  The third SE's went above and beyond, pulled some strings and got me more freebies, identified further cash discount, open cat, and even escalated to get me special arrangements on insurance and finance.  Saved me a few thousands dollars.

For me it was worth mixing between a few SE's.

Legit reason then. Cus in your previous post it was just mentioned they can't offer you a good enough deal =)

This is just part of their game plan. There is no such thing as "complementary". All these so call "complementary or freebies" costs are built into the prices already and you are paying for them one way or other.

What's the latest 'promo' about? The get the coe you really want thingy? If anyone had any idea lol!

Same gimmick as what komoco was doing previously with their "bid your own coe" marketing.

That should be your rebate level and not the coe level they will bid for you.

Just look at lta website for a rough gauge of their profit margins and you will know how much is the buffer for coe.

Yeah that's why I dont know whether to laugh or cry for some ppl who are so happy when they see the promo 10 years warranty/10 years servicing but dont realise how much more they are overpaying.
